Juxtaposition of Keane with wannabes elsewhere

Worst Rangers [sic]team in history?
Check.

Worst Rangers [sic]chief executive in history?
Check.

Worst Rangers [sic]fans in history?
Oh, please.  They have played their part to perfection.

Worst Rangers [sic]manager in history?
Who, Ally the Great Enabler?  No way.

Charles Green would not have any authority at Ibrox if Ally McCoist didn’t act as his enabler last year.  While every Celtic fan with a keyboard was typing “Can they really be so stupid again?” Ally was cutting a deal for almost 5% of the share capital of the company [sic].  None of this would be possible without Ally.  If you see him, buy him a pie.

The juxtaposition was pointed out to me:

19 years after John Keane stepped forward with an amount of money very precious to him..

With no guarantee it would solve our problems…

Or that he would see a penny of it again (for the record, he hasn’t, and he is unlikely to)…

A very different history played out across the city.

Today’s Herald told us the group trying to overthrow the Sevco board contains Jim McColl and that, “McColl is one of Scotland’s richest people, but he won’t spend his own money”.

The world is full of rich men who will not spend their own money.  Long may they squabble over the Ibrox debris.

Our honorary chairman, John Keane, waved to the Celtic Park crowd before letting the league flag fly high, a direct consequence of putting his money where his mouth was.

  1. Samaras and Boerrigter are our main weapons on Wednesday.

Drop Forrest for Boerrigter, Sammy out left and Derk down the right, or Commons down the right, Boerrigter left with Stokes playing off Sammy.

  2. The comedy show from the Bigotdome is better than anything you would see at the Edinburgh fringe!

Parkheadcumsalford- I was at a wedding at the weekend, and missed the game. Wedding was near Coalsnaughton, former abode of ole Pabbers[God bless]…

anyways, got talking with a bhoy who says that walking up to the ground in Janefield St the cobbles were engraved with a set of goals and a ball; when the ground was re-developed Fergus was asked if the cobbles could feature somewhere in the new ground, but they seem to have gone under the ‘dozer.

So instead of talking cobblers I’m talking cobbles for a change; do you remember the goalposts ‘set in stone’?

Received my Paperwork from the hospital today.Go in on 19th August for an Colonoscopy, which I know about, but there is another addition to the form, a Polypectomy, don’t know anything about that one. Another form which is called an upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, I know also what that is but they added Oesophageal Dilatation, Do you know what that means. These add ons have me baffled. I’m sure you will know what they mean, can you enlighten me.

I used to live in Janefield street and I remember cobble goalposts outside Camlachie Community centre. the street and the centre are both gone now I think (the Community Centre certainly is) I think the lane fed on to Alma Street, in that area anyway.

    hope that helps.

I’ll have a stab at it.

The polypectomy is to remove any polyps [small growths, like warts] on the lining of the bowel which they may find at colonoscopy. Basically they snare them in a fine wire loop and remove them that way. The polyps then get examined under the microscope to confirm there is nothing more serious going on.

THe oesophageal dilatation is to widen the gullet [oesophagus] to enable you to swallow solid food more easily; they do it at the same time as the endoscopy, using what are called ‘bougies’ to widen the aperture. Depending on your symptoms, and how you respond to treatment, the dilatation can be repeated.

    Good luck.

  7. Dontbrattbakkinanger on

‘Widen the passageway would be better than’ widen the aperture’.

Calton Tongues/ Dharma- thanks for that.

  8. DBBIA & Dharma,

I’ve just been told the cobbles are safe and well and living in a garage not far from it’s original spot.

That Barramanky mob will steal anything:-))

  9. Story was the goalie in the cobbles was a tribute to Johnny Thompson, might be an urban myth though.

  10. See if you were trying to get a controlling stake in a company ran by a bunch of immoral chancers a most excellent way to do so would be to get a board member, say like a chairman or something, to drive that share price down through the floor.

    Parkheadcumsalford-

The Cobbles (known as the ball, the boot and the goal) were not owned by Celtic.

They were about quarter of a mile away from the ground on a path between The Gallowgate and the scheme behind the Celtic End (Camlachie?).

I think they are in a museum now.

  12. Keith Jackson piece today in the DR telling Walter to go what’s he up to ?

We always called the little goal and ball The Johnny Thompson Memorial.

It was on a very short (about 20 yards) street/wee slope from the Gallowgate. The cobbles were simply painted in white to represent the goal and ball but even then (late 50`s early 60`s it was quite faded.

I assume you, like the government aren’t factoring in those on zero hours contracts.

Surely unemployment figures are determined by those claiming benefit.

    **** **** ****

Quite correct, employers are using the zero hours contracts to reduce employees hours rather than FTE’s and hey presto in one fell swoop an employer can have staff sitting around unpaid and the government doesn’t have to pay them either as they’re not available for work and therefore not entitled to unemployment benefit.

The government through Vince Cable is saying all the right things about the flexibility it affords for those that want it but now the debate is focusing on those who have been coerced into accepting zero hours contracts.

As I said earlier, don’t be distracted, you gotta watch both hands.

  18. Friendly match in Athens yesterday between Panathinaikos and Lazio.

Saw a still from it in one of today’s papers here.

Panathinaikos kit – (unbroken) green and white hoops, and green shorts. Could not make out the manufacturer, but I’ll wager it’s not Nike!

Hate to say it, but it looked better – imo – to our new home kit!

No doubt, but they don’t have to have their kit resemble the Magners logo.

  21. My wife just got a letter from HMRC saying she owes them nothing after one asking for £ 845, made me chuckle but got me thinking about FTT. Is there a second tier tribunal ? Can HMRC pursue against RFC (L) ? Must get onto scotslawthoughts and so on…

  22. Vanguard Huns charity knows no bounds:

“Vanguard Bears, like many other Rangers supporters groups, has strong links to Ulster and as such we are fully aware of the ongoing daily protest at Ardoyne, where loyal people are being denied their human right to walk past Ardoyne shops to their homes as they have done so for decades as part of The Twelfth celebrations.

Protesters have been there every day since this past 12th of July and there appears to be no sign of it ending soon. With that in mind, Vanguard Bears members agreed to offer some financial aid, assisting our friends and comrades in their time of need.

In the space of just a few days the magnificent sum of £560 was raised…. and will go towards much-needed hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, biscuits, chocolate etc. for the resilient and impervious protesters.

As well as the above, Vanguard Bears has also supplied 1,000 Rangers rosettes”

It must be consumption of the “etc.” which is contributing to the behaviour of the mindlessly violent bigoted morons.

No opportunity should be lost to nail the lie.

They were not denied the right to walk past the Ardoyne shops.

They were however denied the opportunity of having a second house of coat trailing.

I see no one in Poland who would fit Celtic. All positions but not the striker. Since two years, football market is well covered by the scouts from Western leagues. Last week young striker from Lodz with TNT in his boots was sold to Malaga. It’s only my Legia Warsaw in this region who does not sell the players if does not want to .
