Kazim-Richards signs 2.5 year deal

357

24 hours after a lightweight-looking Celtic were dumped out of the League Cup, Colin Kazim-Richards (29) joined the club on a 2.5 year deal from Feyenoord.  Kazim-Richards is a centre forward who can also play in the wide-striker positions.  No one will call him light-weight, not to his face anyway

The player left Feyenoord under a considerable cloud, after being suspended for the last two weeks of January for threatening a journalist, not his first encounter with controversy.
After spending 2006-07 in the English Premier League with Sheffield United, Kazim-Richards moved to Turkey, where he has spent most of the intervening years, playing for Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Bursaspor.  Feyenoord picked him up 18 months ago and he delivered 12 goals in 26 league starts but he’s been used sparingly this season.

What’s he going to give us?  Well, we can expect a more combative style when he’s on the field, which is perhaps what Ronny Deila is looking for.  No more being pushed around.  For Colin, it’s an opportunity to get his career back on track after a what, from the outside, looks like a series of mistakes.

There are very few of us who would not change employer for a multiple 3 or 4 times your salary. Perhaps more.

    Apart from you, of course.

I take it you would sign for the Huns then?

A yes or no will suffice.

Ah the famous we have already established you’re a whore defence, now we determine the cost :O)

  2. Whoopee…another with a bad attitude to replace Stokes and Ciftci, who also had bad attitudes.

    Great management Peter.

Who’s next El Hadj Diouf, ..Lee Wallace, Derek Riordan.

  3. Go tell the Spartim on

I think we should cut ‘Mike’ some slack, obviously he knows Rangers died he’s merely signed for an up and coming new club.

He’s gash so I don’t know why all the fuss.

We however need a decent defensive minded midfielder, what a difference he would make, or she

  4. Dexter says BHOYCOTT CELTIC PARK UNTIL THE PLC PAY ALL EMPLOYEES THE LIVING WAGE on

If Richards is a free signing, it reminds me of the scene in Phoenix Nights when Brian Potter asks the nice but dim Spencer why he should hire him… “Because it won’t cost you a penny.”

    “When can you start?”

    Peter Lawell is Brian Potter

  5. And you guys are criticising me for saying I would work for Rangers for a huge payrise that would solve all my financial problems.

A team with over one hundred years of glorious history!

A team that justabout never loses a court case!

    A team on the up!

A team who have just made a bank busting signing!

    A team with a £30,000,000 warchest!

A team with a board of directors committed to rooting out the sectarian songsters!

A team with a board of directors of REAL RANGERS MEN!

    Where do I sign!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and what would we all give for a board of REAL CELTIC MEN?

    In your feckin dreams.

    Now, where do I sign?

  6. I guess that is that for another transfer window.

I’ve seen a YouTube video of Roberts, looks good.

I watched Erik yesterday. Looked OK, needs games, then we will see.

Heard lots of negativity about Colin, I’ll wait and see him play first.

Welcome to Celtic Bhoys, you have a chance to become heroes, take it.

  7. I think Micky O’Hallaron should have read CQN before he signed for his new employer at a huge increase in wages.

    He might no huv signed.

How do we get every footballer in the world onto CQN?

    Canny be that difficult?

    Kin it?

  8. What is the Stars on

Now I would just like to ask a question of the ronny believers if I may ( presuming there are some left)

One of the common defences used is. It’s not ronnys fault, he hasn’t been able to sign his type of players etc

Ronny signed ciftci, an abysmal failure, an of course it’s a case of” he wasn’t a ronny signing he was a lawwell”

So the 3 recent additions, Roberts, richards and the new centre half. Well are they ronny signings or lawwell signings. Or do we have to wait and see if they are any good before we can allocate praise ( hopefully) or blame ( probably)

  9. I thought we were a wee bit light on strikers after the summer Transfer Window. Wow! Still more than 3 hours to go.

  10. This guy’s agent is Dudu Dahan who brought us Kayal, Ambrose, Gershon and Bitton all players nobody else wanted with good reason. There is something rotten and corrupt inside Celtic Park when we keep going back to this shyster to take his duds off his hands.

  11. Higdon released by Sheff Utd,he might end up at Hearts too,Souttar on his way to Swinecastle after fee agreed, will we step in?

  12. Will judge all 3 new signings when i see them in the hoops

Good luck to the three new lads

I think we have done our business this window

Erik Sviatchenko 24 yrs old, over 100 appearances for FC Midtjylland broken into the Danish national team

Colin kazim richards 29 yrs old over 300 appearances for clubs in England France, Holland, Turkey and Greece Turkish international very experienced player apparently not a striker

Patrick Roberts 18 yrs old just 20 appearances mostly for Fulham and Man city will this young lad live up to the hype

Hope you’re right Paul, I’m a bit sceptical to tell the truth, but hope it works out. Still can’t get over our manager’s substitutions yesterday, I asked the question earlier, why put Brown on at 3-1 down with fifteen to go ? Maybe put him on at half time at 1-1 ? Makes no sense to me at all. Great result today for our youngsters, cheered me up a bit

  14. THE HUDDLE

I am in the fortunate position that, with a lot of hard work, CPD, and a willingness to work 6, sometimes 7 days a week I can support my family.

A roof over our heads, food on the table, holidays and so on.

To do this I gave up my golf club membership, following Celtic, and a load of other things.

I have a sister who I also support, an older sister who has nothing, and would have less if it wasn’t for my wife and my support.

If Rangers offered to double my income I could make HER life much more comfortable and secure.

If you honestly believe that is wrong I will never post on here again and Celtic can GTF.

Not the greatest of goal records, but maybe gives us something different. Leigh could be doing with a bit of competition.

    Great and very busy window

A Danish international, one of the highest rated EPL youngsters on an 18 month loan deal, a Turkish international and a former English international, as well as arguably the best young Scottish player in the league.

Also moved Stokes and Ciftci off the wage bill.

Philbhoy. Your family are a priority on this site talk is cheap OH NO I wouldnt sign for them to triple my salary fine when you know you will never get the chance. I bet it would be different for many if they had the contract in front of them. H.H.

  18. The Battered Bunnet on

I can’t say the fella’s a journeyman, but the man has been on quite some journey.

From home in London to an apprenticeship in Bury aged 16, he moved to Brighton, then Sheffield for a year, before skying the park to Istanbul aged 21, where he spent 3 years, with one on loan in Toulouse, before heading back to Istanbul and jumping the Bospherous to sign for Galatasaray.

Not content with crossing the Asia-Europe line, he then crossed the Turkey-Greece antipathy when signing on loan at Olympiakos, then onwards for a season’s stint in Blackburn, where he crossed the acceptable behaviour line. He was found guilty of making homophobic gestures to supporters of Brighton , a former club of his, before swiftly returning to Turkey and a stint at Buraspor this time.

It didn’t work out so well at Bursa for the then 27 year old, and he headed north west and to Rotterdam to play for Feyenoord, at first on loan where he did reasonably well, then permanently, when he didn’t.

Aged 29, Colin pitches up in Glasgow with 53 professional club goals behind him after 12 years as a professional with 10 clubs, playing predominantly in the forward positions, and settling in recent years as a centre forward.

53 goals in 305 matches in 12 years.

    Striking stats.

I don’t know what the plan is, but I’m sure we’re on it.
