Kazim-Richards signs 2.5 year deal

357

24 hours after a lightweight-looking Celtic were dumped out of the League Cup, Colin Kazim-Richards (29) joined the club on a 2.5 year deal from Feyenoord.  Kazim-Richards is a centre forward who can also play in the wide-striker positions.  No one will call him light-weight, not to his face anyway

The player left Feyenoord under a considerable cloud, after being suspended for the last two weeks of January for threatening a journalist, not his first encounter with controversy.
After spending 2006-07 in the English Premier League with Sheffield United, Kazim-Richards moved to Turkey, where he has spent most of the intervening years, playing for Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Bursaspor.  Feyenoord picked him up 18 months ago and he delivered 12 goals in 26 league starts but he’s been used sparingly this season.

What’s he going to give us?  Well, we can expect a more combative style when he’s on the field, which is perhaps what Ronny Deila is looking for.  No more being pushed around.  For Colin, it’s an opportunity to get his career back on track after a what, from the outside, looks like a series of mistakes.

Excellent well reasoned and relevant ….the complete antithesis to some on here tonight

CFC are rudderless…if we are in fact following a plan ..I’m damned if I know what it is

Our squad is bereft of talent , passion and interest …we have wheeled and dealer our way from a last 16 CL club to EL embarrassment….good going in three years

great post absoloutely every single celtic fan I know and others I dont know ( chat to at game or in Pub ) to a man know that Ronnie needs to go. Honestly the only support I here for him is on this site. Some people need to call it as it is and with all due respect Paul67 that includes you. Why do I get the feeling that this great site no longer challenges Celtic or asks questions anymore ….is it off limits …

  4. Yet another none scoring striker.

I haven’t checked his appearance record.

All that is missing is for him to be regularly injured.

An utter shambles of a football department.

The lack of dig, fight and desire in this Celtic team is shocking.

That disnae come fae the manager. That comes from within.

  6. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what Ambrose is on wage wise.

I’m guessing anywhere between 4K to 7k per week. I hope you were all sitting down

  7. He’s a non scoring winger not striker, come on negatons at least get your facts right before you post on here.

You have articulated exactly how I feel ,in a way that I never could.

I’m utterly disgusted at our dropping standards.

I feel utter contempt for those allowing this to happen.

Cheers! It’s a tragedy we’ve got to this point. I actually thought that after Neil, we’d a decent platform to build on, that the dross was there for all to see (and get rid of).

I don’t believe a guy on that basic wage would play so few games, doesn’t make sense.

A more sensible contract would be someone on a poor weekly wage who earned more they played

It’s a little difficult to see what cunning plan our custodians have?

We have a plethora of midfielders and a lop sided squad.

A coach who seems to have one system that in 18 months he still has not been able to implement properly.

I will wait and see what the new signings bring before passing judgement.

Was hoping we got rid of either Bitton or Johansen and use the money for an experienced defensive mid.

This area is a huge reason for our failings and no attempt to address it is a real concern.

  22. Reading the saga of the Sevco Director’s feelings about the ‘great song’ and The Glasgow Herald’s behaviour I got thinking about our media’s bias against all things Celtic. This is nothing new, below are some examples of the racism that many of our ancestors endured from the media.

There are dozens of other examples available.

Looks like not much has changed in Scotland.

  23. As the transfer window comes to an end, it does not look like we wil be getting any ball winning midfielders that I think we need desperately,we have also not sold anyone which is a huge surprise considering the size of the first team squad and players not getting a sniff of a game, I suppose if JF signs an extension this will be announced tomorrow to take some of the heat away.

P67, If there is a plan then it must have changed. Ronny was all about developing players we were told. Is he developing Cole and CKR? What’s the point of developing loan players for MCFC’s benefit. We can see how much Armstrong and GMS have developed.

Ronny thanks for the memories but we can’t afford for you to lead us in next season’s CL qualifiers.
