  1. To everyone on here who wants to see an end to the Old Firm nonsense in my opinion there is a simple answer – send the Bhoys onto the porch at Ibrokes wearing our natty new pink number. They are not important enough for us to wear the hallowed Hoops against them. Can you imagine the outrage. :-))

  2. THE HUDDLE

You could see our players struggled with the inconsistency of the pace and bounce of ball.

They handled it better due to playing on it more.

My first experience of an artificial pitch was painful.

Went to trap a simple long ball and it shot to of the surface like it had been fired by a cannon.

My voice is still three octaves higher 25 years later.

  3. ACGR, Michael they'll be taking you away on

Turkeybhoy, see my earlier post. He got two wrong and neither affected the play or the outcome.

He’s not fingered the goat yet. Long may it continue.

Apart from the booking of Sinclair, which the ref might have thought was worth one,I would take that Ref every game.Thought he was very good throughout.

    ——-

Brown’s was wrong, wasn’t even a foul. Though he probably deserved one sooner :O)

What was the issue with the pitch?

I never understand how any footballer struggles after the first few passes.

Rather play on that tonight than what Fir Park used to be like.

    ——————————————————-

Played on it around 4-5 years back when the idea was new, 7-a-side bounce game across the park.

Problem is, that crushed rubber they use to deaden the surface kicks up and around all the time- after a while some patches are barer than others.

The inconsistency in the surface then means you think you’ve got the speed and touch right and the next pass skids past you at 20-30% quicker than the previous.

Frustrating as hell. Messy and irritating too. If you’re playing and training on it regulary I suppose you might become used to the quirks.

But would honestly prefer a patchy grass pitch or muddy grass pitch than that. Especially if your profession depends on it.

  6. DELANEYS DUNKY

On the replay the Celt who touched it back to him had come back from offside position.

    It looked the right call.

    Was Moussa’s disallowed goal offside?

Looked ok to me fae the other side of the pitch. :)

    Yep unfortunately

First time sure, but we’ve all played on artificial pitches over the years and it becomes second nature. Sure grass is better, but a pitch that’s a mud bath, slippy as hell is 10 times worst.

I can understand preference of players but these guts are talented they should be able to adjust quickly.

Everyone used to bang on about Brazil honing their skills on a beach, yet we can’t on fake grass

  10. Grass pitches every time for me; the new 4G are great for the kids if the alternative is red ash, black ash or a ploughed field but it should be grass for a professional contest.

  11. Just listened to Grace, as posted by that new blogger RC :-)

Great to have you back entertaining us Bhud

The Huddle, I don’t know what the card count was. I only really noticed the two I thought he got wrong, Boyata and Sinclair.

  13. When I first played on the artificial grass in Saudi in 1986,it was like a Billiard table. With the ball having more bounce with the heat,it used to go so high from a bounce that there were collisions everywhere.Took ages to come down. This new stuff is a million times better.Still should not be used for actual games though.I am sure sometime in the not too distant future it will be perfect.

  14. evening all, great support on a baltic nite for our bhoys in lisbon cerise

thought boyata looked very nervous early on with some misplaced passes (which is only to be expected) but as the game wore on he started to look more assured and seemed to grow in confidence… i’m sure there is a decent player in there

i think by january a decision needs to be made on roberts, if we can buy him then great as he is a cracking player but if we have no chance of signing him then we need to be looking at giving game time to players who look to be in the CL qualifying line up next july

looking forward to next week, Barca game will take care of itself… for me this is the biggest game of the week, we should easily beat the sheep but honest mistakes could play a part… there seems to be no shame or attempt to hide the anti celtic bias in hampdump games

  15. THE HUDDLE

I live in the USA and we have a lot of these type of artificial pitches.

Here in the northeast the extremes of very hot summers and freezing winters also has an effect.

I played 5s and 7s for years and there were always moments of suspect judgement.

In the very cold spells it definitely seemed like the ball bounced higher.

Tonight their experience with the surface leveled the playing field.

Im not saying we shouldn’t play on grass, my comment is that top quality player that we have at Celtic should be using it as an excuse for poor passing when 5mins on 4G should get them in the groove. Fast pitch slow pitch, learn your pitch and adjust.

  17. ACGR, MICHAEL THEY’LL BE TAKING YOU AWAY

I thought Boyattas was a yellow,Broony had no complaints about his.Think his foot was high.

  18. TURKEYBHOY

Your comments about the artificial surface are interesting, our bhoy’s

played on the new g4 the other night and there wasn’t a lot of bounce

in the ball and long passes you would expect to go out the park slow

down rapidly, don’t know if time will change that,so we will wait and

see but the heat of it was excruciating, what did you think in Saudie.

  19. Do we not train on artificial surface at Lennoxtown??,if so what is the difference with tonights pitch.
