King’s very worrying trait, Gordon too late to the Celtic party

345

I like Gordon Strachan. I took to him when he was picked upon at Celtic, pretty much in the same way Fergus McCann was earlier. What he achieve in the Champions League put his more celebrated predecessor in the shade, but by then expectations, although not comparative resources, had increased beyond what was achievable.

He leaves Scotland in vastly better shape than it was when he took the job, there will certainly be more applicants to replace him than there was when he was appointed five years ago.

Still, the notion persists that Scotland’s resurgence over the last year has as much to do with Celtic’s correspondingly elevated performances than anything else. Gordon is now selecting Leigh Griffiths, universally acknowledged as our Most Valuable Player, as well as Stuart Armstrong, Kieran Tierney, Craig Gordon and James Forrest, players who struggled to get on the team sheet in earlier times.

He is not alone is missing the talent inherent in Armstrong, Forrest or Gordon. The latter was even dropped by Celtic last autumn. But it is the manager’s job to find and select the best talent, not yours or mine.

Do not get too animated about court representations yesterday that Dave King was Impecunious (def: penniless, in penury, indigent, destitute). I am sure he could buy and sell most of us. King’s QC informed Lord Bannatyne that he did not have the wherewithal to offer the £11m or so to buy the remaining shares in Newco, as instructed by the Takeover Board.

Before unseating the previous board, King also said he would invest tens of millions into the club, if necessary. I have no idea if King has the money to comply with the Takeover Board instruction, or to make funds available to the club, but what is clear is that he will say either, if it suits his purpose.

That’s a very worrying trait.capture-20171009-120341

I loved Whole of the Moon on it’s release. It is the only Waterboys song I hear on radio in the car now. That annoys me, given how great a catalogue of tunes The Waterboys recorded.

I want this generation to love them like I do. :)

In fairness The Whole of the Moon is a great song.

    But I get your point.

Some times great songs become victims of their own success

For some reason, your sarcasm always reads as a higher form of wit to me. Haha magic. :)

Delaney’s, Dingwall or to use his Follow Follow name, Grandmaster suck, is from Knightswood .

He is the same age or a year younger than me but looks and dresses as though he is 20 years older, going by the last photo of him I saw.

Former pupil of Knightswood secondary school. I was in his company a number of times around 1981. A pal of mine from school’s pal was in Dingy’s crowd at Knightswood. My pal’s pal did not share any of Dingy’s extreme views.

When I was introduced to him , he told me he knew I was a Catholic .

There was one sevco fan ran a site called the wee blog who absolutely detested Dingy . He made many allegations of impropriety against Mr D, stating he was very untrustworthy.

I prefer listening to Ayrshire poet Mike Scott, to reading Ayrshire poet Robert Burns. :)

Dallas…there was a time when Dingbat was the ‘go to person’ for a hun quote…no longer the case as they finally saw through him…bigot and more…

Before Dingbat it was David Edgar…again, no longer sought after for bitter hun quotes…

Why are they all so deluded, angry and bigoted? ‘Cause it’s the hun way…

Dingy and Dickie Gough have a lot in common.

Thank you J. You just confirmed a story I heard from a Temple Tim I spoke to recently.

    St Stivs , haha I wish I had .

I was a lot more nieve then and took it as a joke which I later found out was not.

Weebobbycollins, Messrs Edgar and Dingwall were major players in Follow Follow/the Rangers Trust but according to the sev fan on the wee blog, doubts were raised about their honesty particularly Dingwall. I don’t know if the accusations were true or not.

  12. I have always seriously disliked the wee turncoat fae the Port since he signed for Rangers. Hope we give his team a proper doing today.

Wasn’t going myself. I was looking for tickets for one of the cousins and his son.

Wicklow bhoy in Bavaria kindly offered me 2 tickets and then the cousin got sorted.

    All good

  14. Re the (lack of) reporting on the High Court proceedings …

A BBC Scotland spokesperson said: “We have given this story appropriate coverage and will continue to do so.

The only response to this should be, “So why isn’t it on the Front Page of every newspaper and news website in the country? You run with trivial, inconsequential guff about how well the Sevco FC players are feeling etc… but the story of the chairman being taken to court hardly cracks a mention. Really?!”

The only way this can be described as “appropriate coverage” is that it is in-keeping with the SMSM policy of playing down (or totally ignoring) any bad news story associated with Sevco FC.

Flew to Munich stayed a couple of nights, train to Vienna, stayed a night, train to Budapest, match nil all draw but great crack, eventually back to Munich for another night and flight home.

No euros then so we had punts sterling deutchmsrks austrian schillings and dollars.
