From what I hear, Celtic not having a game until Sunday is being viewed as a blessing, in light of players returning from international duty with a variety of strains and knocks. ‘Wee’ games before a bigger one are the proverbial banana skin. Ange is likely to depend on those who have had two weeks off from action and are ready to go. He will, of course, include his boundless captain, but he has reason to be grateful some international bosses are happy to overlook Celtic players.

Memories of Budapest
A few years ago my wife and I took a city break in Buda and Pest.
Coincidentally on the day of our arrival, there was a Gay Pride event in the city. We made our hotel room and saw the aftermath unfold on TV. Small groups of men, suspected of being on the March, were being chased through city streets and parks by gangs of feral youth. Police arrived only in time to show the cameras what happens to gay men who disturb the Hungarian traditions.
The following day there was another march to protest the event. They were protesting the freedom afore to allow the Gay groups to walk and appear in public, not the violence inflicted upon them. The march was led by a Catholic priest and included biker groups and other Village people character look alike, ironically. They marched along to a soundtrack of Country and Western Music.
It seemed awfully jolly if you hadn’t seen the events of the day before. No group of revengeful gays attacked this march but the police gave it an escort anyway. This was in the early days of Orban in power.
The LGBT groups have continued to march bravely in protest against the laws enacted against them.
Hungary, like Croatia had a strong Catholic Church, many of whom enthusiastically embraced the Nazi occupations in WW2 and assisted in rooting out their Jewish population. Those traditions are revived now.
Orban is following the Trump/Johnson approach of funnelling funds to his allies, reducing press freedom and the independence of judges. He cites Christian memes to justify his repression and “cancel culture”. It’s a playbook as old as time and Catholicism serves it as well as Evangelical “Christian” Right wingers do in Brazil and the USA. Orban belongs to a Calvinist church but his children were Catholic.
A wee ironic aside- Orban got a scholarship from the Soros ( a hate figure for the alt-right) Foundation to study at Oxford. My own son benefitted from a Carnegie Scholarship and he, like most USA robber barons had their private militias shoot striking miners, before he repented (after he’d made himself rich enough to repent on the backs of their dead bodies), so its a wee hypocrisy rather than a big sin.
Like many on the alt-right he is more fascist-friendly than fascist itself but he is not too keen to dissociate from them. Populism will do till fascism comes along. Just as Von Ribbentrop and Hindenburg smoothed the way for Nazi cancel culture.
The “impressive” congressman from Maine introduced legislation to eliminate the requirement to obtain a permit to carry a concealed firearm. He is another NRA stooge who is happy with Americans shooting each other, so long as they do it within national boundaries.

Neither of you may be interested in this post and the question I’m minded to ask you both. I see you two guys as representative of those holding the two ends of this piece of string. I’ve caught onto posts tonight and you seem to be reading, so giving it a go.
Trying to keep myself educated, I watched a bbc Hard Talk fifteen minutes in March 2022 with Andrey Kurkov. I found him to be a compelling individual.
Russian born (St Petersburg), he’s a celebrated writer living in Ukraine (Donbass) writing in both Russian and Ukrainian. He has an English wife and daughters who flew away last year. He moved west, apparently he’s on a Putin hitlist.
My interest isn’t his position in the current conflict. I’d appreciate your two opinions of his published works. He and I were both born in 1961.

Below is what I posted the other day. I congratulated the new first minister. Do you only read and acknowledge what you want to see. ?
I have looked at posting the other day and I have had no posts deleted to the best of my knowledge.
Why should there be. ?
I couldn’t give a monkeys what religion someone is, what colour they are, as long as they are the best person for the job.
You really should stop this obsession with seeing racism and fascism on here.
There is none and if there were Paul 67 would rightly boot them into touch.
You are not the witchfinder general of the blog, in modern speak, stop trolling. You are better than that.

” AT,
Don’t understand what you are getting at. Of course it’s an historic day for Scotland with Hamza Yousaf becoming first minister. I congratulate him on that.
However a first minister should be judged on ability. So we will need to see.
His track record is not good as perfectly highlighted by one of his leadership candidates.”

Hello again all you young rebels.
From a wet windswept Melbourne peninsula.
Autumn is definitely taking hold now, falling leaves and only
16 degs expected today,
TGIF, Good day for the shopping mall and the Sporting Globe.
Do you have them in the U.K..?
They’re full of tellys and there’s usually one of them stuck in
a wee corner showing soccer.
I’m always on the lookout for a glimpse of Ange and the bhoys.
Any team news yet ?
Going to read back now, will I need my scrolling finger ?
Last night it was going like the clappers lol.
Might need a plaster on it this morning 🤪

Just seen Trump has finally been charged tonight.
Wonder if his Supreme Court placement will bend the law for him?
Wonder if De Santis and Pence etc; will start to distance themselves as they are small men in a small man’s shadow.
Jeezo, just tuned into BBC Scotland, yer one on the weather looks like Dick Emery in drag
Can’t understand why some older dudes on here fancy her
GUYFAWKESAFOREVERHERO on 30TH MARCH 2023 10:37 PM,
Never heard of the guy or read any f his books, sorry couldn’t offer an opinion.
Wonder when they are going to charge killery clinton for spending election funds on the fraudulent Steel Report, or is it only a crime when the opposition do it.

There is a strong movement for a third party in the next US election, I hope it happens and disrupts the corporate owned establishment. I truly detest both cheeks of the same ar$e.

Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on 30th March 2023 10.46PM
Thanks for reply, I’m disappointed you’re unaware of Ukraine’s most famous writer alive. Fair play.
You’re a good Celt, keep kicking.
News that Pope Francis has shown improvement today.
Apparently due to antibiotics.
AT,
I was shocked that it would be said in any political forum in the US.
I missed the venue, probably due to the disbelief that a US politician would make such a statement.
GUYFAWKESAFOREVERHERO on 30TH MARCH 2023 11:06 PM,
Thanks for raising him, might have a look at some of his books.
Note his best seller Death and the Penguin, will start there probably.
Interesting story on Newsnight about agents and dual representation – they’ve been getting paid by both the player and the signing club. The suggestion seems to be not that the concept is illegal but that the clubs have been dodging tax.
Someone from the football supporters association suggesting that bigger clubs but also smaller, smart clubs like Brentford have used a tax dodge to gain an advantage in the highly competitive transfer market.

Paul McGugan?👍☘
GG- Made me laugh there….
Busy day which will end in just two minutes.
Just popped in for a look.
Respectful observation….
If you’ve been arguing back and forth with another poster on here on a given topic over … say .. ten days?
And you’re still peppering each other with rebuttals and responses?
Chances are you are not going to reach agreement?
Someone has to make the first bold move in not replying any further.

Good night all.
Hope Jeremy Corbyn starts his own real Labour Party.
The Labour party have just signed their own death warrant by banning Corbyn IMO.

great pics last night of my favourite Celtic team of the early 80s.
I’ll get pelters for this but I didn’t think McNeill had much about him tactically. That team with a Ferguson or Mclean could have been brilliant in Europe. Plus a very good centre half would have helped. Still loved every game though, and the strips
