Knowledge management

I caught a bit of yesterday’s newspapers; the contrast between an article in The Herald, linked from the Quick News section, and one elsewhere was stark.  It brought to mind a very politically incorrect cartoon depicting a conversation someone trying to explain the consequences of a football club getting into vast amounts of debt.  “You don’t have the intellect to understand what is happening” was the active line.

This far into actual news [def: hard information about a subject] on how Rangers were being run by the board in charge prior to Craig Whyte’s takeover, some are still flogging “EBTs were legal”, “No one complained about EBTs at the time”, “Juninho had an EBT”, as though somehow any of this was in doubt or relevant to the question.

The only show in town, to use our favourite phrase from last season, is ‘Were players illegally registered?’  You can pay them in cash, by EBTs or by boatloads of bananas, you can pay them when they were playing, before they were playing or after, the timing makes no difference whatsoever, but did you record all contracts or did you hide dozens of contracts from oversight?

Anyone who, this late in the debate, is blabbering on about EBTs being noted in Rangers annual accounts either doesn’t have the grey stuff to grasp the point, or somehow believes they can knowledge manage their readership.  “You don’t have the intellect to understand what is happening”, is perhaps the message they are sending out.

  3. Right – I have checked the Scotsman articles and, while they are extremely (unintentionally) very funny in their own right – you naughty CQNrs are ad libbing to these articles.

While I admit this does enhance their funniness its not right because I can no longer tell the difference between real newspaper articles and the ones that you make up.

Sorry mate, popped out for a sandwich. No, unless we decide to pop there later for the bus.

Granny Gibb’s in Whiteinch. My old man lives near there so I pop in to have a quick pint with him before the games. He’s not able to get to the games himself.

Should be busy in the Harp I’d say.

What you will not read in the MSM is how the huns are being made to produce I.D before entering football grounds and are being filmed. Scottish Government getting very twitchy about sectarianism in this country as it is no longer hidden and I believe it has been mentioned in recent meetings with Westminster about independence.

    We have established the following for all the good it will do us as facts;

    1. Duff and Phelps were operating to maintain Rangers as a going concern regardless of the costs to creditors ( Why and on whose instructions I suspect we will never know – my gut feeling is that their actions were deliberately orchestrated by those in our society who deem rangers a “necessary institution”)

    2. The SFA broke its own rules by refusing to terminate RFC’s membership when they failed to trade out of administration and broke them again when they transferred their membership to another legal entity and broke them again when they conferred “conditional ” membership to SEVCO and broke them again when they held on to player registrations of free agents who refused to TUPE over to SEVCO ( why – to prevent Armageddon and Social Unrest – again concepts from political masters)

    3. Rangers FC are dead and Rangers died with it – the transfer of a share and the notion of a “club” distinct from the legal body in which it is incorporated is a fiction – yet this fiction is the unchallenged official status of the club – why ?

    4. There have been unprecedented and extraordinary delays in processes – the FTTT, the SPL investigation, Lord Hodge’s report on conflicts of interest over Duff and Phelps – which had they been brought to a conclusion timeously must have led to the demise of RFC before the switch over could have been facilitated – this is either extraordinary coincidence or a very wide scale cover up indeed – and one co-ordinated at the highest level.

Many on here speak in reverential terms about judges and the HMRC as having reputations and being neutral arbiters – I believed this at first but the string of coincidences involving such individuals throughout this process has caused me at first to doubt this and now to conclude that they are anything but what they claim to be.

For whatever reason the Scottish establishment has deemed a functioning Rangers to be an essential priority and whilst legal and financial processes cannot be abandoned nor materially distorted ( with I think the exception of the administration by D and P – it appears blatantly fraudulent trading whilst insolvent, failing to secure income streams, failing to cut expenses, failing to sell assets at maximum value to creditors, and contrary to their legal duties ) , they can be delayed to allow a new situation on the ground to be in place which they hope will prevent the judgements delivered leading to the demise of Rangers. This has cost and will cost the public purse hard cash, and lead to one of the greatest examples in Scottish legal history of justice delayed being justice denied.

This process of judicial obfuscation, malpractice, apparent incompetence and cover-up is a staple of the British state when it has to defend its key institutions – it is interesting that Rangers and its survival is seen as being of sufficient importance that the old standard tactics have been put into place for them.

For me, the two danger men are Aimar (one of the best no.10s in Europe) and Salvio (very skilful player with a lethal cross). They have one philosophy: attack. Their entire midfield is set up this way, with only Matic as the one defensive midfielder. As if further evidence were needed, their Left Back, Melgarejo, is a converted attacker!

Defensively, I think we need Scott Brown on the right of midfield to help deal with the double threat of Melgarejo and Perez(or Gaitan). When Rangers came to Parkhead a seemingly attacking left side, they were completely neutralised by Brown and Matthews, who was excellent that day. The one caveat here is that Ledley may not be fit for the game, in which case our midfield two picks itself, and Forrest (who I’d prefer to come on around the 60′ mark) will start at RM. Izzy will be tasked with marking Salvio, while we will know whether Wanyama has had a good game by how he deals with Aimar.

If we look for hopeful signs, the fact that they are missing two mainstays of their defence, Luisao (CB) and Maxi Pereira (RB) means there must be scope for our attackers to get in behind them. Commons should play as AM behind the striker – his creativity and judgement will be essential.

All in all, our injuries have hit us hard for this game, but if we are to play to our strengths, and Benfica to theirs, expect a high scoring match.

Fair point,Ernie-I hadn’t read his Guardian piece on the Hillsborough apology from The Sun.

As their Media Correspondent,he would be expected to comment on it. As a respected figure,he would be expected to form his own views, and be damned,as long as he explained them-which he did.

As I recall,he wrote a smaller equivalent of Littlejohn in The Sun back then. I obviously don’t remember his comments from then. He would not have been alone in condemning Scargill at the time-I did too!

He had been stupid enough to play the game FOR the Tories by ignoring the law on strike ballots simply because he decided he didn’t like the idea, the twat.

Is being a Steely Dan appreciater a Kilwinning thing do you think? Just saying having heard it blasted out of record players (I’m that old) from places as far flung as the Corsehill to the Woodwynd in my time, it’s even heard in the Blacklands and the Dirrans I’m told, although Pennyburn and particularly Whitehurst Park would be the heartland of Steely Danism I guess. Neverthless, If not Scargill and the miners, she would have made damned sure that she brought about the end of effective trades unions.

At least we were never under any illusions about her.
