Knowledge management

I caught a bit of yesterday’s newspapers; the contrast between an article in The Herald, linked from the Quick News section, and one elsewhere was stark.  It brought to mind a very politically incorrect cartoon depicting a conversation someone trying to explain the consequences of a football club getting into vast amounts of debt.  “You don’t have the intellect to understand what is happening” was the active line.

This far into actual news [def: hard information about a subject] on how Rangers were being run by the board in charge prior to Craig Whyte’s takeover, some are still flogging “EBTs were legal”, “No one complained about EBTs at the time”, “Juninho had an EBT”, as though somehow any of this was in doubt or relevant to the question.

The only show in town, to use our favourite phrase from last season, is ‘Were players illegally registered?’  You can pay them in cash, by EBTs or by boatloads of bananas, you can pay them when they were playing, before they were playing or after, the timing makes no difference whatsoever, but did you record all contracts or did you hide dozens of contracts from oversight?

Anyone who, this late in the debate, is blabbering on about EBTs being noted in Rangers annual accounts either doesn’t have the grey stuff to grasp the point, or somehow believes they can knowledge manage their readership.  “You don’t have the intellect to understand what is happening”, is perhaps the message they are sending out.

Unlike the Office of Misinformation, who becomes involved in only the very worst magical-Muggle collisions and liaises with the Muggle Prime Minister, this committe deals with more minor incidents.

I have already corrected him on the ‘Rangers were relegated’ line and mentioned Tony Watt + Jackson Irvine as examples of those breaking into the first XI

Have a look at Man Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal’s first XI’s. How many of those players came through the ranks?

Nail on head? Sorry, have to disagree.

If Neil was playing a short-term game,he wouldn’t have targeted the signing of so many young players. He would have gone for the finished article.

We have players at the moment who can grow effectively as a unit-and,btw,be sold on when the price is right to enable the process to continue-and many of them also owe Neil a bit of gratitude for believing in them and giving them the opportunity to further their career.

Neville,Giggs,Scholes et al may have been bored winning those leagues-they had won half-a-dozen or so by then-but our lads have mainly only won one.

They will still be hungry, they will still be motivated, and they will still be ambitious.

The piece you refer to is the usual MSM garbage.

  6. That Ewing Grahame article is surely a wind-up. Somebody tell me that it is a wind-up.

Just when I thought the hilarity associated with Dodo FC was over, up pops this article.

I have been pureless laughing since I read it.

I swear the members of Dodo FC are in need of some serious psychiatric therapy.

Having the SFA’s assistance in fraudulently obtaining their membership, as well as the assistance of referees (nothing new there) to try to keep them from even further embarrassment, they are now threatening those giant clubs such as Annan with law suits.

Please somebody pull the plug on this shower for once and for all. My ribs can’t take much more.

And now they are also complaining about getting a kicking from all the plumbers, electricians, brickies etc… Hey, welcome to the 4th Division in Scotland (yes, I know it is called Division 3 but that hides the true level of opponent they are struggling to contend with).

I wouldn’t be in the least bit surprised if tomorrow we hear an announcement from the SFA stating that the pitches are banned. You’ll have to go some though when FIFA themselves have endorsed their use.

I must admit to feeling so filled with passion about this whole affair.

‘passion’ myself laughing at the picture of Sally’s team talk:

“Now have we all taken our anti-histamines tablets? I know, I know, their hard to swallow but if you close you eyes and are really, really brave, take a big gulp and you will get it down. And I hope you have all remembered to rub on the calamine lotion. No, I’m not going to do it for you. You’re all big boys now and I’m sure you don’t need my help.

Don’t forget if you fall over and scratch your knee, put up your hand and I’ll send someone over to rub it better for you.

Yes, I know it’s night time but I’ve asked a nice man upstairs to put some lights on so that you won’t get scared.

Now go on boys. Be brave. And don’t forget, we arrapeepul. “

  7. Dear Mr Sandaza,

I read your recent quotes about officials with interest: “Eventually once the officials understand that we are in fact an SPL side we will start achieving the results away from home that everyone expects from us.”

Now it seems you are a little confused about your new club. I know you used to play for St Johnstone, an SPL club. But that was before your career went downhill and you signed for a brand new third divisions club. One that has never been in the SPL, or indeed anywhere above the fourth tier of Scottish football.

And what were you implying in your statement? Do you believe that your club should receive preferential treatment from officials for some reason??

  8. The malignant governance of Scottish football is now being blamed for the imminent demise of the minis. Hertz cannae meet their players wages…..again….meanwhile the spl has not paid clubs an avg £300k each for tv rights from Sky/Espn.

Not that I give a munky’s about Hertz, but wtf is the spl playing at?

    The knife edge economy…..sharp practices.

Eeehhhh!! It is huns we are talking about.

  12. And so the great swindle begins…

FOLLOWING the announcement that The Rangers Football Club has appointed Cenkos to advise the club in relation to its plans to raise further capital, The Rangers Football Club announces today that it has appointed Capita Registrars to provide share registration services.

Charles Green, Chief Executive of Rangers, said: “From the outset, the consortium which purchased the Club has stated its commitment to giving supporters and the wider public the opportunity to buy shares in Rangers.

“The appointment of Cenkos Securities plc and Capita Registrars are important steps in the process and we are looking to continue making good progress on these matters.”

The Rangers Football Club will make further details available shortly and expects that fans will have an opportunity to register their interest in purchasing shares in The Rangers Football Club in October.

I think Hearts are calling the SPL out.

The SPL probably have some bylaw that the payment isn’t actually due till, say,December 31,but in practice has always been paid by,say August 31.

Why would the SPL do that? A punishment to the clubs for making Neil Donkey and co look stupid in the summer?

Certainly unprecedented, and I don’t believe in coincidences. Though I always loved “Chance in a Milion”

  14. Lennon n Mc....Mjallby on

Breathtaking arrogance from the midden re Annan,it looks like the hunnery is starting to realize its not getting out of that league this season and it typical style they want somebody else to pay their bills re Templeton’s wages.

Oh the dignity,I wish nothing but ill upon them.

  15. Chris Graham the inhouse pseudo-genius over at FF has said:

“I think if you look at the context of the time in which these schemes operated it is quite clear that these players would have been signed whether EBTs were used or not. Murray would simply have taken more money from the bank. I don’t accept a sporting advantage was gained through an administrative breach and I don’t agree that it is the SPLs remit to punish Rangers over tax issues when that is being done by the tax authorities.”

This is the same business model as the crazy doctor “No Surrender” Johnston- Alistair suggested the Rangers debt should have been transferred and off-loaded to the MIH debt, as clearly it was only a “piffling amount in the scale of the overall Murray generated debt”. Forgetting to mention, in a moment of self-censor, that Rangers had already written off £70m of debt to MIH in previous years. If that isn’t cheating then what do Chris Graham and Alistair Johnston constitute as cheating? Why have these people no grasp of basic morality or ethical conduct? Swindling the public purse via tax avoidance and robbing the banks of millions is okay as long as the mighty Gers pump Celtic on the pitch? They are obsessed with being “ra peepul”- an obsession is the narrowing of experience to the point where it recognises nothing outside itself.

It reminds me of The Sorites Paradox. Anyone who has an obsession is susceptible to the fallacious reasoning that underlies the Sorites Paradox: the mad hun thinks ‘A wee bit more debt this season isn’t going to make much difference now’ and so on, ad infinitum…but there ain’t no perpetuity about debt. Yes the borrowing of some more debt in one season didn’t do Rangers in- a perverse Pyrrhic victory for the huns- but accumulated seasons of wanton debt accretion certainly killed them off.

The Banks don’t let debts go for anybody- no matter what high pretensions you might think of yourself. It may even be a case of the Gambler’s fallacy. But you can’t beat the house, no matter how well the dice runs initially or how favoured the house is to your indulgences- that is certainly true when the gamblers ‘Casino House’ is the bank.

But then they had Murray the mad hatter in charge during the casino years and guys like Johnston, Ogilvie, McLelland, Bain etc by his side- with many of them dipping their grubby mitts into the sticky jar. Chris Graham says: “If it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be: but as it isn’t, it ain’t. That’s logic.”
