Ladbrokes SPFL-PR warning media to stop title stripping talk

1623

I’m told by a broadcast journalist friend that Jim Traynor, of PR company Level5, started Newco Rangers broadcast media conference yesterday with a warning to journalists that discussion about title stripping was off limits.

The law was that if manager Mark Warburton was asked about the proposed sanction for Oldco Rangers financial doping the conference would be stopped.

Say what you like about journalists, but they regard being told what to ask, or not to ask, as a line in the sand issue. Traynor, a journalist for decades, should have known better than to make such a rookie mistake.

He was told that attempts to subvert discussion about Oldco being stripped of titles is not something that would be accommodated. By the broadcast media, anyway.

Warburton was subsequently asked about title stripping and although he was happy to answer, I’m told, this angered the would-be news-denier, whereupon he “lost his temper”.

Post-conference there was a bit of chat about how they would be able to appropriately report on less-partisan issues, like the Level5 PR-controlled Ladbrokes SPFL, although there was a consensus that “He’ll fall out with everyone soon enough. He always does”.

  2. Title stripping: we are hoping that Celtic or other runner-up clubs insist that The tires be stripped. Or maybe the SFA / SPFL or another outside body take the matter to justice.

I was surprised at that if I am honest, he didn’t fancy KC from the onset, but he now plays him when fit, I don’t think he fits into RD’s kinda thinking, just another piece of the puzzle that cements the idea that he is not in control of players in or out.

I take it that’s either irony or a typo. RFC and honourable in the same sentence!

It’s like dignity……those who have it don’t go on about it. They are never done telling us how dignified they are.

  10. Not interested in the shenanigans and squirming of the followers of a deceased entity apart from the mirth it brings. They cheated – we know it they know it the whole fecking world knows it. But yet we know that no amount of hand wringing and demanding retrospective punishment will induce those in power in Scottish football to allow this to happen.

Me i’m more interested in what is happening at Celtic. Articles such as this are, imo, an attempt at deflection and distraction from the seeming malaise and lack of leadership at ‘our’ club. It really is similar to the SMSMs tactic of focusing on our latest euro humbling and Ronnie for the sack rather than on the perilous financial state of their favourite tribute act playing out of Ibrox.

Still very p’d off at that display last night. Chris Sutton summed it up, clueless, naïve , lack of fight, not the Celtic way. Only young Tierney has the right to feel pride in pulling on the Celtic jersey. The rest can all be sold and we’d be well rid of them, shameful display.

Ronnie for me was a busted flush the minute he let it be know that Ciftci was his number on transfer target. Can we win our next 2 Euro game, yes, will we? Most unlikely.

I don’t want to get into arguments or name calling and I appreciate many celtic supporters are defensive of the club the manager and players because of the constant anti celtic bias of the Scottish media but ronny has to go. 27. Anytime there is a shot on the Celtic goal, I don’t expect Gordon to save it. A pale imitation compared to last year.

  28. eddieinkirkmichael on

I, like almost every fan in the stadium was pissed off last night at the result and the overall performance.

Major setback with our record signing being hauled off after 4 mins.

2 disallowed goals, keeper making 2 great saves to deny us in the second half. Griff missing a 1 on 1.

    Yes very disappointed.

For me though it’s not as simple as some appear to believe, for 1 Ronny’s record in Europe compares with WGS and Lenny.

The thing that does it for me though is the fact that I actually enjoy watching us play just now, something I couldn’t say under WGS or Lenny where we ground out results.

Seemingly the team the couldn’t beat Hamilton and then lost the league by being beat against a very poor Inverness side was superior to this one.

I’ll stick with Ronny, the gamblers out there can continue giving their hard earned cash to the bookies.

  29. Awe naw…

The thing that sickens me most is the denial.

Since the latest EBT decision (the true and honest verdict) ive had Huns tell me, they were legal when we used them…

Can’t you just get on with it, we’re still the same team, btw, I diluted that.

The one thing that has not changed is their support are bigoted bas***s, that will never change.

Well it might, now we have bigoted bas***s with a boulder on their shoulder.

If they survive and come up, all hell will be let loose, as they will expect to win but with the team they have, they will be getting pumped regularly.

A wounded animal springs to mind.

Although I do think Ronny Deila is a complete dud as manager of Celtic, the sad truth is that the best possible manager Celtic could obtain would tear his/her hair trying to get Kris Commons to track back and do a defensive shift. No matter how important the game is, there are players at Celtic unwilling to put in the level of endeavour required for modern football. This is just as applicable to many players, coaches and fans in Scotland. The number of times people on here want a player to “…put their foot on the ball…”, I’m afraid such thinking is at least 25 years out of date. Today, that means being pressured or tackled within 2 seconds of receiving the ball. Players these days need to think and act much quicker than before, if they can’t the players aren’t good enough and if they continue to play and make the same mistakes, its the managers fault for not seeing or fixing.
