Larsson, Lennon and Brown

Friday is the 8th annual Celtic Quick News Open.  The event, in which our guest speaker will be Livingston FC Manager and former Celt John Hughes, is completely booked up with a record 54 golfers. In addition to playing golf and having fun the CQN Open raises funds for good causes

Our good causes this year are The Haven Centre in Blantyre, Oscar Knox Neuroblastoma Appeal, Martin Chambers Ecuador Trust and Aberdour Primary School Parents’ Association.

We have already distributed over £2000 thanks to the sale of a Joseph Gormley painting back in April. We have two further fantastic paintings by Joseph; one of Scott Brown and one of Henrik Larsson. We also have a wonderful signed Neil Lennon print by the artist Gary Brandham.

The items are being raffled on ebay right now for the price of a £1 ticket. Winners will be drawn at the CQN Open on Friday night. There will be further raffles and auctions on Friday night with some excellent golfing and other sporting activities been donated by the Celtic family. Perhaps the pick is a limited edition canvas print of John Thomson, donated by the John Thomson Memorial Committee. There are only 22 of these in the entire world, representing the 22 years of John’s life.

This is a unique opportunity to win three great pieces of Celtic memorabilia, items which would normally be pushed out of the reach of most people at auction. Tickets cost £1, buy as many as you like, but participate. This is what your club is all about!

Many congratulations to Sean Fallon on his 90th birthday. I am delighted his autobiography is currently being written. Sean is our last remaining link to huge parts of our history. He was there, participating in the decision process, on so many of the things we now take for granted. The research, preparation and publicity surrounding his autobiography will be an opportunity to make sure younger generations get to appreciate the great resource he is. Let’s hope we get a CQN interview one day.

Sighs of relief will be heard around many dens of iniquity as Rangerstaxcase sails into the sunset; well done on excellent work. RTC’s “99% crap” has teased, entertained and informed for over a year. History is already being rewritten, but the inescapable fact is that Rangers diaspora were far better served by RTC than by the army of cheerleaders Sir David Murray or Craig Whyte depended upon to make their work possible.

The ‘buy lots of raffle tickets’ message if for you, b.t.w. so what are you waiting on, they are only £1 each!!!

  3. If I died and some geezer comes off the street and moves into my house and into my wives bed…he calls himself Mr Wonky…my wife, my family, my neighbours and even all my friends say that thon geezer is me! Is he me then? Could this in theory happen indefinitely, thereby creating an immortal Mr Wonky?

My birth-marriage-death certificate say’s otherwise- but everyone shares in the conspiracy to deny the essential reality whilst colluding to maintain the illusionary continuity of Mr Wonky…what do you do?

wonkyradar – what do you do?

My friend Doug Quaid had a similar problem.

Needless to say, after a dodgy spell where he took to wearing a towel on his head, consorting with triple-breasted ladies of the night and midgets, and a run-in with Dick Jones of OCP, everything worked out fine in two weeks. (thumbsup)

As I said, no doubt he will be advising us of the terms of the contract and the implications for our club and the newclub, as he appears to have been fully involved.

Hopefully he will brief Paul67 about all the details of the deal

I hear combined Sky/ESPN deal is £13M/year, less £1M to SFL, about the same as last year as it happens, but £3M down on recent offer.

Snake Plissken – Maybe the offer would’ve been better had the chief execs of the SFA and SPL not spent the past few months telling the world that Scottish football isn’t commercially viable without the huns being in the first division or higher. (thumbsup)

really good post – I completely agree with it. It doesn’t just affect celtic either. Why did a couple of falkirk fans not buy the club, start borrowing a modest few million, pick up a domestic cup or two, get into europe, and then, when it “all became a bit much…” simply liquidate, walk away, and let a few other falkirk fans come in with a phoenix organisation which is ….”still falkirk FC.”

The situation is ridiculous. Clearly all other clubs’ fans should be protesting against this.

It’s strange that you posted the companies house details from ff not long after I was asking for details of Sevco on the Company House website.

I read the DMail online, and in the comments section against a story about Green and bigotry, some numbnuts are talking about Celtic being a new company since ’94 and also being called Pacific Shelf. I’ve added a few comments myself to update them on the true situation with regards to our club thanks to your info.

  17. Think Doncaster will be gone now. Lawwell intervention has swung the deal. Anybody know hou much Peter got?

Obviously Doncaster went down came back Lawwell ans Milne have went move over and we will sort.

Guys like Doncaster, Thompson and Johnson have at long last been removed from these negos and real business men have taken over.

  18. When we have the CE of the SFA is telling the world the product is rubbish then it’s no surprise that we cannot get a TV deal consistent with the quality of the product and exposure.

  20. Ach….it makes me sick….so the ss morphing from rankers is the preferred/ accepted bizness model in Scotia now? Okay, let’s go and spend gazillions, then in a few seasons we can stoat off down to divvy 3 and play catch-up wi’ the ss,who’ll be in the two-tier spl by then, having signed Messi & Ibrahimovic.

Okay…..that’s it….I’ll buy merch. etc., but until we’re outta here I’m done with the game in Scotland. Today,we have watched it become the equivalent of a fantasy game on a console, less than wwf even.

Until the ***** from iPox are taught some humility,I’m done.

  22. When does the transfer window close please?

We don’t often see much Celtic business til the latter part of it…

  23. Snake Plissken on

Aye we can all thank Doncaster, Regan and the endless procession of mouthpieces from the media telling us everything was garbage minus the animals.

Well as the TV deal was a pittance anyway it will make no big impact but the rush to put them into the SPL after a year is now not going to make such a big sway over the waverers in the SPL who would support it and that clown Johnson.

The money is less but it isn’t fatally less. Sky were always going to offer less and Peter Lawwell has said yes because he cannot want them back into the SPL debt free and cheating their way to their first titles denying us of European revenues.

Not a great deal but better than nothing and better than having them in the SPL.

Unfortunately that blogger is probably the Norwich equivalent of the guy who posted on here earlier extolling the virtues of Bangura!

We are carrying 3 unfit for purpose players in Bangura, Rasmussen and Murphy. We cannot afford another mistake. Rather persist with Tony Watt than roll the dice again.

Another Norwich blog that rates Vaughan.

Every year, every team will have those players that define their season or are a major reason they do what they do. Last year, the fans saw those players as David Fox, John Ruddy and Grant Holt by voting them into their top 3 in the Player of the Year award.

Who will be those players this season and who could be the one to give us those much needed points for survival… or better?

    James Vaughan

The player I was most excited about last summer and a player I`m very confident he will end up being Paul Lambert`s best signing for the club. Unfortunate with injuries last season he has started this year`s pre season in fantastic form and is looking as sharp as ever. With pace to burn, I think he could get 10-15 goals if kept fit. Personally, I think a front two partnership of Holt and Vaughan could be deadly. Imagine being a centre half and having to mark either a big, strong striker with great movement, or a very quick striker who you`re probably going to spend most of your time chasing. I wouldn`t fancy facing either of them!

@HarryBradyCU Looking at the various issues, looks like clubs excluding Celtic will be down £100K on last year = 200 or so season tickets.

RRC – It is possible I’m confused since I’m freebasing on E-Lites and Stabilo Boss highlighter pens (yellow).

I don’t think I ever saw that film. Arnie films pre-turn of the century were full of awesome and win, but afterwards not so much.

Sort of like how the likes of Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin used to be great too, but now you wouldn’t pay money to see them in a movie.

Anyway, our friend wonkyradar does seem to be stuck in a classic Philip K. Dick scenario. Perhaps he’s a Nexus-6? (thumbsup)

I am truly sorry to hear of your negative experience with Mr Mario, the Italian plumber. If you had only come to me sooner, I could have pointed you in the direction of several highly competent plumbing engineers not all of whom are Italian.

I will admit ‘though that as a race the Italians can come across as a rum lot! And that is coming from someone who is of Italian extraction; oh, have I already mentioned that? Well anyway, believe me when I say this: they are not all like Mr Mario – you just had an unpleasant and unfortunate experience, and I sincerely hope that Clyde, the tortoise and any other pet you may have have not suffered unduly!

I also hope, and pray, that this episode has not caused you to develop a pathological hatred and fear of all things Italian!

The Orcs are also having great difficulty with the concept of incorporation.

    The Concise Oxford Dictionary:

“incorporate – Unite (in one body; combine (ingredients) into one substance; constitute as a legal corporation.”

Somewhat inconveniently puts paid to the recently developed concept of club and company being separate entities. The fact that the moribund club has the words “Rangers Football Club Ltd.” above its gates really ought to have been a clue.

  30. Initial thoughts are that I hope there’s a get out clause in the sky deal.

CFC need to cut our own deal and include our worldwide support in a decent affordable Celtic tv deal, to hell with sky sports.
