Legia looming

847

Celtic have played four games against Polish opposition, losing to Legia Warsaw and Wisla Crakow in 2006 friendlies, drawing thanks to a very late Kenny Dalglish goal against Wislaw, before losing the return game. We’re going to need to break new ground if we’re to reach the Champions League play-off round.

As I predicted, you can ignore the 1-1 draw with St Pat’s last week, Legia are a far better team than that result suggested and it now looks like they have thrown off their summer slumber.

Time to hit form, Celtic.

Legia Warsaw progressed as expected despite St Pat’s away goal in the first round. I reckon they are a step up from KR, but a few steps behind Celtic, glad the first tie is away.

    …………………………….

Watched all of last night’s game and would agree with you. When it went to 2-0 the heart was knocked out of St. Pat’s and they fell to pieces. If we play to our capabilities we should go through but the horror show that was our away tie to Elfsborg last season would see us in a lot of trouble. Radovic will have more difficulty getting past Virgil and Efe than he did last night and the left winger who ran riot late in the game will have much more difficulty with Lustig. Ronny and JC will plan out how to negotiate these games.

I watched Zysbek’s video last night of the Legia fans in their final game of last season against Lech Poznan and the atmosphere was incredible. I would hope thaut someone shows this to Ronny. I wouldn’t want any of our younger players to be put off by the atmosphere.

absolutely shocking result for Murderwell, they were playing against a part-time team who are the equivilant of Scottish junior clubs.

On the plus side though Lasley was booked.

That’s what happens to Lasley when you have a referee who doesn’t allow you to mug people on the field of play – nugget.

I’m pleased for St Johnstone as a club but having the likes of the media catchphrase, good honest pro, like Frazer Wright, grates with me.

He is one of their four players along with Scobie, Steven McLean & Murray Davidson who didn’t applaud our players onto the park in our last game of 2012/13 season.

Wright then elbowed Mikael in the coupon and moaned about getting pulled up by the Sfa for it.

Last season’s Champions League group away games brought back our goal shy performances of old. Hopefully, we can get back to scoring goals away in Europe again. The Europa League games of Neil’s first season, we scored in two of our three away games then we scored in all our european away games except Rubentus, the following season.

It’s vitally iimportant we create and take as many chances as possible in European away games.

  14. Just a bit of perspective, Real have sold Rodrigues shirts worth more than we got from the sale of Hooper and Wanyama according to Twitter. Wit friggin chance do we have if this is true?
