Legia looming

847

Celtic have played four games against Polish opposition, losing to Legia Warsaw and Wisla Crakow in 2006 friendlies, drawing thanks to a very late Kenny Dalglish goal against Wislaw, before losing the return game. We’re going to need to break new ground if we’re to reach the Champions League play-off round.

As I predicted, you can ignore the 1-1 draw with St Pat’s last week, Legia are a far better team than that result suggested and it now looks like they have thrown off their summer slumber.

Time to hit form, Celtic.

Well done to the wee boy, unlucky Michael Jamieson,

  2. Still wrong, Awe Naw.

Repeating that stuff won’t make it come true.

Kris will be here this season. We don’t pay for what a player has already done. We pay for what he WILL do. The question is, what will Kris have in his locker when he is another year older. Ronny will figure that out in the coming months.

FF has already told us he won’t be signing another contract. As such, he’ll go when it suits us. My guess would be January.

Lustig is here in the long term.

I think Mathews will be down the road soon enough.

I wouldn’t be too worried if Commons left next year. His impact in Europe has been minimal and we could do with a younger replacement, but I am thankful for his contribution to the club overall.

I know what you mean re “simplistic” but I stand by my point, Israel knows what will bring about a just and lasting peace though for whatever reason it has chosen not to persue peace.

I was on Buchanan Street just after four today and who walks by but a certain Ronnie Deila, just looking like he was ordinary bloke in his shorts and t shirt.

Thankfully, he wasn’t getting any grief. Nice to see a Celtic manager being able to walk through the town freely.

We had a great time at Murrayfield & Edinburgh on Tuesday. I was fortunate enough to get away from work at three and parked off Palmerston Place on Belford Rd, a 5 minute walk from Haymarket. I think the Britannia hotel that some posters on here stayed in was nearby. 20 – 25 minute walk from Murrayfield. There was loads of parking spaces on Belford Road, mind you it was £2.20 an hour.

We hung back leaving Edinburgh to about 11.15 and still got stuck in a traffic jam in Corstophen then in the never ending line of rear red lights in front of us on the westbound M8. The last time I saw a sight like that was coming up the M6 & A74 after the Vienna match.

We walked back from Murrayfield to Haymarket in ten minutes up Roseburn Street and along the closed to traffic Corstophen Road. It was the hottest walk since going from the Seville stadium back to hotel. It might be better for those going to Haymarket to walk rather than wait ages for a tram.

Italiabhoy, your post about Dodgy Dave watch & weep regarding the open ceremony made my night.

On the issue of strengthening the team I believe we will all be a little surprised by Ronny’s signings.

Why, well he came from out the blue and we still don’t know to much about him but I suspect over the last couple of years he has saw one or two players that caught his eye but were probably beyond his employers price bracket. While we don’t have the same financial resourses as others I think those that Ronny has seen will be in our bracket and he thinks they could adapt to his style of play.

I can’t really see him going for more than 3 signings in this window as I think his team will be built slowly and with care as he will know the priorty is the league and maybe a cup in his first season.

We have the squad already to win the league again, he will already know this but he will be aware by now that we have a number of players who aren’t capable of playing the game the way he wants it.

    …pfayr,

I honestly don’t think that Sammi’s departure was balance sheet linked.

Do you think that Sammi would have fitted the structure that Deila is aiming for?

I don’t and his main value for us was in siege relief in difficult away European games.

Unfortunately, those sneaky foreigners tumbled him and we lost our out ball.

I remember you on here when you were a happy, carefree lad, who always looked for the positives.
