  1. The Green Man on

You all know, that the PLC will sell our best players, and keep the money yet again.

    They are beyond the pale.

A great club driven into the ground by charlatans.

    Sad

    Sack the board.

    Those numbers are padded.

They are Dr. JR class tripe.

Even if the numbers you quote are even close then what?

Who should carry the can for all these agent friendly / CFC value destroying buys?

We had a transfer surplus coming in from 2012/13.

We had the cash injection from the 2012/13 CL campaign.

We had the money from the “Big Three” 2013 transfers out.

We have the money from the 2013/14 CL Campaign.

    We have the money available.

Just a case that we don’t want to spend it.

We are looking are crowds of 25 and 30K this season in the SPL.

Just when will enough be enough for you?

The “House the Fergus Built” is being destroyed by the greed of PL and the wilful indifference of DD — The Irish Raj.

  3. The manager needs to learn quickly. The players should be ashamed of tonight, pathetic performances.

Not seeing to many SSM comments now and rightly so.Time for him to leave or stop the leas about investing in the team. The manager has been hung out to dry here.

Another cheap option given no money to bring his own players in till we qualify for the CL. Well this isn’t going well.

I seriously considered renewing my season ticket this season as I gave it up a couple of years ago through not enjoying the football, glad I didn’t as we are being taken for mugs by the board and DD. At least Desmond had the watch that disgrace tonight.

  4. Ronnie is the new Mogga with less cash to spend…………………………?

  5. Evening folks, not read back.

Gutted and shocked with the result tonight. Did not see that coming. Thought a scoring draw was on the books, maybe one or two all. Good start taking the lead and playing well in fact dominating things for a good period of the first half.

Efe Ambrose at his worst unfortunately. Two incidents that sum him up. First goal he only has to step out to play the goal scorer offside. At the second goal he is too easily barged off the ball. Although to be fair to him he was not the only one at fault on that one.

For his sending off, see the first goal. Step out and the guy is offside. Efe will never, never, ever be a defender.

Anyhow on to the managers tactics, decision making. Starting Adams against their most potent threat the right winger who was earmarked before the game by some as their most dangerous player. Starting a new signing in a vital away European tie with little match practice, not the best move in my opinion. The middle of the park needed to be more tightly packed. Biton is the natural choice for me. Charlie is too slow for midfield and is not Captain material.

Second half I thought the obvious replacement was for Biton to come on in Midfield for one of the forward players. Perhaps bring on Izzy as well. Move Matthews to right back, Lustig in Centre of defence and take off Charlie. (Too slow)

Second half. Were were too exposed, did not have the experience, savvy to retain possession that we so vitally needed with ten men. But having said that, with the Personnel used it was hard going.

At times we rode our luck, the early penalty miss. Then their excellence worked move, brilliantly saved by big Fraser. Then the big man saves the second Penalty. Brilliant, think we can get away with a 3 v 1 defeat and have a chance next week. The fourth goal lost in injury time was just unbelievable. Along ball up and a ball across the box to score. The defence and midfield nowhere. Stunningly so incompetent on so many levels.

Having said all that it’s still very early doors. In my opinion we do have a good young manager who will learn. No matter how much it hurts tonight, I believe if he is given time he will come good. But it could be a painful journey during the transition.

  6. As a long time lurker my opinion is maybe not as important as some others who talk all the time, but come on bhoys yer getting a wee bit crazy here. At home we can always win 3-0, if we dont then OK we are still Celtic ! We will go to the Europa League, and if not We will do it next time. Dont give up on us, my grandfather, father ,uncles, cousins, and friends never did or never will. We support the manager and team through good times and bad, but come on its almost always good, fill Murrayfield and make them shit themselves. COYBIG. :)

  7. Evening all again

Still not calmed down after that and reading some of the comments and squabbling going on here hardly helps.

I shall be in Edinburgh next Tuesday hoping we can claw this deficit back but not with any great expectation that we shall – we have never come back from 3 ( or more down). Not once. I’ll still support the team and the idea of Celtic but right now with our board’s supposed ‘strategy’ I find it hard to put into words how I currently feel. Disillusioned certainly and disappointed with tonight specifically but there is something deeper. Disenfranchised might be it. This club is in my opinion being run in a way that is totally counter to everything we should stand for.

It refuses to pay its part time employees ‘the living wage’. It takes in money from the Champions League and sales from players that it does not allow its manager to reinvest in the team. It ignores that hundreds of its own supporters to be harassed not just outside Celtic Park but within it. When we do sign players we do so , invariably it seems now, with a view to selling them for a handsome profit . That may be the way things are in this greedy game but it is repulsive that we do this. With Neil Lennon and Sammy gone – for all their imperfections- there seems to be almost no ‘soul’ inside Celtic now – although I’d accept that with Scott Brown injured that there still is somebody left who actually really cares about Celtic.

Some players really need to take a look at themselves – Ambrose, Lustig and Mulgrew were carastrophically bad tonight – and I think we have a stinker of a manager who will turn out to be as bad as any manager we have ever had. Unlike others here I sincerely hope he proves me wrong even if I fear that under his leadership we’ll be doing well to get one trophy this season. But in the grand scheme of these things having players who have shot their bolts and a lousy coach are part of the risks , hell the fun, of the game. But having a hierarchy who want to downsize our club , who regard their supporters as either a cash cow or an embarrassment, who think they are incapable of error – the same people who chose Tony Mowbray – and who think they are Celtic well that is a cause for worry.

I know it’s only a game and that there are horrifying things been done a couple of thousand miles away in Syria, Gaza , Iraq and Libya but this blog is about Celtic and in the context what is happening at our club is important. And I do not like what is being done – and that does not mean I am a Hun or a troll. But I’ll be there at Miurrayfield.

  8. Think club do a great job financially but bonus incentive contracts as they stand should be ripped up and rewritten to be heavier on success rather than player sales profit for our executives allied with a change in policy with regards player investment over player potential profit.

Nice to see Dermott made a visit to Poland tonight.

Mr Z. Through grudging and gritted teeth. Congratulations to you on your teams victory tonight. Sorry but best I can offer you. ;)

I have been a huge fan of DD over the years.

I am now feeling that it is time for new leadership.

A leader who has a plan to get us into the higher levels of English football.

Or a leader that can get Sky to spend a proportionate amount of money on SCOTTISH FOOTBALL.

As things stand Sky don’t want competition for EPL viewing figures.

What should happen is the money from Scottish subscribers should be reinvested in Scottish football.

We should have summer football that doesn’t clash as much with the EPL matches.

At present there is very little interest in Scottish football from Sky subscribers who live outside Scotland.

If the standard was better ,it if didn’t clash with the EPL TV schedules as much, then Scottish football could be an attractive option to watch especially during the close season and early part of the EPL season.

We need politicians and football leaders who will force Sky to give a proportionate share of Scottish subscriptions back into the Scottish game.

    If not .

We need to get into the EPL.

Our problems stem from;a de facto owner who is more interested in profit. than sporting success

The renovam of Rangers from the scene making European progression the only guage of success.

An obssesion with EPL entry. Low margins with high gains. See point one.

We only budget for Europa League entry regardless of how well we perform in continued CL forays. No gamble is being made. That alone tells you the extent of our ambitions.

I am glad Lenny seem through it all. He would not have deserved that tonight. Not that Ronnie does. He gets my continued support but this plc will never get it.

Tony Mowbary got fired cos Rangers were still being allowed…. they still are…to cheat. Ronnie will be given that year. Peter Lawwells job depends on it.

Like most Celtic supporters, when Ronny was appointed my immediate thought was Ronny who?

When i learned more about his philosophy about how he wants his teams to play, i was excited.

However, this excitement was tempered by the knowledge thst the vast majority of the players he inherited were not equipped to play that style of football.

Shine, as they do in the SPL, Commons and Mulgrew are slow as a very slow week in the goal, in his head, Effe is the worlds best player, but in reality he is a bomb scare. Tony Stokes has great skill but poor positional sense, poor application and, like Commons and Mulgrew, no pace.

Derk is a coward on the football field, Pukki, i don’t know where to start with him.

The one player who should be a perfect fit, poor passing aside, for Ronny,s style is Broonie, and how we missed him tonight.

The simple truth, in my eyes, is that we are a team of mediocre players. I don’t know who is responsible for that fact but it’s not Ronny.

He certainly needs to take the blame for the selection and tactics tonight and i hope he learns from it.

In my opinion, if we persist with Ronny, and we should, we need a major clear out of players, PL needs to back him up with decent funds and he needs a couple of years to build a team capable of not only reaching but competing in the CL.

More than anything though, we need out of this league in order to fulfill our potential.

Hurting tonight but still walk on with hope in my heart.

  13. My main problem tonight was,the playing of Bergets.A stupid gamble in a game we could not afford to gamble in.If that is the managers thinking,we really are in big trouble.Think about it.LG,Stokes, left on the bench for a total stranger, and a 4th pick striker from last season !!!!!!!.KC,asked to do a job that is way beyond him in Europe

The biggest sin of all was Biton on the bench. How Deila can think that Kayal is a better option, defies any belief.Just what has he been watching?.If he must play Charley and Efe,then Biton must play to cover their lack of pace/errors.

I have banged my head against the wall on here saying that EFE should be nowhere near our back 4.How many errors does it take ?.When he is doing his “Thing”the whole team get the jitters.

As I said,I aint calling for anyones head, but if the manager does not start to do some coherent things, then we are in deep trouble.

  14. Long, long time lurker on here, but first time poster. Many times I have felt compelled to go into words but never have done so, but after tonight its different.

To start with I am not a Johnnie come lately, I have been a Celtic supporter since the mid eighties, not out of choice but because my da and all his family are from Glasgow and are Celtic supporters, I was born and breed in Ireland. Long before Sky Tv Saturday afternoons were spent trying to get a reception on a radio listening to 810 Mw BBC Scotland to pick up the Celtic game, imagining in your head that you were there, even more so on a European nights. A treat for me was a friend of my dads would come around every few weeks with video tapes that had been sent from Fife with Sportscene taped on them, I would watch these over and over again, it was the only way I got to see Celtic in Ireland.

I lived through the cheating dead clubs 9 in a row, spent countless hours and money going back and forth to Glasgow on the boat from Belfast with my supporters club to watch us lose to the likes of Motherwell and Falkirk, but I still went back for more, because of the love of the Glasgow Celtic.

I was there the day the KoK stopped the cheats doing 10, the joys of the MON era, 6-2, being in Seville the pain of Black Sunday, the WGS era, beating Man U in Europe, the NFL era all great highs but with a mixture of lows, but in those lows you always knew there was light at the end of the tunnel.

Sadly after tonight I see no light and I mean that. We are not the big club that we feel we are or once were . I was in the Celtic Superstore last season with my son, he had got a new jersey, I asked did he want a number, he said nah, I’ll just get my own name. We have no household names anymore, no number 9 that kids want on their jersey, no Henrik, Sutton or Petrov. We have a team of ordinary players, how can we attract the next generation of supporters with loan signings that no one has heard off. I am well aware of financial prudence in the current climate but surely we can sign somebody that will get the support talking and excited at this rate we wont. I renewed both my sons and my season tickets, more out of blind faith than anything else but I am fed up with being taking for granted. The look on my 9 yr olds face after the fourth went in tonight said it all. Ive been there before so know what he feels like. Why when we get in a position of strength do we pull it all apart, FF and VVD no doubt will be for the off. We will be glued to transfer deadline day waiting for the big transfer that never happens, we all do it.

Its great to have the memories but I found that all rather depressing tonight, certain players clearly could not care less anymore, I know they dont intentionally go out to lose, but I wonder if they feel the pain as much as a 9 year old did tonight, I doubt it.

Tomorrow I will wake up a Celtic supporter and will be grateful for it. Before going to work tomorrow I will take my lad to his summer football camp. He will be the only one wearing the Hoops there, everyone else will be Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea, I live in England now. I often ask myself am I being fair on him giving him the Celtic bug when he could be supporting the Man Utds with their superstars like Van Persie, because lets face it we will never have players of that calibre anytime soon. Then I look at the ornament on our mantlepiece of Mr Stein holding the European Cup and think Celtic is more than just a football club which hopefully my boy will appreciate when he gets older and thats why we go back for more.

  15. I think the Board grin when we win and point to the ‘strategy’…

Tonight they must shoulder the blame. They must rethink the strategy.

  16. So many Celtic fans being accused of being huns tonight due to (correctly) venting their anger after an inexcusable display.

Frankly, I would question the support of any fan who was not disgusted by what we have just witnessed.

I read this sight every day but very rarely comment, the reasone being is…… Other than 100% acceptance of what happens at Celtic park is seen as being a traitor or worse, a hun.

There are a good few bhoys that need to have a look at their unequivocal support of the boards policy and admit that perhaps they were wrong. I don’t expect they have the humility do so, I also expect to be labeled a hun.

I know how I feel about my club, I need or care for anyone to tell me what I should say or think.

Celtic are all about the money and are as far away from the origins of the club that many would dare admit.

Your post earlier about Berget’s start has struck a cord with this observer.

My main concern is that in any team game

your debut is important. The king of kings

may have inadvertently set up a Hibs goal

but effort & commitment were never lacking. Tonight Berget was a Pukki impersonator. No physical input, nothing

for the team. No chasing a lost cause.

Our new manager had the bottle to admit

his selection mistake by bringing on Izzy

    in the 2nd half.

    A small positive.

My only optimism lies in the performance of McGregor. Flawed optimism as youth

    needs experience beside them.

If offered a Lubo right now the accountants would sabotage the move due to no resale

    value.

I worry about Celtic tonight. HH.

Remember the days before the internet when you went home disappointed after a loss yet you shook the defeat off knowing there was always another better day

What has happened in the last 4 weeks that has made Deila go against his own advice?

Ronnie’s own words were that we wouldnt start the Ronnie way, we would start the Lennon way because thats what the players are comfortable with.

He said himself that theres no reason to force through any radical changes straight away so for the CL qualifiers he would stick with the above.

    What changed?

Why did he go completely Deila?

Why did he fall in to the trap of playing a player out of position (Matthews @ left back – and please, the good game against Barca is way in the past compared to the sporadic appearances there since)

Why did he pick a complete stranger for such an important game!?

At the 1st time of asking Deila has been found wanting.

His lack of any tactic after going down to 10 men and the events which proceeded was pure rabbit in the headlights.

Getting caught on the counter with 2 mins to go in a match we had been roasted in to lose a 4th goal was absolutely criminal – however I think this is probably down to the individual players themselves.

  28. Losing had nothing to do with the board tonight. The players should hang their heads in shame. Losing that 4th goal, in that manner, is unforgivable. I was raging at losing a lazy 3rd but the 4th was schoolboy stuff. And that us extremely harsh on school football!

  33. I posted this just before Ronny was appointed.

I really can’t believe that Celtic are prepared to take the gamble on Delia. Im hearing “now is the time, what have we got to lose? The very thing that keeps the operation ticking over CL money. Without a credible challenge for the league Celtic have two main but crucial objectives. Win the league and qualify for group stages CL. Nothing else really matters in the grand scheme of things.

So with that in mind who would you back to get us there. Someone with next to no european experience who has done well in Norway but with all due respect ive seen the standard in Norway and its not great.

Or someone like Steve Clarke who has already worked with the best players and has that know how. Who is the gamble here?

Are we really needing to re-invent the wheel because the way i see it get into CL group stages for the next two years and we blow domestic rivals away maybe even put one of them down for good.

I was surprised(although i shouldnt have been) how many people see Delia as the correct fit.

The public want what the public get.

This is the mother of all gambles and being so close to losing last year im surprised the happy clappers are willing to gamble again.
