Life truisms and leaving extra in the Hampden lockers

1052

There are truisms in life.  The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, night follows day and Hibernian Football Club will not win the Scottish Cup.  However, a failure to lift the trophy since Orville said to Wilbur, ‘I bet this thing gets off the ground’, does not guarantee subsequent failures.  Hibs have already beaten Celtic this season and are perfectly capable of doing so again on Sunday.

Before this season Kilmarnock hadn’t won at Celtic Park since 1955, but it happened.  St Johnstone, Motherwell, St Mirren, Inverness and Ross County beat us too.  All these defeats were against the odds; no more so than Hibs are on Sunday.

Celtic need to get in touch with how they felt after their League Cup semi-final defeat to St Mirren, a day of so much regret.  The 90 minutes will pass quickly, there’s no point leaving something in your locker for next week. Let’s get off to a flier.

Many thanks for sending over your Seville photographs, we are planning to pull photos and your comments on the event together into a special publication.  If you have any more please send them in, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

Willie Wallace will be signing copies of his book at Waterstones on Sauchiehall St between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, 25th May.  Bet he knows what he was doing that very afternoon 46 years earlier.  Get along to see him or order your own signed copy below. This is going to be a great weekend.

For 95% Legia Warsaw are the Champions this year here. In third round of the CL qualifications, both Legia and Celtic will be seaded teams and cannot play against each other. In play offs, it’s only Celtic who will be seaded team. Who knows, maybe we will meet earlier ?

I know there are a lot of err senior Celtic supporters on CQN ! Does anyone have any information on the Brake clubs that supporters used to travel on ?

The wealth of talent that is available to Porto, Benfica et al from South America is staggering. We haven’t a hope in hell of competing with that. The language is the same ( for the Brazilians) or the climate, football is much more compatible than what Scotland could offer.

The EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Russian Premier League can afford to get it wrong with a few million. We cannot. It is getting harder every year to unearth gems.

I am rather old, but the Brake clubs were even before my time!

That’s weird I was on their site earlier and they have several photographs of supporters clubs banners including the Brake clubs. It’s what prompted my question.

As a kid I used to walk along Prospecthill Rd to Hampden past the supporters buses. Used to love reading the legends on the shields and figuring out the distances the buses had travelled.

Yeah they did mate. I think it’s highly unlikely that any CQN blogger would have first hand knowledge. Was asking more about general knowledge.

Just reading that stuff about some clubs rejecting and wanting to join the spl, looks to me like trying to force a spl2 through confusion.

They were offered 12-12-18 the same deal should be put on the table, if st midden and Ross c BV it out again then they should be offered a place with the sfl

Unpredictable team. Two years ago we knocked back Spartak Moscow who were not weaker team than that Spartak one year back. We were unlucky in 1/16 LE Cup final against Sporting Lisbon. Last year we were knocked back by poor Rosenborg Trondheim in injury time, when the players were sure that the game was won.

It’s first time this year when Poland starts league games before qualifications. I hope we will do better this year.

Duff and Phelps= another example of the teflon nature of yon deid club and those associated with them

    ………..

I had hopes that a non Scottish institution might find fault with some of their actions. Not that familiar with administrators/liquidators’ rules, but it did seem that DnP were compromised at times. Their defence on the main issue was that they knew Whyte was talking to Ticketus about money but not about money to fund the whole purchase.

How much faith should we have in a profession investigating itself? A bit like the police investigating complaints against the police maybe.

Whole thing still smells, so maybe BDO will expose more.

    RWA…,

I’m thinking if your earlier statement about the D status on the shares is correct then, the decision to clear their name will be ridiculed and seen for what it is, a trade organisation trying to cover up and maintain an undeserved reputation for integrity.

Exactly what all self regulating lies claim

  28. Were Duff & Duffer not cleared of conflict of interest in taking on the role Of Administrators as distinct of anything they might have done in carrying out their role. Having said that I’m inclined to agree with Tiny Tim, I don’t expect the suits to turn on each other. Our main hopes rest on Craigy taking Chuck to Court & winning and secondly the whole thing drifting aimlessly with the money draining away. At the end of the day its always about money, I remember a slogan written on a Public Toilet wall in Cork many years ago. “Life is like a sh** sandwich, the less bread you’ve got the more sh** you’ve got to eat”. Lets hope the zombies have an unpleasant diet for many years.

Really no surprised the our darling Charlotte is showing a bit of leg tonight, especially when the evidence proves inhouse trade investigations clear their award winning champions of all potential irregularities.

Can someone remind me who won the the awards issued by the investigative body last year ?
