  1. The thing that annoyed me the most about bitton tonight wasnt the sideways passing pish.

It was the amount of 50/50 tackles he lost out on. No dig for a central midfielder, especially the holding central midfielder!

    Spineless

  2. The Bedouin’s wear black, most people who spend a lot of time in the sun wear black, I wear black/dark colours most of the time in the summer, much cooler than white.

  3. Hi Brendan, if you’re lurking, I hope you learned something about the squad you’ve just inherited!

    Ambrose, liability!

Christie, not ready for the step up yet.

Brown, as mobile as a snail with a limp, who can only pass the ball in the direction he receives it from.

Bitton, lazy sod, who only shows interested in the ball when the team are playing well.

Kennedy, maybe now you’ve realised he knows hee-haw about defence coaching. (see Ambrose!)

That was the most embarrassing result I can ever remember. At least Neuchatel Xamax were full-timers!

Steep learning curve required Brendan, I hope you’re prepared for it!!

  4. Why does Allan need a chance ? Or a game ?

Couldn’t get a game under Ronny, and now under Brendan this far

I hear he is not impressive at training ????

Forrest 6 months left, let go

Rogic in last year, and no sign of resigning, sell

    Johansen in last year, sell

Commons in last year, could go

    Efe – just let go

    Janko – not impressed

    Bitton, going backwards

Brown, so off form, and bringing nothing to team

Allan, can’t get into squad, sell

Ciftci – what was the question

  5. Dearie me, mouth still wide open in utter amazement of how poor a performance that was both on the pitch and tactically from BR. Had to do a few double takes to remind myself that Ronnie wasn’t in the hot seat such was the ineptitude of the performance. I guess it still is Ronnie’s team and all Brendan has done is reshuffle the pack with the same sad result. Worst result in our illustrious history??? Confident we will win the tie but I think anyone who believes this current squad is capable of reaching the CL proper is having a laugh.

We should be biting the hand off anyone who offers us money for anyone in the current squad.

  8. That will just not do Celtic. It will not do by a long way and on several fronts.

No actually, I’m not even going to start just now.

But I really do hope that lessons have been learned tonight and that changes will be implemented.

Before this match our manager said we’re still a long way off where we want to be. Not daft is he? Hopefully he wasn’t involved in the decision to send the team out in black strips in that level of heat and humidity though, because that is a schoolboy error. Maybe the imps will Return the favour though and dress up in sumo suits or something for the return.

It’s not funny any more, some serious work to be done before next week.

    Hail Hail,

  9. OK,never done physics so i googled it,

apparently it is better to wear black in hot weather

It’s always the same when a new man comes in.

Everybody gets the chance to prove themselves in knock up games, – whilst the ‘long suffering’ support have been witnesses for seasons.

BR is a victim (well paid) at the moment, it happens to all new Celtic managers.

We’ll see how he shapes up when he has had time, to get rid and buy his own players.

  11. mike in toronto on

A team with no mid lacks heart and brains. I defended NB on here, as I think he has some skill, but he simply doesn’t seem to want to take any responsibility. SB has heart, but not much football intelligence.

With a big black hole in the middle of the team, nothing else will function.

The 4231 really doesn’t suit the players we have … I think we use it because we believe that we have an abundance of the ‘3-1’ type players and are trying to fit a system that fits the hightest number of our players … but that system (at least the way we play it) puts too much pressure on the 2 (which is where we are weakest).

Another system would be preferable … but, if we are going to keep using that formation (or some variant of it), play LH instead of SB, and anybody (SA – either one, or Ajer) instead of NB …

they may not be the answer … but we wont know until we try …. what we do know is that SB and NB do not work.

  12. any possible suitors watching tonight for any of our current squad will more than likely look elsewhere or erase a zero from the end of their initial valuation.

  13. So the appeal to the past went unnoticed. Tant pis.

In that case, let us assess the performance of a Dead Big Team against A Diiddy Team. (I shall give you a clue: it was not good). Turns out that whatever the manager, GCFC don’t have the players to beat Diiddy teams.

On the p!us side, we learnt that Griffiths is the best outside right since Jinky.

If Brendan’s lurking he has learned to wear black to absorb the heat, ( or is it white ) maybe tinfoil.

  15. PMYH,

  17. We will still go through i expect, however there were a few things tonight that have me really worried,

1, Roberts did not play any part, unfathomable.

2, McGregor did not play any part, as above.

3, Brown and Bitton in midfield, see above.

4, Johansen would have played tonight if fit.

In terms of the result, well that’s football, it happens. And the pitch was a factor no doubt. But and it’s a really big but, if the 4 issues above are do not change i absolutely guarantee you we will not qualify for the CL group stages. Not a hope in hell.

  18. Neganon, you claim those who have ST’s this year are at the back of the bus, I still disagree, we’re not, but you’re not even on the bus.

The Bedouins don’t wear black, they wear white.

    ………………………………………………………………………………………

They wear black or dark in the sun, at least they did when I was with them, maybes those who write about it don’t actually know what they are talking about :-)

  20. Amongst the understandable disappointment, this will only worst result if we go out next week. Is there a risk of that? Yes there is, but it think it’s unlikely. The pitch and the heat combine to make already average players a lot worse.

On a positive tack, hopefully now the Efe experiment is over. Those of us accused of being negative about him can consider ourselves vindicated. And equally hopefully Brendan Rodgers will have scratched that itch and we’ll never see him again.

We already knew that squad was bad. It’ll take time to get new players in and get us moving, but hopefully that’ll be hand.

Sadly, if our board only had the same potential for improvement then things might be rosier. The football will improve, the board are still shysters.

  21. Biggest tragedy for me tonight was meeting 2 lost kids on way home from my mates.

    4 & 5 years old….lost @ 10 o’clock at night ffs.

Nearly went in and caused a stooshy when I got them ‘home’ but sadly would have made no difference.

Still angry…Celtic can wait for now.

Agree, but just as we were building up a good profile re ST’s etc. this is a bit of a blip.

  23. In the lounge in Dubai. Never saw a ball kicked. That is up there with, no it is the worst result in our history!

If we don’t turn this tie round in some style next week Rodgers should resign. Deila would have been fired tomorrow for that.

  24. I freely admit I hadn’t a clue, googled it and found the following. At least it beats talking about football.

We’re all encouraged to wear white in summer, since white clothing is supposed to keep us cool — but it doesn’t. In fact, black clothing is the best way to keep cool in the heat. It’s basic physics. And biology. Find out why cool people will wear black this summer.

Generally in summer, we’re treated to lines of loose summery white clothing. Not only is the white supposed to look nice floating around the edges of a picnic — until a few seconds into the event, when it has its first grass stain — people claim that white is the ideal way to keep cool in the summer. When we see white, we’re seeing the combination of all possible visible light. This means that white clothing reflects a great deal of wavelengths of energy coming in. This means it should reflect the sun’s rays back, instead of letting them cook us. And that’s perfectly correct.

Except that this explanation is also incomplete. Heat is not just coming in off of the sun. It’s also coming off a person’s own, sweating, warm-blooded, mammalian body, which is a lot closer than the sun is. When all that body heat hits the white clothing covering it, it gets reflected right back towards the body. When we wear white, we cook ourselves.

The best color to keep cool in the heat, it turns out, is to wear black. Black absorbs everything coming in from the sun, sure. But black also absorbs energy from the body instead of reflecting it back. Now, the helpfulness of black clothes depends on finding black clothes that are the same thickness and looseness as those summery white clothes. Black clothing also needs a little help from atmospheric conditions. Once it has absorbed heat, it has to have some way to radiate it away. If there’s even a little wind, black clothing is the better choice for those who want to keep cool, like goths who understandably don’t like sweating through their make-up. So find something black to wear this summer.

And if people ask you what you’re in mourning for, tell them you mourn their limited grasp of physics.

I think good things will come from this – they always do in the end.

Anyway, changing subject, a wee report on what I see at ground level as a bit of a worrying trend.

A few weeks ago my 19 yo daughter was in Ibiza with her mates. A cool calm girl. Anyway, they met a group of peers from England, briefly, and not recognising the highland Scottish accent, they asked where they were from. The “Scotland” reply was met with intense hostility from a few of the guys of the group. It was the first time in her life she heard the “effin jock bstda” expression. The girls obviously treated it with distain and moved on.

On Sunday there, myself and my wife went into a bar in Kassipoi, Corfu. We asked the barman if they were showing the tennis. The two bulldogs on the barstools with their back to us visibly stiffened, stopped talking between themselves, and the tension in the air was obvious. “Won’t be stating for another half hour” the Greek barman says. “Ah, well, a large beer and a wine”, I says.

We sat at a table and while drinking the drinks decided that we would find somewhere else.

“I’m gonna shout Iceland forever when we leave” – I says to ma wife.

She didn’t take me on – she knows I’m not that brave / stupid.

Anyway, I suppose we’re only reeping what we’ve sewn since the 70s.

  26. This Rodgers guys is clueless.

He really thinks Celtic support will help the team next week.

Does he not know the famous Celtic way.

First missed pass and he will soon enough.

All queuing up to say they told you he was a dud “WITS” Thousands of them.

    Faithful through and through CSC.

  27. When will the dime drop.

Having signed a big name manager to flog season tickets some big name players are going to have to be signed to keep getting arses on seats.

  28. This is the worst Celtic I can ever remember. From Broonie downwards they need to go.

  29. For those who says sign new players, the best player in Scotland by an absolute mile was on our bench tonight. The only guy in the last 10 years who has had me on the edge of my Celtic Park seat. Unbelievable.
