So, we all knew this team needs sorting out, that’s why the expensive managerial team was brought in.

Let’s just leave them to it, it will be painful but hopefully not as sore as tonight. As I said yesterday, EL is our level, hopefully.

    —————

The most concerning thing about tonight, not the result, but the expensive managerial team that appear to have not watching any of this team over the past couple of seasons.

Any fan from the stands would’ve picked a better starting 11 than BR tonight, that’s a bit of a worry.

  2. Does John Kennedy who was part of the last defensive coaching set up, not open his mouth and let BR know how much of a disaster selecting EA is.

Why are we wearing black in high heat and humidity? Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!

    Bloody good point.

  4. Our James Forrest (the real one not that imposter who came on as a sub) pretty much nails it in his article on newsnow.

I SUPPORT the club to the tune of £1400 plus per year and I deserve my say.

I have been a ST holder for 20 YEARS and I will have my say, and it won’t just be on here either.

Tonight was a disgrace – disgrace to the name of Celtic FC – disgrace Celtic supporters everywhere – and a disgrace to me.

  6. Ach it just makes the second leg more interesting. Who wants to go to a game when you’re 3 or 4 up from the away leg?

  7. Aidy the Tim on

Every time I watch brown and bitton I just think karate kid……side to side. Don’t know if it is because there is no movement going forward tonight (can’t tell from tv pictures) or whether it is a routine they can’t get out of.

Thought Armstrong and Ciftci at least showed a bit of urgency when they came on.

Onwards and upwards to next week.

  8. TheLurkinTim on

    Macjay1,

Luck…..it’s more than the result that bothers most of us…..it was the lack of skill, purpose, nous….displayed by the team that annoys us…..my god, there are thousands of fans out there who could have pulled on a Celtic jersey and put together a team who would have won this tie…..without the need to demand 10k a week for the privilege

Black is actually a better colour to wear in the heat

  10. Oh I also think we should not get carried away by young Kieran Tierney. He had a truly fantastic first season and I remain very hopeful that he is the real deal and will be a Celtic star for many years to come. However, he had a poor game tonight against very difficult opponents.

  11. What is the Stars on

    Its only football lads,

    Sun will rise tomorrow

Worse things happening in the world.

And having a bad result at this time of the season can be a blessing in disguise.

start Efe at Centre Forward ( for us,not the opposition like he usually does)

No thats unfair on poor old Efe but every team needs a scapegoat …as Alan Hansen nearly said “you’ll never win anything without scapegoats”

  12. Fan-a-Tic

    I said this earlier…..

“If they fail do to the biz on the pitch it will be interesting to see what happens then”

    Well they failed big time.

Last season I said time and time again that we should play the weans, they play without fear, they wouldn’t have lost tonight, they would imo have won tonight, they would have won handy.

But I am not paid millions to make these decisions, that is now down to BR and his side kicks, but they need to get things sorted PDQ, or their honeymoon will be over before it’s over.

Baffled by the tactics tonight, Griff wide right WTF, No Roberts ? Worried already, he might be a decent coach and might get 10% extra out the players, but the problem being is that many of them are at least 20% below what is needed to progress into the the Champions League group stage.

I’ve said many times now I gave up my ST after the Murrayfield embarrassment (twice) I see we still haven’t learned to prepare properly for the Champions League Qualifiers, it’s absolutely disgraceful and a lack of Leadership from the top to the bottom.

Efe as a Centre Back in a potential £30m windfall says it all, when will they take these qualifiers seriously ? Disgraceful (Again)

  14. Just read Brendan Rogers comments. Oh dear. Oh dearie dearie me.

Straight out if law wells and deer lets playbook.

    Gives your money ya Fannie’s.

Fools r us. It’s all too late. They have our cash and they are humiliating us again.

I blame all of you guys who bought season books. You bought into defeat, humiliation and a place at the back of the bus.

    Happy?

  15. themaestro72 on

That was a bit of reality check. I think we all thought everything would be brilliant with Brendan.

I don’t have a problem with his after match comments because he has to motivate and encourage everyone.

But Ambrose, c’mon, I’m sure it would “be for the good of the team” if he was dropped.

  16. Big Peat, What exactly did you expect him to say. ” I’ve inherited a load of w*nkers and I’m going to get rid of the lot of them”.

It’s not what he says to the hacks that counts, it’s what he says behind closed doors and more importantly what he does.

If he acted like the clowns on here, wouldn’t the Huns just lap it up.

  17. Big Peat of Islay on

I don’t know what my father would have said about the result tonight, God rest him.

  20. Well what can we say about that . Loads of bhoys on here have advocated that we need a clear out , and tonight proved it . IMHO . If we want fast attacking football , we won’t get it with biton and brown . Slow the play down all the time . A few others didn,t cut the mustard either . The celts will win , and win easily . But tonight we wanted a sign but not to be . We had nearly all of ronnies team out there tonight . It wasn’t good enough then, not good enough tonight .

  21. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

It’s weird reading pish from our supporters tonight.

Here’s a reality check. This is were we are, getting gubbed by a team from Gibraltar.

The result was a shock, but only in as much that we, expected to win based on the size and spend of our club.

When you examine the (lack of) ability in our squad well it ain’t a shock, we are that bad.

Just listened to their scorer. He, they know what we are and he knew he could score if he used his pace.

Ne delusions, no illusions just the fact that he’s a footballer and could out pace our’s.

Next week will be a trial against a poor team, but then Lincoln Red Imps will be playing a poor team.

    We have fallen so low.

  22. Go tell the Spartim on

The only shining light tonight was Catman posting, anything to quell the despair

  23. Hail Hail CQNers

Calm down. It’s half time. I can’t deny it was brutal to watch but I put that down to Brendan’s demand for his team to play the ball from the back through midfield.

Whatever happened to teams adapting to conditions?

In days gone by when teams were faced with quagmires it was obvious to miss out the midfield. Players get no time on the ball. That pitch tonight was so unpredictable and demanded ball to go from back to front early. The pitch would ensure mistakes all over the place. Their goal I believe was a good example. early ball forward , defender wrong side and misjudged bounce of the ball. Goal.

Do not fear boys . I have already said it was a brutal watch on a very difficult surface where the home team were happy to sit in and wait for a mistake. Well done Lincoln. You can have your 5 minutes of fame but Celtic will thump you on an even surface with wide open spaces.

    Keep the Faith boys.

    Hail Hail

Well, not exactly in those words, but with that intent and tone. The time has gone for messing about. We are a (literal) NATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT.

  25. Muscat_Bhoy1264 on

Is it just me, or does anyone think the real problem is a lack of heart in this team? No leaders on the park. Brown has failed to lead on numerous occasions. He’s like a lion with no teeth.

  26. Why is Broonie getting it tight on here, watched the game, truly awful result, don’t make any excuses, especially, about the pitch,11 opposition players played on the same pitch,so congratulations Lincoln, now the players for me ,that need to move on,Ambrose,Janko,Forrest,Bitton,Rogic, need to recall players like Lustig,Henderson,Allan, Izzy,to the squad,

  27. Can’t believe some people are playing down this result.

It’s the absolute worst in our history.

A colossal failure and a complete humiliation.

Now we will find out what kind of manager Brendan is. Honeymoon over. Reality bites.

  28. No excuses but some perspective.

This is not the most embarrassing defeat, for me that was going out of the Scottish Cup to a team only four years old. Lincoln Imps are 40 years old. If we lose the tie then that is a different matter.

Lincoln Imps know every feckin rubber pellet on that park, there is only one stadium in Gib and all the teams play at Victoria Stadium – home and away. We struggled badly on that pitch, the Imps play every game there so looked more comfortable on the ball – not surprisingly.

For all the Broonie haters, and the Brit trolls who booed him – I saw a player making himself available for the ball then making a pass only for it to be passed back to him. Yes he’s not creative but you put a playmaker next to him and midfield will function. Not that waste of a jersey Bitton. 2 seasons ago I was one of Bitton fans but he is in regression. I went right off the Brian (Cant) when he feigned injury in said game against the zombies.

Efe struggles at every level and for everybody’s sake, including his, needs to move on.

If we don’t put 7 past them at Paradise then that will be the most embarrassing result.

I will leave you to the trolls and zombie posters who only come on here after a Celtic reversal.

    Hail! Hail! PMTYH

    Since Sammy left? Jesus wept.

    ——-

Couldn’t agree more. Coping with tonight is bad enough without anybody mentioning Samaras. A lovely guy who got rich on us. With very little payback. Disappeared totally after leaving us. Because he was never a real pro.

Re tonight: Brendan now sees what he has to do. 75% possession but totally ineffective. No spirit under pressure. An ineffective captain. No leaders anywhere on the pitch. The default attitude is “safe” when it needs to be “attack” – and we don’t do safe. Efe’s faults are well documented (he needs to go) but others are as bad under pressure. Attitude lacking too often from Bitton, Forrest, Brown and others. The lack of belief and adventure affects everyone – even Tierney looked rattled tonight.

So, tonight was as low as it gets but at least it means no illusions. Brendan saw tonight flaws which we have struggled with for ages. He has seen the collective lack of bottle and positive creativity. The earlier the better. I watch the U20s more than the 1st team and we have talent there. Time to introduce a few while buying a couple of experienced winners.

  30. Scale of Lawwell’s destruction laid bare tonight—-pub team.

Only a project brought in so far. Nickel and dime approach to fees and wages by the Bonus Thief does not bode well.

The dross we have was weakened further by playing players out of position and leaving the biggest threat Roberts out. Rodgers better wise up quickly as the honeymoon is over.

Will go through this round. If we meet anybody half decent we are out with that bunch of spineless wonders. Clear out necessary starting with Scott Brown and Efe Ambrose.
