Living within your means still resisted

Michel Platini’s Financial Fair Play initiative at Uefa has been one of the more inspiring developments at the top of our game for decades.  It brought spending into line with income throughout the English game and punished what Platini called financial doping.

It has been so effective, Platini now promises to relax the rules.  The blame does not all sit with Platini.  Uefa are dealing with 10 legal challenges to the rules, with complainant clubs citing European Law in their defence.  The big football powers are split.  The English appear in favour of FPP (Manchester City aside), while many stressed clubs across Europe are in opposition.

The concept of living within your means is still resisted in our game, not just in barred hold-outs in Scotland.

  1. When will people get it through their nuts it is not about them, The Rangers, it is about the cheating, the practiced and blatantly overt institutional cheating. I don’t know why so many try to make into a Celtic/Rangers issue; it has nothing to do with the club that plays out of Ibrox.

Some say forget about it and get on with life, I’m glad Pierce and Connolly and Plunkett didn’t share a similar philosophy. If you meekly accept the continuing cheating then you are part of the cheating, the SFA will hug and embrace you as one of their own.

The SFA is a proven cheating farce. It is your decision what you want to do about that; your decision alone. If you chose to prop them up… then they own your arse and your morals have without doubt been compromised. Only you and you alone dance with your conscience, leave others to theirs.

  2. is gerry adams now fit and proper to be a director of rangers now he has got the blessing of the original charles green fingers duke of corwall ?

Well said. All about institutionalised cheating, like the recent General Erection.

Loada bollocks. No such thing as democracy.

    Kitalba,

The cheating has got so bad it is a shambles.

When I think of my late dad saving up for his SB, and then being cheated by Dallas etc it really annoys me.

The young lads don’t see it though. My son want’s to get a SB from his summer job.

Maybe they are right. Something tells me they will have similar feelings in few years though.

  5. Me thinks some people are getting a bit riled about the man who would be King (we all know how that ended up)Personally I think its great, more pain for the undead and a good couple of years more danger to my ribs.

  6. Seldom post but frequent reader of the blog. Anytime I have posted previously on here looking for comment got no reply, seems to be a closed shop on here recently for a select few which should not be the purpose of the site. Anyway, can someone answer this, who was on the SFA panel that deemed that King was fit and proper, had Celtic got a representative on the panel? I asked on here before was PL planning any fans road shows/forums like he did a few years back around season ticket renewal time? If so I would have some pertenent questions that I and no doubt others would like to ask. I have two season book renewals to complete which no doubt I will, as TMcL said earlier we support Celtic and should not give a toss about that other mob

Not only who decided in the SFA but what ‘specialist legal advice’ did they take and from whom

And has keech Jackson stopped hyperventilating yet!

    Possible others are

    Professional Game Board:

    Chairman: Rod Petrie (Scottish FA)

Members: Jim Ballantyne (SFL), Neil Doncaster (SPL), Peter Lawwell (SPL), David Longmuir (SFL), Alan McRae (Scottish FA), Campbell Ogilvie (Scottish FA), Stewart Regan (Scottish FA), Sandy Stables (SHFL) and Ralph Topping (SPL).

    Non-Professional Game Board:

    Chairman: Alan McRae (Scottish FA)

Members: Donald Beaton (Welfare FA), John Gold (Schools FA), Colin Holden (South of Scotland), Tom Johnston (Junior FA), David Little (Youth FA), Maureen McGonigle (Scottish Women’s Football), Campbell Ogilvie (Scottish FA), Rod Petrie (Scottish FA), Stewart Regan (Scottish FA), Andrew Renwick (East of Scotland), Graham Harkness (Scottish Amateur FA).

  10. I know for a fact that if the tables were turned, thems would want to see us dead and buried forever. Club still have not confirmed to the fans if they have had a response to their letter to the SFA regarding clarification on ghe semi final penalty issue, the same letter that was prompted by the fans, not the club

  11. cambhoy….

Don’t get disheartened not getting a response as it happens all the time to me. as you queried, I would like to know who decided kong was voted as fit and proper and if we were complicit.

    Kong was intentional:)))

At the height of a political corruption trial, the prosecuting attorney attacked a witness. “Isn`t it true,” he bellowed, “that you accepted five thousand dollars to compromise this case?” The witness stared out the window as though he hadn`t heard the question. “Isn`t it true that you accepted five thousand dollars to compromise this case?” the lawyer repeated. The witness still did not respond. Finally, the judge leaned over and said, “Sir, please answer the question.” “Oh,” the startled witness said, “I thought he was talking to you

You’ve got to ask not only who is doing the cheating, but why, and who is buying into it.

Is it really all about sharing the bigot pound?

If so, how sick, how inborn, how deprived is that?

    Hates’ pennies indeed.

Got to go mate, got an ironing to do and bags to pack.

I see the U.S. will provide financial aid to Ukraine if the leaders confront corruption.

Because if anything stops corruption, it’s bribing someone to stop corruption.

Kitalba – If you are about. This may be of interest to you. I read about the railroad incident in today’s Irish News. The victims perished in 1832.They were from Donegal, Derry and Tyrone.15 years previous to the Great Hunger, I wasn’t really aware of any immigration to America prior to 1847. Obviously I has some knowledge of the Irish slaves that were banished to the West Indies during Cromwellian times, not North America though.

not sure if the panel was simply made up of the sfa board members or if it was a mixture including legal advisors (or if that is even possible)

but I would like to see the minutes of the meeting (wouldnt we all)

was the decision unanimous or a majority ?

many questions that will no doubt go unanswered
