I don’t get the flares thing. It’s not a part of my going-to-see-Celtic tradition. But if it was my thing, I’d have the courage of my convictions, I wouldn’t hide the fact.
There are consequences of bringing flares to football games, always has been. By not having the courage to openly ignite them, those consequences are not personalised to the individuals who regard this as an integral part of what they do at a football game, they are visited upon everyone in the vicinity, as well as the club.
The problem with flares at Celtic games is those who bring them hide the fact – as they clearly know there are consequences, and presumably aren’t too interested in taking responsibility for them. ‘Keen on flares, not keen enough to stand up for them’, is why the issue persists.
I get the attraction to bright, shiny, things, but this isn’t a campaign to bring the vote to disenfranchised people against a force who will execute the offender on sight. It’s about bringing a flare to a football game. If it’s so important, do it openly. If you think Health and Safety are simply wrong, find the evidence and use it in court. Have the courage to change something. I know lots of Celtic fans who have had the courage to put their name to something they believed in, in recent years. It’s seldom easy, but it has been done.
But in the years of this debate no one has ever pointed to evidence that igniting flares in a football ground is a clever thing to do. It’s just a ‘look at me’ exercise, ‘But don’t look at my face’, of course.

Its not difficult.
You would think that the so-called custodians of Celtic, or millionaires as i call them, would be irate with the LEVEL of institutionalised cheating by the SFA/HUNS.
You would think they would be irate about the racism, violence, and media attacks on Celtic players and supporters.
You would think they would stand up for Celtic supporters.
But do we hear any condemnation from the PLC, no, not a bit of it.
Until the PLC challenge the cheating, they will have questions to answer, questions from Celtic supporters, whether you like it, or not.
We are not sheep, we are Celtic supporters, and we stand against corruption, racism, and bigotry.

The self styled green brigade think they can behave like the continental Ultras. The green brigade need to be reigned in, by Celtic, because they are damaging Celtic.
The Green Brigade seem to be very keen on being an exclusive club, which will always make them much less powerful than, for example the ultras at the 2 Rome clubs. Roma and lazio’s ultras wield so much power that their boycotts of home games mean the entire home of ends of the olimpico are empty for months at a time. I went to a derby season before last where there were so many riot police and vans there it really did look like a war zone all because the ultras were threatening to turn up and fight the police. I’ve been to another one where they were fighting the police on the concourses at half time
You can’t question the effort the green brigade put in and their passion for celtic but when it comes to militancy they will never match some of the ultras in the continent. And thank god for that

I posted similar yesterday.It seems that Paedo Banners and such,Paedo chants and songs,sectarian bile,racist abuse coming from Huns,and to a lesser degree Aberdeen ,Hearts fans are perfectly acceptable to our Board.
this is what gets me F________ raging at them.We all know the GB can be a bit unruly,but they are Ultras,for Gods sake,and compared to Ultras around Europe,Choirboys.
If the Board want to take a stand,fair enough.We have been asking them to do it since 2012.We will be right behind them.Players attacked ,racially abused,objects thrown at our players,the last game at Ibrox.The Board response.Nothing.To match the SPFL.A couple of statements about being cheated for over 10 years.

In my opinion you You could argue that both the GB and the PLC are hurting us all.
If you look at the bigger picture you could put a case that the PLC are not doing enough to stand up for the Supporters by not standing up to the establishments.
On the current issue in my opinion the GB have scored an own goal for what they did on Wednesday.
Yes, UEFA are inconsistent and need to join the 21st Century. However, until they do or they can be persuaded to change by the member Clubs and by that I just don’t mean Celtic, we have to abide by their rules, whether we like it or not. By defying their rules publicly and not entering meaningful debate Celtic and by that I don’t mean the PLC, I mean the Manager and us the Supporters will be the ones that will lose. There will come a time that UEFA will say enough is enough, what that will mean I do not know; games played behind closed doors, Stands closed or kicked, as I say I don’t know.
On the Green Brigade, I absolutely love what they bring to the table generally, their originality, their inventism (spl) and especially how they generate the atmosphere at Celtic Park. However, whilst I know they were just trying to stick it to Linfield (who are in my opinion the weans of the deidco), they knew what they were doing and in my opinion knew that Celtic would get action taken against them, in my opinion. My all time favourite contribution from the GB was the four horses of the apocalypse, original, funny and said to deidco subtly GIFUY, your about to die and they did.
I want the GB to continue, more power to their elbow but publicly they have to be cute in getting their point across, they have shown in the past that they can.
Both the PLC and the GB need to swallow some pride and get round the table, they both need each other in order to fight against the domestic establishments and the European ones. If they don’t it will be the Manager, Players and the Supporters like you and me that will suffer. We want to see our Club to continue to grow both domestically and in Europe.
Just so you don’t think I am having a pop you, I’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to put my tuppence worth in, your post was my in.

Everyone is frustrated with the situation but no one seems to have an answer which can solve anything. Loads on here suggesting the board can take action but to what end ?

I agree to a point, where I disagree is that the GB are harming the club, in scotland the media hate us with or without the GB, outwith scotland nobody gives a flying duck, scottish football doesn’t enter anyones head, to think otherwise is seriously deluding yourself.
The smsm were creaming themselfs with the banners, it gave them an excuse to ignore the real problems with the game, they are building it up and the right wing of the support are lapping it up, stupid doesn’t cover it, .
I will talk with my crazy Real supporting postie in the morning like I do every day of the week, I will ask him what he thinks about the shitstorm that we are enduring and he will look at me like |I should be locked up and ask me wtf I am talking about, nobody cares, the huns care, they care big time, the smsm care, they care bigger time.
At the end of the day it will blow over and we hopefully can get back to the football, but the right wing will keep it going I fear, they just can’t help it.

Breaking News. The deck is stacked in football globally as it is in life.
Celtic has always strived to overcome this. Hibs were also unhappy with celtics illegal approaches to most of their players back in the early days. It nearly drove them out of business.
I would never try to persuade you to support Celtic if you don’t feel you want to. That is entirely your perrogative. It’s your cash and if you feel you are being cheated fair thrn play to you not engaging.
My sense is different and along with the 53000 others I will still support the team confident that we have never enjoyed such supremacy on and off the park and that there are some fights which can be won with a sprint and others might be won over a longer distance.
I guess you have no workable plan to suggest our board adopt other than shouting ‘it’s an injustice’. Right now that is all they can do.
