Look at me, but not at my face

2751

I don’t get the flares thing. It’s not a part of my going-to-see-Celtic tradition. But if it was my thing, I’d have the courage of my convictions, I wouldn’t hide the fact.

There are consequences of bringing flares to football games, always has been. By not having the courage to openly ignite them, those consequences are not personalised to the individuals who regard this as an integral part of what they do at a football game, they are visited upon everyone in the vicinity, as well as the club.

The problem with flares at Celtic games is those who bring them hide the fact – as they clearly know there are consequences, and presumably aren’t too interested in taking responsibility for them. ‘Keen on flares, not keen enough to stand up for them’, is why the issue persists.

I get the attraction to bright, shiny, things, but this isn’t a campaign to bring the vote to disenfranchised people against a force who will execute the offender on sight. It’s about bringing a flare to a football game. If it’s so important, do it openly. If you think Health and Safety are simply wrong, find the evidence and use it in court. Have the courage to change something.  I know lots of Celtic fans who have had the courage to put their name to something they believed in, in recent years.  It’s seldom easy, but it has been done.

But in the years of this debate no one has ever pointed to evidence that igniting flares in a football ground is a clever thing to do. It’s just a ‘look at me’ exercise, ‘But don’t look at my face’, of course.

All other ground issues are fixable.

    Basic logistics.

The G.B. is the persistent , ongoing problem with no indication from the GB statement that they intend to cooperate with Celtic F.C. in observing Uefa`s rules in the future.

What is the only action available to Celtic in attempting to prevent future transgressions by the G.B. against UEFA`S rules ?

My father in law took his wee terrier Sean Francis Patrick up Victoria Park every day. Trained SFP to leap and fetch a baton sized stick. After the dugs education all winter, came Sean Francis Patrick’s moment of glory in July. The orange walk was going through Scotstoun, the auld yin commanded SFP, “Fetch stick!” He fetched it right out the hand of the main stick twirler. Legend dug was Sean Francis Patrick.

  14. MAcJay1, I disagree, there is plenty of room for negotiation and compromise in the GB statement.

Read it again, its in there, if there is a will from the PLC they can too.

Careful……huns will try and exploit any opportunity. Arguably the GB made a mistake, we should not let the sleekits in to divide and conquer any further.

*I’ve been on here around 10 years or so. There are other Celtic lhists out there but I prefer this one, why? well the average contributor has at least half a brain and debates on here can be articulate but fair, but somehow the recent decision by the CFC Board tae ban the Green Brigade as well as refuse tickets for a game played in the loyalists’ cauldron of Belfast has raised a lot of hackles and caused some unpleasant accusations among our members.

Why, well advice on here at times seems tae be taken as criticism, it’s not. There are definitely hunfiltrators planting a seed of discord that some pick up on, why, obviously jealousy, but not just that, plain hatred is very evident.

In the mid 19th century when the first wave of Irish arrived in the country they landed in the most protestant and anti- Catholic country in Europe, for around 300 years the Scots had been led tae believe that Roman Catholicism was equated tae an ancient religion that was against all that their biblical beliefs, it was akin tae devil worshipping and the Catholics were analogous with cannibals in believing they could eat and drink Christ’s body and blood.

And if you think we have all moved on then stick yer heid oot the widnae on a summer’s morn, in this the 21st century, and listen tae the bile that violates yer ears.

Not only that these poor bedraggled new arrivals had also brought with them their language, food, the evil drink and culture, the only aspect of their previous life they left behind was their sport and that may have been as a result of not having the energy or the funds tae partake in it in their native land. So the quickly adopted ours, no not golf or cricket but the fledgling sport of fitba, and by God they did.

The annals of Scottish fitba indicate the game was awash with teams with the names like Hibernian, Harp, Columba and Emmett and I believe an early incarnation of the leather belts.

The greatest feat of the Catholic Irish in Scotland is not climbing the corporate ladder or accessing the higher echelons of the justice system, its Celtic Football Club.

National games are played under FIFA rules while European ones UEFA. That’s the way it is whether your Germany, Spain, Italy or England in the former or Real, Barca, Juve or lowly clubs like Progres, hunfield or sevco in the latter, it’s their game and we have tae abide by their rules, if not, then don’t play in them, it’s as simple as that. They determine the officials, seating arrangements, advertisers and ticket allocation, also nae and I mean nae political banners or songs/chants.

If they say an away team has tae have 1500 tickets, well that’s the way it is. We take their millions which betters our club so like it or lump it.

As we all know the current Champions League structure was the brainchild of raymond burr through his director/secretary (notice how he never gets his own hands durty) in an effort to increase the huns revenue stream, it would eventually turn around and bite him in the Irish language as we have majorly benefitted from the revenue handed out while his club, as a result of his voracity, mendacity and downright cheating, went breest up, not only that but as a result of this fraudulence perpetrated by the huns ogilvie lost out on the coveted position of british FIFA VP. OK he has a job right now and a good one at that but it’s just as a delegate, like lucifer his pride has well and truly been dented.

I don’t believe we have a rep right now with UEFA, the last one was probably the late David Taylor who was the joint General Secretary of UEFA and a qualified SFA coach as well, most of us on here hated him as he was seen as steptoe jr’s trooser leg in Europe, as it was later revealed not so, he later stated that the one aspect of his job was as the former CEO of the SFA he was urged by that body many times tae be an apologist for the deid teams indiscretions in Europe and as a fair and educated man he hated that.

As for Scottish football, we have always had an uphill fight but at least we had representation on the boards like Bob Kelly and the current Hibbee midfielder’s grampa, passed his hoose on the Cardross Road BTW 2 weeks ago.

Once kenneth more stacked the boards and committees with his fallen angels we have had a mountainous battle, but he is not alone in the disaster that has been perpetuated on the Scottish game, the SMSM must shoulder at least a huge percentage of the blame, I don’t for a minute believe either that it’s just succulent lamb or the finest claret, somehow the phrase “he must have pictures” comes tae mind. Quite ironic that the pastors’ son and the Parkhall provo seem tae be exempt fae that crowd, as Robert Plant was wont tae say “Ooh, it makes me wonder, it really makes me wonder”.

It looks like we are now winning with St Peter of the Heated Driveways forging his way upward and once again we will run the Scottish game, next stop Europe where we can hopefully ensure that parasites like the failed double glazing salesman’s influence is dissipated both there and at home.

We are on the one road onward and upward so let’s stick together now like auld lang syne.

    Genuine post.

We are pretty unanimous that the banners were not a wise move. Now, we have established that.

And i do understand some of the points you are making in relation to safety, flares are a no-no, that is also established.

My question is this: Why are you so determined to punish the many, rather than the few responsible?

I would also ask what is more serious: Racist and violent abuse of Celtic players, or a few banners?
