  1. Lennon n Mc....Mjallby on

Carelessness in the first leg cost us,I’m sure plenty others will dissect the problems, still champions!

  2. the glorious balance sheet – the whole landscape of European football has changed to be honest. That we got a round further than Ajax tells a story in itself. Essentially everybody outside the ‘big leagues’ is Europa League level and access to the CL is a bit of a lottery.

Had we been as far into our season as Malmo I think it would have been a different game and frankly it’s one of the reasons we should be looking at summer football. Scottish teams are consistently being knocked out or given a hard time by lesser teams purely by virtue of the fact that they’re match sharper.

Off for some Xbox to take my mind off it.

  3. I so wish Ronny to succeed as he seems to be a genuine guy

who believes in his ideas and sticks to them.

Therein lies his problem , you have to be open to change in

any walk of life and admit to yourself adapt on the day.

Tactics have to be flexible , his are not, plays the same way

regardless, hope he admits that to himself soon.

Me i just wan’t us to win and dominate with attacking fitba.

Jock was King ,then , now and forever The Master , AMEN

  4. Can’t understand the Ronny out stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the frustration, but does that team really look like his? Our team looks like a house renovation gone wrong due to a lack of running out of materials/funding.

Playing CM, instead of Izzy tells me he thinks we need a new left back, so why don’t we have one? Cifti, I believe was bought because he only had about 1M or so to spend, so he spent it on someone who was already living here, and scoring goals. Not a bad plan, considering all the money wasted on players who were playing in other leagues.

Sell VVD, and anyone else who doesn’t want to play, and get in more players who want to play, and give 100%. JF was good attacking, but again, didn’t track back enough. GMS did that much more when he came on. I also didn’t think enough of our players wanted the ball. Too happy to make a pass and watch to see what happens, rather than run to space and ask for a return pass.

We are badly missing a playmaker. I think we need that even before fixing the problems in defence and attack, which also need urgent attention.

And lastly, who would you get in as manager, and what would they do anyway. Without money to spend, I can’t see how to make a big improvement. I didn’t like the starting 11, but I don’t think Izzy at lb, or any other things would have made a huge change.

None of the players were good enough. Nobody stood out, and looked like a leader, or a match winner. We need someone like that, or we won’t even get through the europa league stage…….

  5. JimmyQuinnsBits on

Ronnie called it right tonight… The players looked stressed, nervous

The mentality required to win this wasnt there. I dunno how you fix that but its been a common theme over recent years

  6. Lost the tie when they got their first at CP.

How can we ask the team to fight if the “support” shuts up after a setback.

Too many only interested in 10 in stow.

Too many mouthing PL inspired platitudes about “living within our means”.

Selling club is what we are.

PL and the Irish Raj are selling the support down the river as well as our best players.

Interested to hear from the board.

Will they recycle their usual nonsense or will they try something different?

  7. Not normally the type of saddo who logs into football blogs while on holiday just because I canny find any friends to talke too

However thought I would come on and offer my congratulations to Ronny for convincing the gutless and spineless on here, the type that won’t post their true feelings because they might lose a few cyber pals, that his gutless spineless team were capable of competing in the big cups. Sorry but I would rather have 1 or 2 in a row of qualifying for the group stages instead of ten in a row in some mickey moose league that nobody ootside Scotland is the slightest bit interested in anymore. I would love to regale you with imaginary stories of how hundreds of Mexicans were packed into bars to watch this afternoons game but it didn’t happen. Well I am off to console myself with tequila and señoritas but ooh how I miss being a wee plastic rebel and getting oot the war tunes and cheap booze to make me believe we are the biggest club in the world

Fajitas anyone it’s nearly tea time ?????

Ps best wishes to big Van Dick on his forthcoming transfer shortly

  8. CRC – agreed chum, I just think in cup games like this THAT goal was much, much more important. Goals count, Leighs boot-in-the-baws and possible red may have galvanised a lethargic Celtic…….and we are better at haudin’ oan than streaking ahead, currently.

Shakey Bhoy – impossible. I was born and will die a supporter of the Celtic, and while I think I can see the point you were making I will stay one of the Bhoys, thanks.

    HH

  9. Going back to scouting would the signing of 3 players from Dundee utd have anything to do with Peter Houston being at the club around then.

I listened to Ronnie there I can’t agree we are better than a year ago we got out fought tonight by an average outfit in a wee tight ground we looked like a school team who cannot go away from home and stand up for themselves problem is how does he fix it with the lack of help for Griffiths to score and a stroller at centre half who looks like he doesn’t want to defend

  10. spiritof67

I think you are deeply mistaken mate. The players on that pitch should have won that match and it is there mental state that should be questioned.

It’s all about opinions tho, and I respect yours

  11. I said after the last game that the tactics were criminal and I stand by that comment. The tie was lost in Glasgow. our management team aren’t up to it. Allowing 8 players to go up for a corner when 2-0 ahead ?

Luckiest people to be in a job.

  12. 3years ago izzy player of the year 2years ago Charlie last year Joehansen now all scapegoats , have to agree the better team won and agree with DD if we can’t beat Malmö we would be really embarrassed by Munich Madrid etc. but tommorrow I will wake optimistic still supporting my beloved Celtic HH

  13. Euro TEAMS have celtic all sussed out…..slow . half dozen side passes. cant hit on the break. frightened to shoot……wheres all the this fast attacking football we were promised. when there was a chance of a break on tonite everthing comes to a halt with pass back crap we still have to endure from the previous managers…..still no improvement.

  14. JimmyQuinnsBits on

That Malmo team will be lucky to get a point in the group stages…. As would we to be honest

Disappointed in big VVD tonight, didnt take responsibility on too many occasions… Pass backs to CG, and at fault for the second goal imo

    Offski, night

  15. Go tell the Spartim on

EL not for me, it’s not the actual tournament or teams that participate that discourages me, it’s the fact that I’ll be lining the pockets of very wealthy men whose only interests are in a set of accounts.

We’ve already had a few accountants on already

    Football team first csc

  16. glendalystonsils on

Do Swedish teams get millions more from Sky tv than we get? Malmo have reached the CL group stage for the last 2 seasons.

Punching below our weight in Europe, given the difference in resources ,we are doing no more for the coefficient thasn St. Johnstone, Aberdeen, Motherwell et al.

  17. I think it was obvious tonight….that our team do not have the quality.

Scott Brown cant do it at this level…..Johansen, Boyata, Mulgrew, VVD, all very poor.

We need to stop pretending, enough of the bs.

I don’t care if they sell VVD….he is a legend in his own mind.

Pitiful performance, and should be the one that changes things….we cannot go on like this, it is a disgrace for a Celtic team to chuck it like that…..Scott Brown knows it was shameful, and its not acceptable.

    No more bs…enough is enough.

Stop rewarding PL for failure….right now.

    No more bonuses.

No fecking more, he has had enough.

    HH

  18. Their first goal was armed in by Rosenberg who fouled all night with impunity. Should have buried that lot. Gutted, and agree with most posts tonight.

  19. Delaneys Dunky on

    Sneddoni

Hi pal from Ryan and I, your two new friends. For me, tonight is a watershed low. Celtic embarrassed themselves tonight. Craig Gordon excepted. We are as poor in Europe as I can remember. Malmo??? Terrible fitba team that beat us 4-3. Scunnered.

  20. What a spineless, pitiful performance. Not one player stepped up to the plate.

Utterly galling to see ex-celts of the calibre of like Sutton & Hartson have to pick the bones out of such a cringeworthy performance.

That’s a £30-40m “warchest” that PL has pissed away in 12 months. He’ll surely not be collecting his bonus now ?

    No!

    Really?

And that’s bound to hurt when Dave King’s weans tell him where they’ve hid the treasure chest containing their inheritance. What! There isn’t one?

    Really?

  21. The Ghood will prevail on

honestly don’t understand where the sack the board comments come from. How is tonight PL’s fault? How do we buy better players – the magic money pot? Like the old rangers did? Look what happened to them. Could just one poster tell us where this money will come from?

Celtic were two goals up and cruising last Wednesday, should have been three had Johansen not fluffed his lines. We were dominant and just better than Malmo. And from then until full time tonight something went badly wrong – lots of things, actually, and too much to process tonight. We have a bigger budget than Malmo, yet last week we managed to snatch a narrow win from the jaws of a decisive victory. And tonight we were eased off the ball in that second half, offensively we barely landed a glove on Malmo, who I still think are an inferior side to us player for player. 2-0 down in the second half but not out, and we didn’t have another shot at goal. Where was the fight? What did Ronny say to them at half time that made them come out and play worse – again?

I don’t know what the answer is because I’m not entirely sure what the problem is, but even after reflection I won’t be calling for Ronny’s head. But he can’t have another single night like this in Europe again. Also, when did we suddenly become unable to defend corner kicks? they won the tie with three easy goals. No one of any stature has ever given Celtic such a head start, why did we insist on doing it?

  22. Our biggest problem is we don’t make enough chances to bother any half competent team. We are easy to play against.

Then, when we can’t defend, the game’s up.

An average malmo team proved that. Their defence will get hammered in the CL. You only need to look at the disallowed goal to see how poor they are but we never put them under pressure.

All down to tactics and rony’s are pish!

  23. Look , we just need to win Europa League and gain auto entry into next years Champions League proper – Simples !!

    Goodnight Timland.

Try and keep your heads up,we’ve been through worse,if

you can get yourselves up to CP on Saturday.

Kevj and TCR, you have my best wishes along with every other

Tim who’s going through REAL hard times.

  25. MadMitch

I was going to wait for yours, but I posted not long after the final whistle, just like I did when I

got home from when we won the first leg at CP.

Thoughts didn’t alter much in six days, other than hope springing eternal.

    Hail Hail

p.s. still short of the full house.

  26. Some posters on here saying that Celtic are a better side than Malmo…

    Oh deary deary me………

What the feck were they drinking tonight?

It’s as delusional as the Huns saying they’re still the same club.

There is no evidence for any of these delusions……

Maybe Crystal Meth sales have gone up in Scotland recently?

  27. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Few posters stating Ronny has improved us? Presumably, since NFL’s tenure…

What am I not seeing guys?

  28. Virgil will be sold and maybe a few more, pennies will be spent in replacements just in time for the Rangers arrival just to make sure it’s a fair fight, I genuinely wonder or rather I’m suspicious about the people who run our club.

  29. I wasn’t surprised with Ronny starting with Janko & Mulgrew but neither should have started at full back tonight. 20 minutes into the first leg they tightened the game up by adding an extra body in midfield, I would have preferred to see us do that tonight with Charlie sweeping in front of our back four. Playing Mulgrew at LB instead of Izzy cost us badly in both attack & defence. The first leg Izzy was up in support of Armstrong, making overlapping runs & creating space for Stuart to rip their right back a new one. Tonight we let their right back off the hook, left SA isolated & inturn CM was far to exposed defensively. Our whole left side was a weakness, which is probably why Forrest was asked to play there for the second half. Was hoping izzy would come on at some stage, as he’s always an attacking threat for us & their Right Back is a massive weak link.

Brown & Nir were disappointing but they too were given little option, as Johanesn the link between Midfied and attack was not effective at all. I understand why he’s the managers darling as he’ll run all day & is capable of very decent moments but the words headless and chicken springs to mind.

Janko started the game well but he was exposed defensively as was pretty obvious he would be before the game. Not playing Efe at RB meant we had to play Mulgrew at LB for his height I get that but you have to ask questions of the manager about playing an untried and untested back four in such an important game. Play Janko if you must but have him on the wing in front of Efe for extra protection, this could have been mirrored on the other wing too by playing Izzy at LB with Mulgrew in front. We had the tie won before a ball was kicked tonight, there was no need to set up a similar way as we did at home. We should have been far more compact and a tighter unit all over the pitch.

Just some thoughts sorry for the ramble.

Hugely disappointed in many aspects & what is a clear failure on many levels. Be it tonight and Ronny being out managed, players not performing or the club itself not showing similar ambition to the fans.

    Gutted tonight. HH!

  30. ARE Didier Agathe and Craig Bellamy still playing football……maybe these guys could still do us a turn…..

  31. blantyretim is praying for the Knox family on

We have been downsized for nearly 10 years now

We have been programmed via cqn etc to accept mediocrity

The old msm has been replaced by the cyber bullies like B78 who are corporate friends of pl and belittle the working class supporter for having the audacity to have an opinion

The British press have blamed the poor for the bankers greed

The corporate Celtic men are no different imho
