  1. I’ve backed RD from day 1.

    Tonight I’m doubting myself.

Chris Sutton says he needs help.

He’ll wait a long time if that help is to come from Lawwell/Desmond access.

Yet again we are pumped by a poorish side.

We have no full backs to rely on.

    1 decent striker.

A Centre back who is getting worse by the game.

To lose 2 goals from corners is a disgrace .

Against a team who barely had a 6 footer.

As for our player of the year , SJ, utter garbage.

  2. SUMMA OF SAMMI…. on 25TH AUGUST 2015 10:13 PM

To Play 3 Complete Strangers in Defense who have Played about 30 Games collectively in 2 Years with a Player who could be Sold Tomorrow was a Massive Blunder..

But to ask them to Zonally Mark at Corners was…….????

    I Don’t have Words..

    Summa

    —————-

Makes sense to me, very por decision making from ur manager today.

Not helped by the lack of effort from our key players.

    PISH just PYOOR PISH

We gave them the games, both of them.

    They never earned the win.

    thats what is dissapointing

  3. Chris Sutton has been spot on tonight, If Ciftci is the best we can come up with out of all the strikers in Europe then the scouting team should find other jobs, another massive failure to prepare properly, how long have we needed a decent left back? a decent striker ( not an average SPFL one? ) and we let Adam Matthews go when we have an injury prone right back ? We’ve spent pennies again this year, LAWWELL OUT !!!!

  4. 67Heaven .. CHALLENGING THE LIE ..I am wee Oscar...... Ipox belongs to the creditors on

Still great to be a Celtic Supporter….night all …. !!!!

  5. Well what 2 say? IMO biggest problem at Celtic is that (relatively) limited budget which one of the biggest in Europe bar ENG, some Spanish and German teams is spending for wrong players and /or managers. I dont think club like Celtic is right place for educating young and unexperienced managers. One example, if RD was not in position to motivate Berget who is his countryfellow and fmr player, it is very difficult to expect success with unknown players from other countries. There is no progress under him, we have been outplayed by Legia, Maribor (2nd leg) and partially Malmo now. In SPL we were not that dominant like under NFL. While i hate this clown from malmo bench i also think that we have probs with keeping legs for 90 mins. He got or had very tight budget and he bought Ceftci. Not fan of PL but celtic with their resources should play better in this phase of UCL.

  6. We are fucking rubbish! Mulgrew proved again he is a donkey. The Dundee Utd trio can GTF With Van Djik and Boyata and take Ronny Deila with them.

  7. One last thing before I hit the zzzzzs. No matter how bad Izzy is at left back, Charlie is not the answer.

  8. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

We need a couple of experienced European players around 29 or 30 years old who have Europa League and Champions League experience. Old heads in euro ties to help takethe sting out of the game when required.

I know it goes against the board’s policy, but we need european experience and technique to help us.

It would be great to get a player of Esteban Cambiasso’s experience but highly unlikely.

We have suffered the same defensieve frailties away in Europe for the past forty years and will continue until our leaders say, no more and get players in to solidify and toughen us up.

I’m going to check out the europa league fixture dates to see what home league games will be moved to a Sunday. My son’s team’s games kickoff at 2pm on a Sunday.

On a minute positive note, coefficient points can be a bit less difficult to gain in the Europa League.

  9. the glorious balance sheet on

    Summa 2213

You hit the nail on the head. I can’t fathom why we spent 1.5 million on signing boyata plus all the money on his wages when he has played such little football in the last few years. That money should have been spent on a rugged experienced defender who has been through these type of games before. Not on a long term project who may or may not come good 12 months from now but isn’t up to it right now.

  10. Nye Bevans' rebel soldier on

Round about last Christmas I posted on here that I

thought we were watching a mediocre Celtic side,we

improved in the second half of the season but the fact

remains we are ordinary at best.

There will be much navel gazing in the next few day’s,

I don’t have any answers but when I see us go out to

the like’s of Maribor and Malmo one thing is clear all

is not well,we should be getting a bigger bang for what

    buck we have.

  11. Margaret McGill on

    Remember

    The basic problem is not

    The squad

    Individuals

    The manager

    The staff

The basic problem is gravy train way deeper

  12. @Pastry… Quote…”I got it right cause I know football”

you should be a millionaire bro , hit the bookies.

    H.H.

  13. I need to vent, Celtic players have more talent, bigger bank balances, better technique and a far more attractive football style than Malmo. but Malmo have just smashed us out of the big cup. Lets talk Berget, Ronnie picked up this player last year and threw him in at the deep end, dropping a more established player as we tried to get into the CL, the reason Ronnie brought him to Celtic was apparent to me over both legs of this tie, he’s a fighter he will use everything he has to get victory by hook or by crook, and his determination to stick two fingers up at the clique who made life difficult for him at Celtic was admirable. Newtons third law states For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, therefore when you are dealing with a determined force you must match it equally in order to resist it. We lost this tie because we are mentally weak and physically not aggressive enough, we look like football dilettante’s, hobbyists pissing about complaining when you should be getting down and dirty. Berget was brought in to show this squad what it was lacking, guess what we still don’t have IT. now get to work ya shower of useless poncy millionaires I don’t want to see or hear a peep from any one of you embarrassments.

    Hail Hail.

  14. Maribor then Malmo finished the Huns in the space of a fortnight….they were the final nail in fat Ally’s and Craigy’s coffin

    Fast forward 4 years……Maribor then Malmo……spooky,ey?

I think you disagree with points 1 and 2 !!!

    Hey ho

Just thought of something else – We are meant to be a fit team – thought they were fitter

  16. jude2005 is Neil Lennon \o/ on

Our scouting system has cost us close on 10 mill. Why are they still at Celtic??

  17. I did not think Malmo were other than workmanlike yet we failed.

Irrespective of player contribution, bad decisions,or tactics, any deviation if your average causes exits, that is why we as a Club should be assessing the CL pot, target achieving 70% by spending on better quality, not gamble,on spending low to achieve 100% of the pot.

This is several times now we have squandered the opportunity to get to the group stages,I do not understand the Celtic economics.

    Really dis-appointed.

  18. Margaret McGill on

So have the SFA been pulled up on red 12 yet?

    Naw?

    Really?

    What about Celtic?

    Helping?

    Naw?

    Really?

    Howzit looking chumps? :)

  19. Zonal marking wasn’t at fault, per se. Janko and Boyata both had chance to tidy up the mistakes made defending the corner. So the system actually had a backup but that too failed. Was it nerves, was it the change in personnel? What made players do something different from all the other corners?

Should we credit Malmo with finding a flaw?

  20. Posted last week that we needed a commanding CH to

talk and boss the defence and build the team around.

It worked for Jock ,Shankley ,Clough and Fergusson,

the old days i know but it’s the winning way.

Two basic goals lost again tonight, 6 yard area, Gordon

and CH’s nowhere. Poor play indeed.

We are signing the wrong players, get a proper CH and CF,

the spine of any good team..

No faith in Ronny i’m afraid to say

Gutted as we all are but not good enough . Gordon great at

instinctive saves but crap in a crowded box at set pieces.

  21. prestonpans bhoys on

The bhoy that does the corner stats may prove me wrong but I think we have only lost three goals so far this season from a corner. Unfortunately to the same team :-0

  22. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

We are a poor outfit. Many on the blog have been spouting delusional rubbish s of progress under Ronny’s system………..

Truth is we have made no progress. We have signed players who just aren’t good enough to compete at this level. In this respect it’s not just our club who are spiralling downwards:

Many of the teams in our league now sign players from English non-league clubs……….and they shine.

The Huns have signed collection of reserves and bit-part-players like Tavernier and they look great in the Championship.

Then there’s our club, we have signed 3 players from a poor Dundee United side. Two of them have looked good, but when we face a real outfit we fail.

The team is littered with poor players. How may of our guys are one-sided ? Mulgrew, Izzy…….

I’m not singling the guys out, but we’ve known Emelio is poor defensively and despite his great build up play, frequently hits a poor delivery. These problems existed in Lenny’s time and are still prevalent. If the guy can’t be coached, then he should be off. Charlie is slow, it’s so apparent in Europe……he can’t change and surely as a manager, you’d realise this ? Apparently not though. A manager who can’t spot what needs changed is dicing with his own tenure.

Deila fails to spot his flaws. Anyone care to explain to me why we play 4 at the back in the SPL ?

  23. BOURNESOUPRECIPE on 25TH AUGUST 2015 10:19 PM

The only thing that was missing was the Celtic red card, which should probably have been for Leigh Griffiths and his ball sacker.

    ——————————

It was a thing of beauty.

Unfortunately shows our mental discipline in games like this is just….well….nuts.

Recent years in europe show mental deficiencies in all departments, We not sign a sports psychologist recently to put this right??

Or was he a promising kid we could sell on at a profit??

  24. Lawwell’s gambles sometimes come good but when they go wrong they knock us back to neutral at best.

I’m not Rangers obsessed but I do love the idea of puting oceans between us financially. I feel Lawwell consciously or inadvertently restricts the distance between us . Tonight was another opportunity to put another £20m between us.. Lost.

We are not a shambles and we will win SPFL.. Maybe a cup or two but when we get this close and don’t invest to push us over the finishing line ( again!!!!!!!!!!) it is depressing…

I’d love to actually hear from our Board how they see it…

    I tell you how I see it… 20,000 crowds moving towards 15,000

  25. I’m with Chris Sutton on RD having a hand tied behind his back, ffs back the bloke and give him a proper roll of the dice.

KEVJ/TCR…if your lurking all the best.

    Night from me. HH

  26. Hindsight is a wonderful thing….. For me though they got the VanDijk situation the wrong way round. Instead of trying to rely on a player who’s heart is not in it, they should have sold him early preseason, and bought a replacement in and given them preseason to bed in.

As VanDijk joins Southampton by Friday, it’s a concern we don’t have ONE single defender, that you could term reliable. Lustig falls into unreliable, purely through injuries. But aside from him, not one of them gives me any confidence.

And if Johansen continues to play ahead of Commons and/or GMS, then I believe both these guys have every right to crash Ronny’s door down, and demand an explanation.

  27. 13 years ago we entered the 2nd level European competition after identical home and away results to Basel. That worked out ok…

  28. Magnificentseven on

We were very poor tonight, and unfortunately it has given the new posters and the usual suspects free reign to spout, lots of bluster not many solutions

  29. Margaret McGill on

    Look my fallow Tims

The only reason I got on CQN at kick off today is I knew predicted and even betted on a 1-0 defeat

Ok so it ended up 2-0 who cares

    The point I was making

Have been making for 5 years

    And will continue to make

Despite the best efforts of All board lackeys hete including Paul67 is that because of celtics lack of vision and 4 point ambition plan that Celtic are now officially classified as pure shite
