Derek Adams propensity to waste time and then complain about time being added on should not obscure the fact that he is a remarkably productive football manager. Ross County, from Dingwall, population 5,000, are sitting fourth in the SPL and remain in touching distance of a place in Europe. No need to highlight their Scottish Cup campaign in 2010.
It is, therefore, no surprise that Aberdeen have asked Ross County for permission to speak to him. On the face of it, Aberdeen should fancy their chances of recruiting Adams but County are confident for a reason. SPL, and in Owen Coyle’s case First Division, managers have been recruited by well-paying English clubs at levels the likes of Aberdeen cannot compete with. County chairman, Roy McGregor, is likely to advise Adams to hold off for a more lucrative move south.
When Jimmy Calderwood left Dunfermline for Aberdeen in 2004 chairmen John Yorkston explained his surprise at Calderwood heading north, explaining that he believed one day Calderwood would move to Ibrox. Aberdeen proved to be a plateau for Calderwood, as it has been for most over the last couple of decades.
If they don’t get Adams chances are they will go back to Motherwell; back-to-back second place finishes are exactly what is needed at Pittodrie right now.
Best of luck to Gordon Strachan on his first competitive game as Scotland manager tonight.

See that Stella Artois…it should be banned fae the shops.
Just up and ma laminate has a fine coating of Bobby’s nuts, a broken Tennants (special edition) glass, a pair of stilletos (sans owner), back door lying open (in this weather), a phone number scrawled with lipstick on my fridge, a 2″ gash on my left wrist and a stinking hangover…
All in all a good night!

17 year old son can in at 3am with a sore face having been jumped while walking home with some friends from Stamperland to Clarkston at about 1am.
I’m sitting here wondering where were the police?
Then I remembered they were probably too busy planning there next move against the the Green Brigade. You know, the GB who have never been involved in any violent acts but have the temerity to support Celtic.
Great place to live.
I see Scotland crashed and burned last night. Looks like the end of this campaign … time to build for the future.
And Derek McInnis for Aberdeen according to this morning’s press
Minx1888 – they will all be cursing me, can’t believe it’s so bad at this time of year.
ACGR – it’s still in use! recovering means having a few glasses of wine instead of a few bottles, although that could change as the night goes on.
HH
Super Sutton 1027.. Sorry to hear that…I m a south sider myself and always warning my Bhoys…to be wary, though sometimes that’s not enough.
And yes , you’re right.. The cops are too busy stopping people driving at 32 mph or in bus lanes. Granted I know that is wrong, but you catch my drift..
Last week it was a strangely proactive policing..seldom seen..
For my fellow CQN runners… No park runs for me.. But I ll take on a treadmill!
HH
Supersutton – hope your bhoy is ok.
Mine is away camping with the scouts for the weekend. Brrrrr…no thanks!
Should toughen him up.

In general it’s safe here but yes always telling him (and older brother) to be careful. But sometimes wrong place wrong time.
Next time he getting a taxi!
Art of war.
Son is ok. Cut and fat lip. Bruised cheek. Only took one kick to the face as he had his head down when ducking and throwing first attacker over him. Managed to flee from them. His friend also took a few blows.
He’s had worse injuries playing football but you always worry about their confidence after things like this.
He’s a happy go lucky type of guy so hopefully will be ok.
I’m not sure whether zonal marking would have helped in this case :)

No, wait……sorry…..hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Wherefor art thou, BDO…?
Super Sutton
Sorry to hear about your son. Hope he’s ok and it doesn’t affect him in the future.
I myself am out tonight in wintry Glasgow for a stag do. The good lady will be picking me up as i don’t fancy waiting about for a taxi in this weather.
Alloa Chairman on Sevco: “My reaction is one of mild amusement. Wouldn’t it be lovely if we all got to dictate which league we play in?

You’re arguing your case often enough, but it get’s less convincing by the minute.
Apparently not often enough given the signal lack of any semblance of actually reading my posts. Now, if you’d like to go back, read my point of view and come back at me with some form of relevant comment I’d be much happier.
It’s getting *very* tiresome replying to posts where people are “catch me out” on stuff I simply have not said or defended. Argue on facts and points, not what you wish my points of view are in order to score some petty, fundamentalist monocultured point. I make this request having read your post – which I’ll now rebutt in more detail.
Interested in your view of how a 17 yr old Celtic Supporter, who is struggling to get a decent job but is finding his opportunities of advancement actively hindered by Strathy’s Finest due to their love-in with the SNP ( do you actually deny the existence of this love-in???)…how should he feel?
This bill doesn’t just affect Celtic supporters. Rangers supporters have been arrested under the same bill. It’s a terrible piece of legislation. And as I have said repeatedly, any bill that gives the police subjective powers is a bad bill.
Let me reitterate – My core political values are anarchist socialist.
Let me reitterate more from a previous reply – “The party I vote for before independance (SNP), are not the party I’ll vote for post independance – or at least, I’ll visit my principle, rather than my pragmatism, and base my vote on whos manifesto is most socialist and equal.”
You also seem to have missed completely that I’ve posted a link to Liberty’s appraisal of the bill, which is not a positive appraisal.
However, if you think my opinion that the bill was well meaning, but ill thought out, rushed and should be repealed (and I hope it will be) means I approve of it, so be it.
As an SNP supporter, are you representing such a person in your defence of the SNP? It’s not a loaded question. The fholk you’ve been debating with have been makling their points more in relevance to defence of the Celtic Support, but as yet, you haven’t.
No. Specifically, Ernie Lynch has been making a fool of himself, wrongly accusing the SNP of being sectarian and having “never had a Catholic in the cabinet or shadow cabinet”. I disapprove of lying. I disapprove of party political lies to back the Labour Party.
You seem more passionate about the SNP than you do about Celtic (ie, all of us). You lost the debate with Ernie Lynch as soon as you made your first post at him on this subject yesterday. Since then, every time your emboldened posts appear it becomes more infuriating.
Really?: The party I vote for before independance (SNP), are not the party I’ll vote for post independance – or at least, I’ll visit my principle, rather than my pragmatism, and base my vote on whos manifesto is most socialist and equal. Despite 5 or more years on here arguing a libertarian (in the true, not US style), pro human rights and civil liberties angle you think that wanting to be objective and deal in truth makes me pro SNP and not so hot on Celtic? Educate yourself man. Stop jumping to ridiculous and frankly silly conclusions.
If we’re going to debate – let’s do based on the truth. Lets do it based on having perspective and not being mired in a petty tribal paranoia. Rangers fans think the bill is aimed at them. Celtic fans (some of) think the bill is aimed Celtic. It’s not. It’s just a terrible, catch all bill. And it should be repealed.
If the SNP, OR independence, are/is so important to you, why refuse to deal with this issue that is not only staring you in the face, but affecting the man, woman & child of Celtic families in abundance?
What issue? The bill that I’ve been posting critical, pro freedom of expression links about? The one I’ve been criticising on here since the start of this? About the same Green Brigade I’ve been defending since their inception? The same Green Brigade I’ve donated money to since the days of the Miklos Feher banner? The same Green Brigade I defended with the “f*ck UEFA” banner? Need I continue?
I hope you don’t respond with an excuse as to why the SNP “rushed” though a bill against the advice of every qualified contributor except that of Strathclyde Polis, Pat Nevin and Darryl Broadfoot. They didn’t rush it. They took their time, and forced it through anyway, against good advice.
You’re as paranoid as Ernie. The bill was rushed through. Open your eyes. Step away from the monocultured bunker you’re in and see the truth. The bill targets everyone. Everyone. It’s a terrible, draconian bill. It’s not there for just Celtic fans.
This latest attack on the Green Brigade is an orchestration between Club and Police, not Government and Police. However, the SNP should stand accused of introducing an awful bill. And should rightly be criticised for it. more to the point, the main target of criticisism should be one of the SNP’s Catholic Ministers – Roseanna Cunningham. For it is she who pushed the bill.
My point is, why are you defending them here, of all places, and not spending the time demanding an explanation and a retraction from them? Or do you feel that would be a waste of time?
How do you know what I’m doing? Here’s a tip – if you don’t have a crystal ball or an insideaheadascope, don’t assume that because you think I’m doing nothing that’s actually what I’m doing.
Equally, I abhor bigotry dressed in green as much as bigotry dressed in blue.

Aye. Named them and managed them for about 18 months. Before that Boydstone.

When did you manage them? I played in early to late 80’s for Marland House, the BT team.
Art of War – you should never let Tranny’s drink Stella….well that’s what Che told me! ;-)
SuperSutton – hopefully your bhoy will put that down to experience and his confidence will not be affected.

I’ll say one thing for chuckles, he certainly likes a challenge.
I see he’s organised a fundraising sashbash vs linfield the same night as Barca v PSG and Juve v Bayern.
Or maybe he’s just really desperate.

Firstly, glad to read your son is OK.
You think the police want to get involved in rough and tumble? Or monotonous stuff like protecting the public? He might have had a chance were the police further eroding civil liberties by having a tv camera crew though.
Then I remembered they were probably too busy planning there next move against the the Green Brigade. You know, the GB who have never been involved in any violent acts but have the temerity to support Celtic.
To be fair, they’re more likely to be planning their next donut at this time in the morning.
Great place to live.
Across the whole UK the erosion of civil liberties is a concern. As is the ever increasing scope and powers of the Police. It’s a sad day when we’re discussing needing protection from the police – although that’s been familiar refrain in some parts of the country for years.
A few years back I tackled a racist harrassing a black girl. The police sat back and watched this idiot harrass her. They also watched him hit me with a knuckle duster when I intervened on the girls behalf. They only sprung to action to “break things up” after I’d choked the guy unconcious. Thankfully I’d enough witnesses to claim I was acting in self defence, otherwise I’d have likely been arrested.

The huns songs were illegal because they were sectarian.
Ours weren’t because they were political.
The purpose of the legislation was to even up the score by making our songs illegal on the basis that they are deemed to be offensive.
Christine Graham admitted as much in the committee hearings.
Why would the SNP wish to even up the score?
Do they have something against the Irish Catholic immigrant section of the Scottish population?
Are we not Scottish enough for them?
Are we part of an inferior race?
The SNP’s history certainly suggests so.
p8ddy – wow, very bold of you! :-)
Well done!

I concur with you that this legislation was flawed and rushed, but, I do believe there was purpose in the ‘madness’.
The SNP govt. did not like that recent historic data showed that bigotry against Irish/Catholic backgrounds was still vastly disproportionate. They did not like this either as an image or as an issue to deal with. What they needed to do was to ‘lose’ the existing data and to ‘create’ new data. The new data needed to show that any issue was evenly spread and related to a ‘rump’ of society across the board, thereby absolving mainstream society and create a national image of equity.
The ‘new’ data being established evidences this and the remarkable ‘change’ is entirely down to how the Police have embarked on ‘managing’ the approach so that the data reflects what Salmond wants.
Also, at the same time the approach to focus on small groups of football fans helps build the idea that bigotry has been effectively ‘cleansed’ and has been ‘kettled’ into small groups of people mainly attached to football. It creates the myth that there is no real societal issue to deal with outside of football.
This approach is self serving for BOTH parties and I think the evidence now shows this shared beneficial agenda being played out.
My point? Irrespective of how poorly thought out, formed or enacted, this legislation has a deliberate purpose which both parties are effectively enacting to their mutual benefit.

Sorry, in my haste I forgot – there is no Rangers. I meant Sevco! :D
They ‘think’ a lot of things are against them. Opus dei, Cafflick schools, Peter lawwell, The MSM, SPL bigots ……..
You’ve done your homework and been reading old “Blotto” Leggatt haven’t you! :D :D
The man is a hoot. His comedy gem about Whyte suing “the media” at the “old bailey” was priceless.
If Rangers truly want to reclaim their glory days, they should take a player, house him in Ally McCoists old house, dress him in Ally’s old clothes and rename him Ally McCoist. They should repeat this proceedure with all their players, naming them after the “greats”. Given they reckon the same process has turned Sevco into Rangers, it’s a no brainer! Bound to work! A team of stars in no time, AND beating the transfer embargo! :D

Motion 4 next: It proposes a new ‘black card’ to deal with a specific category of foul, relating to ‘cynical behaviour’. #gaa
sounds like an idea we could adopt – then again
