Managerial talent

Derek Adams propensity to waste time and then complain about time being added on should not obscure the fact that he is a remarkably productive football manager.  Ross County, from Dingwall, population 5,000, are sitting fourth in the SPL and remain in touching distance of a place in Europe.  No need to highlight their Scottish Cup campaign in 2010.

It is, therefore, no surprise that Aberdeen have asked Ross County for permission to speak to him.  On the face of it, Aberdeen should fancy their chances of recruiting Adams but County are confident for a reason.  SPL, and in Owen Coyle’s case First Division, managers have been recruited by well-paying English clubs at levels the likes of Aberdeen cannot compete with.  County chairman, Roy McGregor, is likely to advise Adams to hold off for a more lucrative move south.

When Jimmy Calderwood left Dunfermline for Aberdeen in 2004 chairmen John Yorkston explained his surprise at Calderwood heading north, explaining that he believed one day Calderwood would move to Ibrox.  Aberdeen proved to be a plateau for Calderwood, as it has been for most over the last couple of decades.

If they don’t get Adams chances are they will go back to Motherwell; back-to-back second place finishes are exactly what is needed at Pittodrie right now.

Best of luck to Gordon Strachan on his first competitive game as Scotland manager tonight.

zimmerman, I was in Israel about the time of this dire straits gig. My most memorable moment was at a kibbutz near Ein Gedi being mistaken for someone else, getting ma hole and climbing Masada the next morning with my new found israeli love bumpkin. She carried a semi automatic rifle at all times, thankfully it never came between us.

You’re arguing your case often enough, but it get’s less convincing by the minute.

Interested in your view of how a 17 yr old Celtic Supporter, who is struggling to get a decent job but is finding his opportunities of advancement actively hindered by Strathy’s Finest due to their love-in with the SNP ( do you actually deny the existence of this love-in???)…how should he feel?

As an SNP supporter, are you representing such a person in your defence of the SNP? It’s not a loaded question. The fholk you’ve been debating with have been makling their points more in relevance to defence of the Celtic Support, but as yet, you haven’t.

You seem more passionate about the SNP than you do about Celtic (ie, all of us). You lost the debate with Ernie Lynch as soon as you made your first post at him on this subject yesterday. Since then, every time your emboldened posts appear it becomes more infuriating.

If the SNP, OR independence, are/is so important to you, why refuse to deal with this issue that is not only staring you in the face, but affecting the man, woman & child of Celtic families in abundance?

I hope you don’t respond with an excuse as to why the SNP “rushed” though a bill against the advice of every qualified contributor except that of Strathclyde Polis, Pat Nevin and Darryl Broadfoot. They didn’t rush it. They took their time, and forced it through anyway, against good advice.

My point is, why are you defending them here, of all places, and not spending the time demanding an explanation and a retraction from them? Or do you feel that would be a waste of time?
