Mariners confirm Rogic deal

963

Tomas Rogic’s club, Central Coast Mariners, formally announced they had agreed terms to transfer the player to Celtic a few hours ago.  The Australian attacking midfielder, who turned 20 last month, will require a work permit before the transfer is concluded, but should be a formality.

After having an extensive look at the player, Neil Lennon will think there is an excellent chance he will be a successful addition to the team, but it’s worth remembering that Victor Wanyama joined at the beginning of last season at the same age as Tomas and took six months before securing a regular starting place in the team.
[calameo code=000390171cc0c3617c8cc lang=en page=80 hidelinks=1 width=100% height=500] I have avoided all YouTube clips of the player (which are notoriously misleading) but by all accounts he is an excellent prospect, however, he will need our support and encouragement as he settles into life in Scotland – especially if he acclimatises to the Scottish game.

Mary Beard, a classics professor, seems to be the only one on that panel offering any kind of sane contradiction to this Daily Mail right wing immigrant blaming panel.

The only main difference between this QT and any episode from the 80s-90s -apart from the replacement of Robin Day by Dimbleby, is the utter dominance of right wing thinking prevalent today.

  8. The Exiled Tim,

I agree about the refs. And I’m pretty certain it was Auldheid who pointed out the flaw in having refs assessed by their own bosses ie the refs assoc.

I actually had the unfounded theory that the refs allowed Rangers to win 9 in a row AND allowed us to stop the ten, or at the very least stopped hindering us quite so much (Bobby Tait, aside). Almost like some sort of organisation whose purpose was to apply justice – what was I thinking!

This is the first time I’ve ever mentioned it, not even when I’ve been drunk, and probably the last, as well.

  24. FFM,

Was at a BBQ about four years back at the invite of a taxi driving fellow Tim ( not googybhoy ).

Conversation got on to Polish workers and my fellow Tim waxed lyrically about sending the Polish back to where they came from as they were robbing his and other folk of jobs.

I deem myself to be relatively open minded and a mild mannered individual but unfortunately let rip with how his attitude mirrored the attitude of the Scottish indigenous nation to the Irish immigrants many years ago ( and also in today’s age, help ma boab ).

Left the BBQ 10 minutes later with my wife ( who was delighted at my stance and strength of feeling) and burger in hand :))

  27. The same club? Or not the same club? Is that the question?

An interesting bullet was dodged earlier this season by those in authority in Scottish Football.

When The Rangers lost convincingly 0-3 at home to Inverness in the Scottish Communities League Cup, a slow moving train was de-railed that otherwise could have hit the equivalent of the Scottish Football buffers if it were allowed to gather pace to it’s final destination.

Were The Rangers to have been succesful in this tournament and actually won it the myth that lies within the smoke and is reflected in the mirrors would have been exposed and laid unambiguously bare.

The old Rangers have won the League Cup in it’s various forms more than any other club (27 times). Were The Rangers to have won it this year would it have been 28 or would it have been 1?

The authorities would like it to have been 28 and move along please, nothing to see here. But would they have been able to justify this continuity?

Given that their seeding process clearly made a distinction between old Rangers, runners up in last season’s SPL and therefore qualifying for a seeded berth, and The Rangers, a new club which was newly introduced to Division 3 and therefore not seeded, they SFL had already made that distinction as any other approach would have resulted in sporting integrity failing on day 1 of the new season.

The club that entered this season’s competition did so at the First Round stage. As seeding is based on the finishing position from the previous season, this club was evidently not viewed as the same club that finished runner up in the previous season’s SPL.

If The Rangers had won the tournament the SFL would have faced a credibility crisis had they registered anything other than a first win for the new club.

The buffers would have been well and truly hit and the myth would have been subsequently de-railed.

The weak leadership inhabiting the offices at Hampden avoided the banana skin. It’s a damning indictment on our game that we will wait a minimum of four years before a footballing authority gets the opportunity to set the record straight, but I doubt The Rangers will have qualified for Europe in four years, so their co-efficient day of reckoning may have to wait even longer.

as much as I want it to happen, I don’t think RTC will be returning.

What is it with Nick Farrage being considered as being credible? I feel like I’ve walked out the room and he was the “sacrificial lamb” guest on Mock the Week getting the mick ripped out of him by Ian Hislop and Paul Merton; I’ve come back in and he’s on Question Time.
