McCoist on wrong end of history

1325

You and I have been in some dark places.  While we remember winning nine-in-a-row by brilliant scouting, tactics and athletic endeavour, we also remember when that proud achievement was violated in 1997 by a considerably less wholesome achievement.

At the end of season 1995-96 Celtic finished second but lost only one game.  I convinced myself that our world was about to be put right.  Tommy Burns’ team would go one step further and win the league in 1997; it had to happen.

It didn’t.

Today I don’t want to talk about the reasons why we didn’t win the league in 1997, we will discuss that in the weeks ahead, but that season taught us the lesson that simply wanting something to happen doesn’t make it likely.

I thought of those dark days yesterday when I hear Ally McCoist’s rallying call:

“We’re going to march right through it

“I’m as positive today as I have been in a long time.

“This institution has been around for 140 years and I want it to be here for another 140 years.

“You’ll see what Rangers mean to so many people. We are really looking forward to the game.
“We have the best fans in the world.

McCoist loves his club the same way his good friend Tommy Burns loved his, but irrespective of the challenge he faces in the league from Neil Lennon’s awesome team, there is nothing McCoist can do to ensure his club survives until the end of the season.

When you’re on the wrong end of history there is nothing you can do about it.

I think we have all been blown away by the bidding on eBay action for the signed Celtic top in aid of the Vanessa Riddle Appeal. The auction ends today and currently sits at an incredible £5000. That’s three zeros, count them! I am very proud of you and your club.

Re: The cloud of poison around Scotland just now

Unfortunately you reap what you sow and I include myself in this. Far too many Rangers fans turn teh other cheek, far too many of us were giving them jobs in teh 1970’s despite being warned by our elders and in hindsight our betters, that if you give one an opening then they are like a cancer and they spread like a disease.

Sadly I fear it is too late to reverse this.

Today I have read a few posts with f words.

On Friday morning I lost a good post that had nothing offensive in it to anyone.

    Very annoying and irritating.

I presume there is no filter if its missing the f word and that there are technical issues thats ditching posts unnecessarily.

When we get all our stolen titles back – should we unfurl the flags all at once or spread them out a bit

See reply from Stephane Bonnes subject of a quiz question last night!(Is it him or a fake?)

    Stephane Bonnes @StephaneBonnes

@CQN We should have a different title presentation each home game at half time. Bring back all the old players to lift their trophies

Lets just pause for a moment and give a thought to all the Celtic players that played their hearts out whilst not knowing the ODDS were stacked against them and we gave them pelters not knowing the ODDS were stacked against our beloved CELTIC.

Get them stinking stars off their manky tops!!!

    No, no, no no,no!!!!!!

Do Kilmarnock, Motherwell or Hearts need a strong ranjurz?

Everyone of the MSM believed that ranjurz would cuff Killie based on the ‘sell out’

‘The crowd will suck the ball into the net’ was how one impartial BBC commentator put it.

    The crowd sucked!!!!

Killie were very comfortable today, they had lots more chances than ranjurz, they contained ranjurz to wide areas and long shots. Shawnie O’Loooko was a shadow of the world beater he was at Dunfermline. Elbows was anonymous, Healy, who had, according to the LL, rediscovered his Norn Irn form in recent weeks, appeared to just be arriving on the pitch when he was substituted. Papac did the ‘giving my all for the cause’ by getting sent off for possibly the most theatrical two-footer since Willy ‘long-dong’ Plumber.

Flatfoot got a dead leg. Goian got ‘injured’ and had to be subbed. ‘We don’t do walking away’ naw, we limp aff in a highly theatrical way!

Killie should have scored more goals than Coisty has chins.

Keevins: ‘If Celtic don’t win the title by more than ten points then ranjurz will feel that they are the moral victors’

Don’t look above you Hugh…Look behind you!!!!

MacPherson’s biography of Jock is superb – I’d thoroughly recommend it. It gets right to the heart of why Jock loathed RFC – he disliked them the way only someone who was brought up to love them could. Some shocking stuff about the way his family and friends treated him when he joined Celtic.

Reading it you can’t help thinking that Alex Ferguson has essentially decided to base his entire career on the Big Man.

FFS – if Our Hero hadn’t called him since Monday – what do you think a real man would have done?

Been straight round to knock nine-in-a-row bells out of him – thats what!

Instead Sally waits for his masters voice! – as pathetic as their European record – you know the competitions they played in where there were no “honest mistakes”!
