You and I have been in some dark places. While we remember winning nine-in-a-row by brilliant scouting, tactics and athletic endeavour, we also remember when that proud achievement was violated in 1997 by a considerably less wholesome achievement.
At the end of season 1995-96 Celtic finished second but lost only one game. I convinced myself that our world was about to be put right. Tommy Burns’ team would go one step further and win the league in 1997; it had to happen.
It didn’t.
Today I don’t want to talk about the reasons why we didn’t win the league in 1997, we will discuss that in the weeks ahead, but that season taught us the lesson that simply wanting something to happen doesn’t make it likely.
I thought of those dark days yesterday when I hear Ally McCoist’s rallying call:
“We’re going to march right through it
“I’m as positive today as I have been in a long time.
“This institution has been around for 140 years and I want it to be here for another 140 years.
“You’ll see what Rangers mean to so many people. We are really looking forward to the game.
“We have the best fans in the world.
McCoist loves his club the same way his good friend Tommy Burns loved his, but irrespective of the challenge he faces in the league from Neil Lennon’s awesome team, there is nothing McCoist can do to ensure his club survives until the end of the season.
When you’re on the wrong end of history there is nothing you can do about it.

Nicely put, Paul: ‘On the wrong end of history’.
But on the right end of Karma …
To quote McCoist: “You’ll see what Rangers mean to so many people … We have the best fans in the world.”
The Ibrox ‘choir’ was in full flow this afternoon, demonstrating (as we knew they would) just what a marvelous institution RFC plc (in administration) really is …
FF
By his own lips condemned.
FF
Ah jist read.. somewhere..
that
Whyte was described as
“The FORMER CHAIRMAN..of the G.A.!!
Is that a Fact??
Antbuddy, know?
Kojo
ampersandel – Being a hun means that your neck, if you have one, is made of the most dignified brass.
I wonder how many huns are muttering about a “tainted title” into their cans of Diamond Whyte this evening. (thumbsup)

Defiant? No, Defeated!
apologies for the word disaster..unbecoming.

Hail hail
I’m in Heaven I’m in heaven
rfc plc (in administration) 0 wee Kilmarnock bunnets 1
Well eat my words a World class performance for fellow Fenian, Ian (St Jude…..saint of lost causes ) Brines. Well played Kilmarnock not lying down to a team for a change…..!!!
You’d thought Rankers would have played their star striker Cousin alongside their other star striker ‘elbows’. Also surprised to hear Snyde in pre comments criticising wee FB for pressing the administrators to get Cousin registered. Auld lizzie thinking about buying them as a gift for her diamond thinggie, after hearing them sing for her.
Visitors to-night , Celtic man, Thistle man (mmmm), although even the wummin now taking an interest, should be interesting night, have a great one and keep safe !!
Hail Hail
McCoist: “The lads know what we’re faced with and they know they only way we can get out of it is hard work. If you’re faced with the prospect of losing your job you get different reactions from different people.”
Chic doesn’t pick up on it. Talks about ‘walking away’ drivel.
McCoist: “I haven’t spoken to Craig since Monday. I’ve got very important meetings coming up with the administrators. The most important thing is the future of the club and the staff within the club. Fraser Wishart has been fantastic with our playing staff. I’ve had meetings with entire playing staff. My door is always open in terms of any questions they need to ask. And the administrators have made themselves available too. The last thing the football club needs is me pointing the finger of blame. I can assure every supporter we’ll be going all out to win every one of our remaining matches. Big objective is to get out of administration by March 31.”
I still like Comical Ally but ………………….it’s THE END, Ally. Back to Question of Sport subs bench, I’m afraid.
Can’t wait for tomorrow now.
After everything this week is now about us for a day or so.
No doubt Lenny will have the players fired up but lets not get distracted. Huge performance and result absolutely necessary.
PS caller on Clyde – if there’s no Rangers there’s no Celtic.
Truly laughable self absorption. The panic is manifest.
Traynor asks a caller, sarcastically, if the Sun has realised yet that Rangers are in administration.
Hypocrite.
Ah could CLEARLY hear the Beastial Choir.. at Ibrox, today
Ramping oot..
Proscribed Songs…
Noo..
Ah wonder if the Glesca Police wull lodge a Complaint tae the Proper
Authorities aboot this RAPE of the Rules of Good Conduct.
Whit’s the Bettin’?

Strange times indeed.
Damn I’ve been busy all day and missed the fun. Hope a few of the bhoys had money on Killie.
This week just keeps getting better.
Weasel words traynor, Neil was asked a question and gave his view.

McCoist: “Disappoint. Really disappointing. If they perform with the same attitude, grit and determination as they did in the second half, we’ll be fine.”

Was that the second half where they scored no goals?

=========================================
Listening on the radio it sounded like they were no where near to scoring any either, they just pressed a bit higher up the park and won a few maore tackles.
And after 45 minutes of listening to Billy Dodds I have a splitting headache!
Never mind the ‘F The Pope and the Vatican’, ‘We hate CEltic Fenian B…….’ and my personal favourite: ‘Who’s the Fenian in the Black’ after Brines had disallowed a goal for them. Can’t wait to see the ‘highlights’!!!!
Paul astonishing news all week and i have just about caught up with the backlog of posting and articles amoungst my interviews this past week. Last of four interviews was this morning and all the feedback expected next week. Just noticed on the bbc website that the Pope is to make some new saints does this mean that our hero has even surpassed sir minty and the real reason he has left the country is that he has gone to rome to be cannonized :-) keep up the good work and i sincerely hope celtic win every other game they play this season we dont need no stinkin rangers but we would like out titles and trophies back…a big well done to WGS on football focus this morning the wee man has always been an excellent ambassador for the club he grew to love and was honoured and priveledged to manage hail hail gordon strachan niel lennon peter lawell and sll the celtic team not forgetting the tremendous fans whose sustained charitable endeavours make me proud YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE !!
The Radio Scotland phone-in should be diverted to The Samaritans tonight.

‘Theatre of Comedy’
What a week, Thank You Comical Ally & The Greatest Celt Ever, Craig Whyte !!
Hail Hail
Would appreciate any download links to the muppet show particularly the rankgers tv one.
Thanks in advance.
Still laughing
Quickly:
I’m finding the radio phone-ins very interesting – never really tried them before.
We’re listening to folk grappling with the removal or re-configuration of a Scottish and Irish – nay celtic – shibboleth.
Fascinating stuff.
On another matter – perhaps they should re-jig their jerseys.

WATP – What? Administration? Ten Points?
Paul
I was thinking the same last night. Tommy Burns did nothing wrong apart from care too much (How could you?) – Bhoy were we close – I say the Pierre goal at Motherwell – 4Ts says the Cadete goal…
There’s no pleasure in their morass. Just a sense of knowing. A sometimes keening knowing, that felt unheard.
It is all about Celtic now.
It only ever was for us.
It only ever will be…

Traynor critising Lennon for ‘getting involved’ as if he chapped the door of the sun demanding to critise the huns.

Had a little chuckle at that image. You’re right of course, the fact they even tried to register a player when they are in administration is just shocking.
Quaffing champers, as I mop the floor, the wife is in the shower and chick and ally have just done the final scene from ghost live on shortbread…..hope the wife’s boyfriend hurries up, got another bottle in the fridge.

Aunt Sally & Rankers in parallell universe territory now. Priceless drivel…….Chic Hun on suicide watch!
Traynor: “Given what I know, I see liquidation as a distinct possibility. They will apply to the SPL to come straight back into the SPL.”
Chic: “There’s nothing in place to say Rangers would have to play their way back up.”
Traynor: “There’s no place in the SFL for them. A handful of clubs will say we need some sort of deterrent with points deductions. But they need Rangers in the SPL.”
Chic: “No matter what happens people are going to be angry.”
Fraser Wishart showing his true colours there……
Hail hail
Jabba and Chick – if Rangers are liquidated they cant join the SFL as there`s no space so they`ll just have to join the SPL.
Naw, there`s plenty of space in the Renfrewshire Amateurs Saturday League Division 6. Let them work their way back up.
