McCoist quite right to hold firm line

980

In terms of pure logic, Ally McCoist was quite right to insist, “I can also assure every Rangers fan I will not be accepting any talk of stripping the club of titles. That is something we will never accept and everyone at the club shares this view.”

It is outrageous to put Sevco in the position of accepting Rangers are stripped of previous league titles while due process has not been carried out.  The very fact that the SFA and SPL are negotiating with Sevco over this matter is reason enough for McCoist to issue a firm rebuttal.  Quite simply, if the authorities are prepared to negotiate, their offer should be rejected until the last moment possible, at which point they will be meekly accepted.

The SFA and SPL must allow due process to take place and remove any need for Sevco to rubber-stamp a judgement on Rangers.  It is wholly inappropriate to discuss or agree the consequences of a guilty verdict, or subsequent punishments (losing titles won illegally is not a punishment), until a verdict is recorded.

Due process, please, nothing more and nothing less.  If Rangers didn’t illegally register players for over a decade neither they nor Sevco have anything to worry about.

These comments are straight from the Nazi handbook and are trotted out by apologists, sympathisers or by former nazis who want to reinvent their past. Repeating them on here with the solitary caveat that it’s what you were told by a German who was part of that regime,( passively or not) doesn’t make them even remotely true.

The “fear” that you speak of was created by Dr Goebels as Propaganda Minister, just before he ordered book burnings. Culling ( or murdering if you like) of party members was a regular occurence from the start to the end & had nothing to do with “agitating red Russian Jews”.

“However, being fair is more important than anything else and I think that for football this decision is the right one. I’m happy I’m at a clean and healthy club with a big tradition and lots of titles.”

    ———-

    Hi ST

Don’t get me wrong I would like to see man mountain at CH – always room for a big no nonsense stopper who can move reasonably quickly. However, my point was that is no longer the main priority fro me this term. I feel Rogne; Charlie and Vic67 give us cover for those 2 positions (I would like to give Wilson another viewing in a settled back line to see what someone saw in him) but agree ideally we would have one more other than him as cover.

I am going to disagree with your assessment of TR & Charlie as they will learn and my hope is the time will all step up a notch this term. My sense is we will do that in the Europa sections and maybe learn more together in there than getting horsed in CL which is what would happen..again just my view that it is too early for this team.

I feel the team can really crack on in 13/14 and make an impact. If …if, we get a playmaker bedded in and a robust striker …and …and, hold onto our key players. You will remember that the route to 67 final saw a succession of semi- final slots in the lower level competitions. I feel that we are the type of club who have to just burst onto the scene and blow them away with our scintillating style before they can suss us out …or pinch our players.

A close call in Europa for me this season then …blow them all away the following season. That’s what keeps me goin’ and some Rioja and wee bits of chorizo and cheese and bread ..but not drinking yet …honest it’s only 10:30 ;-)

A post with which, in general, I agree. I particularly agree with the point about the increasing number of SPL teams trying to play football. I know Bournesuoprecipe criticised me for lumping people on a bandwaggon ( I partly accept theat) but those who still talk of the SPL as being full of hammer-throwing teams obviously do not go to the games

    —-

JJ – Yep for me this is the time to break the mould of the horror fitba that the refs allow…if we forget about the obvious mibbery …time to bolster the ref ranks with some euro refs.

there is talent out there in Europe we could buy in 10 refs on a fixed term contract 2 seasons …tell them to go out and apply the rules. Assess the existing home refs agaist those standards…

the clubs/managers will eventually suss it out and the hammer throwers can go and train for the commonwealth games

we might get back the game we all love

  17. Silver City 1888 on

From a BBC Story, “The SPL want an independent commission to rule on whether Rangers broke the rules during previous campaigns by paying players with so-called side contracts.

They are due to hand over their findings to that commission on 10 August.”

Is this date news? There is so much info flying arround it’s hard to keep track.

  18. Kev. Hoopfully :)). And no more kelvin Wilson Cha sort of players

Stein , I have workmate who is a Leicester fan, he says mills is a big strong ball winning center half , but Seems to have had a balde falling out with his boss

  19. Anybody any thoughts on the new signings situation? (or lack thereof?)

Neil was quoted as recently as May saying that he expected 3 or 4 quality signings – the majority of whom would be first-team ready. We have Fraser Forster, and nobody else. Additionally we have pulled out of a deal for a player who is injured…. and failed (so far) to replace this player. Further – the media are now alluding to the fact that no further signings will be arriving until after the CL qualifiers.

Given the importance of the Champions League to the club (and the opportunities for growth in terms of both finances and profile) – does this not betray a real lack of ambition? Fans thinking of renewing season tickets, celticTV subscriptions etc…. could be forgiven for thinking it does.

  20. Silver City 1888 on

Just reading the quote again. The SPL are handing their findings to the commision on that day. The investigators can then take as long as they like to come to a conclusion. It really doesn’t tell us anything.

I’m no expert on the Spanish Civil War, and the Republican government may not have been a Communist one, but it was leftist, contained Communist elements and was supported by Stalin’s USSR.

The Republican government was anti-Catholic and murdered over 1,000 clergy and religious as well as confiscating and destroying Church property.

The idea that the Church was wrong to support Franco against its persecutor is frankly ridiculous.

We shouldn’t mythologise a government riddled with Communists and Freemasons just because they fought against a Fascist.

Neither side in the Spanish Civil War is worthy of admiration and the Church could hardly not support Franco given the way it was treated by the Republicans.
