Midfield protection

930

While Neil Lennon’s mind will be more engaged with preparations for next season than SPL results between now and then he will be a bit alarmed at how porous his midfield has been recently. Celtic have been leaking goals at the back in an alarming manner but the cover from midfield has contributed most to the problem.

Injuries have been disruptive but it’s surprising that the team shape has not been maintained, irrespective of who is playing.

How dare suggest the weather in Glasgow will be inclement, God will be shining down on us in George Sq. for the demo and then winning the league.

  3. As a long time “Lurker” or more accurately a “Listener” I have been privileged to witness some fab postings and debates on this great blog. I now look forward to actively participating in the culture of this community.

Although this period has had many trials and tribulations I remain confident that the club will continue to move forward in a positive manner under NFL and with the continued support of the fans and the board.

We do have a problem with leadership on the park, especially when Scott Brown is absent. Pride in the jersey is vital and the statement ” This jersey will not shrink to suit inferior players” is not only true of ability but attitude and effort also.

You only have to look at the photographs of the 67 era team, and without a doubt anybody could pick out the captain. Big Billy’s pride and posture was self evident.

On another note I agree with some posters who emphasise that political beliefs should not influence a managers ability to manage a football club. ( Within reason of course ) Having ” Lurked” for some time I would expect that 95% of CQNers would find Paulo Di Canio’s beliefs abhorrent, myself included. This country has fought justifable wars against this doctrine and action could have been taken in Italy where encouraging fascism is a crime. Indeed our own major shareholder has via one of his British companies contributed to the conservative party.

In summary, we may not agree with all peoples views but football is a broad church.

IMO Celtic have evolved into a massive institution with a place for all, however we should protect and be proud of our traditions and heritage.

  5. 67Heaven, judging by how they treat other people’s grounds and cites the residents already do.

Greenpinata, welcome to CQN, heritage and traditions do need to be protected.

I’m not asking that question if you’re waiting on it, don’t like it.
