Midweek change for Celtic

Busy article today, watch out for notes at the bottom on:

Magners ticket competition for 27 December
Mary’s Meals Malawi school kitchen appeal
CQN Annual, final few posting days before…..
CQN Christmas Raffle – winners have been drawn

One of the resources Ronny Deila has been short of since taking over is training days.  Players have stamina, fitness and speed training work to do every week, while there’s rest time before and after games, so time to work on technical aspects are a premium.

Believe it or not, this is the first midweek Celtic haven’t had a game, or players away on international duty, since the second week of July.  The manager has spoken of how difficult it has been to carry out the extensive tactical changes he has introduced spending only stolen minutes working on them.  The January break will give him another opportunity to spend hours with the players on tactical work.

Apparently newco are keeping McCoist as some kind of blubber human shield for Monday’s AGM!  Nice one.  There’s nothing degrading about that, very classy in fact.  Really disappointed for Ally, I’m sure he could almost taste the £400k he’s counting on – to go quietly.  Let’s hope he puts on a show on Monday and they sort him out thereafter.

It’s almost worth buying a newco share to get along on Monday.  Almost.

It’s been a while since I’ve paid any attention to the man who’s apparently lined-up to replace McCoist next week, Billy Davies.  After his interesting second stint at Nottingham Forest ended earlier this year, The Guardian wrote:

“[Davies] has paid the price for failing to control a personality which latterly seemed to have crossed the border into downright paranoia.

“[He] could never quite escape his self-destructive insecurities.”

It’s not often you read a national newspaper liberally speculating on the mental health, or lack thereof, of an individual.

Failing to control his personality, downright paranoia, self-destructive insecurities!  He’s perfect.  Is there a job in the land this guy is more suited for than newco’s manager?

Our pals at Magners have kindly offered a pair of premium seat tickets to the Jock Stein Stand at the home game on 27 December in support of our Mary’s Meals appeal.  You can win the tickets by email me at celticquicknews@gmail.com the answer to the question:

Who do Celtic play on 27 December?

Competition closes at 22:00 tonight (Thursday) so get your entry in.

If you’re entering the competition please consider donating £1 to Mary’s Meals here, where we are hoping to build a kitchen at a school in Chibwata, Dowa, Malawi, for their 909 children.

I’d a look at John Guidetti’s interview with Magners this week, he looks like he’s enjoying himself……..

We’ve drawn the CQN Christmas Raffle, winner of the Special Whisky and CQN Package is ticket number 976, from a lucky reader based in Lythm, we’ll be in touch.

The four runners up all win CQN Packages with ticket numbers 1072, 974, 1190 and 1051, check your tickets, we’ll be in touch soon.

Still time to order your 2015 CQN Annual for Christmas.

You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – oh, and there’s tons of photos, fresh stories and comment on the first time Inter faced the green and white hoops.

  1. Cowiebhoy,

That’s too long to wait for a reply so I’m ignoring ;)

I didn’t notice the post you were replying to. I didn’t go too far back as some of the moonhowling was damaging what I have left of brain cells.

I get what you are saying. Canny really argue, but where I would differ is I think Anya is a tidy player and better than some we have for that position.

Anyways…enjoy your night and I hope you get an Inter ticket ;p

  2. KLV…glad i aint having christmas in your house….our time in the sun will be over…really …im 58….it wont be in my lifetime….

Enjoy reading your posts. What’s your thoughts on Celtic being in cahoots in respect to the 5 ways agreement.

  4. 75 mins… Celtic have two shots cleared off the line from the corner as the hoops chase the winner.

  5. Looks like the bears are not happy with some of the clubs new merchandising range.

Small team mentality they say!!! without a hint of irony

It’s no the club. It’s a sports direct number. They make Shitey t shirts like that all the time. During the World Cup they had loads.

It is a new low though. The team that has the biggest trophy haul in the history of world football bringing out a t shirt to “commemorate” a semi final.

  6. jist when ye thought ye were out :))))

80′ GOAL FOR CELTIC! Griffiths puts the Bhoys in the lead with a finish from the edge of the box. Sunderland 1 – 2 Celtic.

  10. Oh the Inter ticket

Very well done Celtic & JPTaylor

I did send a note on the issue to JPT, and today received a call from ticket office

As put up yesterday, all seats in 103 – 107 are up for grabs, with the exception of those being taken by Euefa, guess what that includes my 2

Anyway, ticket office had sent a letter out, and today followed up with a Telephone call explaining situation

Thank You Celtic Ticket Office for explaining the position and the changes Euefa have implemented now for Europa League

Purchased 2 tickets for the game, even though not my seat :-)

    So I’m in 106

(ps – had they communicated last time I would also have bought the 2 packages – see that communication thingy, it works :-)

    Hail Hail

  12. the glorious balance sheet on

I’m told that Joe Miller was on Super Scoreboard tonight giving it the bog standard “Scottish football needs a strong rangers claptrap” that the likes of mcavennie and walker have been coming out with since 2012

If this is true I am disappointed on 2 counts-

    1. I thought joe was straight enough to tell it at as it is re Sevco;

    2. Joe has been selling CQN wares lately. A cheeky wee signing session at Waterstones Stirling if I recall correctly.

If Joe did indeed say comments of that ilk on Ssb tonight then it’s clear that this blog is happy enough to use Sevco friendly soup takers to flog merchandise while the intelligence of decent Celtic fans is insulted. Its a sad day if we have indeed come to that.

  13. Celtic dawn – when’s the ” we exited admin ” t shirt due out ? Or for me the Mr Custard one ?

  14. Glorious balance sheet -are wee Joe -I belive that Clyde either ask or it’s written in to agreements not to mention the Ragers demise or they are not needed-perhaps that’s why ( note perhaps-cough) a certain past captain of ours isn’t on- TB

  15. Good night timland babysitting duties earyt tomorrow and things to do before bedtime ,

    might catch up later

  16. To give these ex players the benefit of the doubt, we do need a strong opposition. They just need to see that it doesn’t need to be Rangers. So do a lot of our own fans.

  17. FULL TIME: Sunderland 1 – 2 Celtic. A dominant second half from Frail’s side wins the points for Celtic.

  18. the glorious balance sheet on

    Johann Murdoch

That’s fair enough re the Ssb editorial line of denial on the demise of Sevco but I think there’s something incongruous with CQN using soup takers who seek to deny or trivialise rangers cheating to sell books to Celtic fans who have already had their pockets dipped going to bent football matches for the last 20 years.

Our noses are being rubbed in it.

  19. Paul67

If Deila & Collins don’t have enough time to coach the players properly.

May I suggest that they get them in for some afternoon sessions.

    TT

  20. Glorious balance sheet-I wasn’t excusing wee joe -( for me an ex footballer trying to make a living) but I do agree with you more kudos for him to align with the Celtic support re Sevco with his ex celts association than peddle the line ” we need a strong ragers” -we don’t we need Strength from other opponents.

it does seem incongruous to have him signing Cqn books with him being so far aligned from the mood on here re Sevco Hh

    Upper Penilee shoooorley!

The Pens. The famed combo of vandals and Visigoths who stole our apples and would have stolen our women folk had we not been P7s at the time!

I hated a lot of what Ralston stood for. Quite up itself. Not easy given we were pure skinto at the time!
