St Johnstone (through manager Steve Lomas) and Kilmarnock, through Rangers supporter (literal sense) Michael Johnston, have both declared their vote to allow a Newco to take Rangers place in the SPL next season. Celtic will vote against and Dundee United appear open to persuasion. The next most important team in the country is Motherwell.
Motherwell, alongside Celtic, Dundee United and St Johnstone have a place on the SPL board. They are migrating towards ownership and control by a large number of small supporter-shareholders, they’ve benefited from Rangers demise and in July will feature in the Champions League qualification draw, broadcast live from Monaco.
On the downside, despite their on-field success this season, the club will have to trim football budget for the coming season as Champions League qualifying money does not make up for earning less from cup runs this season and inflation pushing costs up.
Motherwell fans seemed to enjoy their visit to Ibrox on Saturday but does anyone expect them to vote against Rangers?

I agree, I think Windy Miller is taking a punt. As Alex Thommo pointed out, D&P statement did not even refer to CW who owns 85% of the shares.
Fritz A. Grandold @fritzagrandold
Initial reaction was “What? Why are they delaying?” Now, I can see what they’re thinking. Clubs unsure whether Bill Miller is even real deal
Looks like the spl agreeing to the delay means they hope HMRC do their job for them.

Been beating this drum for some time now and not with the intention or hope of being a proven doom-sayer but hey c’mon this is going to run and run and run……….
At risk of repeating myself…..
It’s a long game for them; and with the connivance of the brotherhood, their political allies and the the carpetbaggers within, they will hope to draw the whole thing out to achieve the desired result; survival of RIA (no, not a typo) in as near as possible a guise to the original model.
May well mean continued administration (for however long, for them) and the (comparatively insignificant) concomitant penalties that go with it but hey, sorry to say, ‘the people’ will be/are still here giving it out with impunity………….
Hope that I am wrong……..Really!!!

Yorkston said clubs are looking for more clarity on the EBT/SPL inquiry issue. I don’t think there’ll be any hiding places for Rangers.
How I see this unfolding:
1. FTT rules against RFC(IA)
2. SPL can then rule on dual-contracts ( without fear of serious appeal due to FTT ruling)
3. Sanctions mean that RFC(IA) are demoted to SFL
4. Newco have to apply to SFL for admission to Div3.
5. SPL do not need to rule on Newco.
The Temporary Stand @TemporaryStand
Only real weapon in the struggle against Newco huns is boycott. Nothing should be ruled out and that includes season tickets. #NOTONEWCO

Sorry: too long & rambling but need to let loose:
INTEGRITY v FINANCIALS
If I follow the Kilmarnock Chairmans statement correctly he argues the financial losses his club would incurr should a Newco not be allowed into the SPL would be a disaster for his and most other clubs.
Am I missing something here?
NEWCO & FINANCIAL SECURITY
He is suggesting that the existing SPL model has to be maintained to ensure financial security. Pardon me? Where is the evidence of the SPL model being of financial benefit? His is one of the clubs, to a greater or lesser extent, hamstrung by debts built up to dangerous levels. The SPL model AS IT IS, is not a financial success! Continuing with the SPL model is MORE dangerous.
HYPOCRICY
There are SPL clubs past & present (Falkirk, St Johnstone, Partick, Hibs etc) who have fought & trimmed to maintain a stable financial position whilst others like Kilmarnock(!) were delinquent. What hypocrisy! ” We’ll let a Newco in so as to protect my club & the game and continue to hide our own part in this gross mismanagement.”
SKY CONTRACT
This is surely the most bizarre TV contract in the Western World (or elsewhere for that matter).
A GUARANTEE of 4 Glasgow derbies a season, guaranteeing no CFC or RFC finish outwith top 6! And for that get paid peanuts!!
If you hand that type of contract over to TV you should be squeezing every ‘thin dime’ out of them. The person negotiating this deal should have got his jotters.
RFCIA CHEATING
How can SPL clubs pretend to be blind to this? Surely they must see that the cheating in years past has deprived them of much more money than any they will get back by allowing a Newco? I need to shout this at them: THEY HAVE STOLEN YOUR INCOME.
The years of RFC cheating spend contributed to the general level of SPL indebtedness as some others tried to keep up.
The years of RFC cheating spend contributed to a less competitive SPL. A more even league would have been MORE attractive to punters & TV with resultingly more revenue.
The years of RFC cheating spend contributed to other clubs being deprived of glory through entry to cup finals or being winners of trophies. How many more STs might clubs have sold had they been regularly in final stages of tournaments?
Irrespective of SFA/SPL/SFL rules regarding a Newco, it is clear that the current concept of the SPL, media contracts, financial sense, footballing fairness is bust.
NOT SAVING RFCIA BUT SAVING FOOTBALL
The big issue is NOT saving RFCIA but rather finding a format for the betterment of football in Scotland, not for the benefit a particular club or clubs (not for Celtic or anyone else). Should RFCIA or a successor club earn entry to the top flight thats fine by me. That is EARNING entry to a VIABLE top flight.

Scottish Premier League members
want to move the power to deal with
newco applications away from the
board and into the hands of the
clubs.
In a meeting at Hampden, which
administration-hit Rangers did not send
a representative to, the 11 SPL teams
unanimously agreed that they should
change the rules on how a newco team
could be admitted.
Currently it is up to the six man SPL
board, consisting of Neil Doncaster,
chief executive, chairman Ralph
Topping, Eric Riley of Celtic,
Motherwell’s Derek Weir, Dundee
United’s Stephen Thompson and Steven
Brown of St Johnstone, to decide on
whether a newco club can come straight
into the SPL.
Now they want that decision to be
made by representatives of all the
clubs.
The meeting was due to vote on
proposals to set out penalties for SPL
clubs involved in administration and
“insolvency transfer events” – otherwise
known as switching to a ‘newco’.
However, Rangers administrators Duff
and Phelps were not present and asked
for an adjournment until May 30, which
was accepted.
In a statement, an SPL spokesman said:
“The 11 member clubs present in
person at today’s general meeting
unanimously called for the power to
deal with any newco application to be
moved from the board to the clubs.
This requires 21 clear days’ notice. The
clubs will therefore meet again on 30
May to consider a resolution designed
to achieve this.
“In the event that an application for
transfer of share to a newco is received
before May 30, then it can be dealt with
by the SPL board. The SPL board have
indicated that they would, in those
circumstances, call together the clubs
before any such decision was made.
“For the avoidance of doubt, no
decision on any transfer of a share to a
newco has yet been made, nor has any
such application been received.”
The May 30 meeting will now decide on
this matter, the sanctions to take
against clubs in financial problems, and
voting rights.
The vote on how to penalise teams who
go into administration or who form a
newco was previously adjourned for
seven days. American businessman Bill
Miller subsequently assumed preferred
bidder status from Rangers’
administrators Duff and Phelps but firm
powers to deal with a newco
application are still not finalised.
Speaking after the meeting, SPL chief
executive Neil Doncaster denied the
issue had turned into a shambles.
He said: “I don’t think so, I think that is
very unfair. We know that passions are
running high, we know this is a very
sensitive time for Scottish football and
we know that a lot of things are at
stake.
“So it is very important that people take
time to make the right decisions and
are balanced in their approach.
“We had a request just before the
meeting started from the
administrators of Rangers to adjourn
the meeting.
“The administrators I think felt it was
appropriate that any new owner of
Rangers should be involved in
discussions around the sorts of issues
that were considered today and the
clubs agreed with that.”
Dunfermline chairman John Yorkston
said that the representatives did not
have sufficient information to go to a
vote.
Yorkston said: “It took a long time to
not decide anything. We all want to
make quick decisions and come out with
what the story is but we don’t have
enough information.”

Been going to Embra a few times a year for yonks.
Mid prices goodies are the APEX chain of hotels, particularly the one at Grassmarket, looking nothing from outside, but has good rooms, great views, and the restraunt is excellent.
Also the one at the end of pronces st is good, more modern.
If you can push the boat out for a few pennies more, the best place to stay is called
CHESTER RESIDENCE.
georgian apartments, top quality, special place.
and free bar of an evening.
in the west end , 5 mins from princes st.
