I am delighted to say I didn’t think Ryan was good enough for our first team (I said the same with Callum) funnily enough loan spells at Aberdeen & Notts County have helped both … I would loan out every one of our young players … let them learn their trade and not mollycoddled at lennoxtown …
It would benefit us long term … if they succeed they get in the team, if they don’t it puts them in the shop window, if they fail … we don’t lose as obviously not good enough …. win / win

Is Stuart Armstrong injured ?. Cant believe he isnt quoted today
————————————————————————————————-
I wouldn’t take him back in a lucky bag.
Has not made the grade in EPL and totally sold the farm
in the last minute against Engurland, after the Griff scored 2 crackers.
A real mouse heart that we do not need.
Let him stew. He wanted the cash and was never committed.

Just noticed that. He has been linked with a return, i would take.

Thought we oozed class in that second half today. Some of our passing and movement was sublime . If we can get a setled defence with an understanding , this could be a big season for us. Two soft goals lost today but 5 crackers (going on 8) created . So much better to watch than last season.

I didn’t expect Armstrong to excel in England.
£7m does not purchase great expectations.
Now £25m……………..

Lenny stated after the game he knows his team for Tuesday.
With Cluj’s strength from set pieces, I wonder if he is considering a back 4 of …
Elhamed, Jullien, Bitton (or Simunovic) and Ajer ?
Would allow defending cross balls plus break with pace down the wings – they might not expect that setup.
glendalystonsils on
And another thing…………some cool , clinical finishing today . Other than the pen which was well placed , all other 4 goals just inside the post giving the keeper no chance.

When Stuart Armstrong played for Celtic, I thought he was the best player in our team. Would have him back with his pal Victor in a heartbeat.
I think so too. He has great awareness and defenders are struggling to cope with Ryan. What I like is that he hits the ball early and very hard, before the goalie can get set. I think he might get 30 too if he avoids injury. I’m one of the guys who want us to buy more players – but I’m absolutely delighted with our performances so far. I believe Boli and Jullien will come good (hopefully sooner rather than later). It’s all good at the moment. I hope we go for the jugular on Tuesday night against Cluj. Can’t wait.

He has been absolute pants in the EPL.
No question about that.
And, he let the Griff down badly against England.
No question about that either.

It’s all about opinions. I can understand what you say about loaning out our future stars. It makes sense. However, I believe Ryan was already a star when we bought him. His loan at Aberdeen has been beneficial for him. I’ll admit to that. :-))

I think the fact his dad Charlie failed at Celtic, is driving Christie junior on. Love his scalped heid too. Looks meaner and hungrier. 30 goals fae midfield will win us the league. Scoring a hattrick fae outside the box last week was unprecedented. Love the Snecky Bhoy.

In my opinion Armstrong was no better than average so I wouldn’t be overly keen to have him back. Victor, yes.
Cant blame him for wanting to test himself but I dont think he could be guaranteed a place with us now….which is good for us
Celtic Mac on
According to some on here we still need to sign a left back, a centre-mid and a centre-back. This is where the genius of Pete Lawwell is needed. When we signed Victor Wanyama as a midfielder, when we were crying out for a centre-back, (when aren’t we ever) Big Pete put it about that the big man could also play as a central defender. Manager Neil Lennon got on board, and for his first game, against St Johnstone at home, Neilly started Vic at left back, switched him to centre-mid, then later moved him to centre half. We lost 1-0 by the way, but the point was proven, Celtic did not buy just one player, but three players all rolled into one. Not a trinity as such, but as close as we would get short of divine intervention. Pete’s still here, Neilly’s back, only thing missing is Victor, sign him and all our problems are solved. Again!
