Nerves jangle a week ahead of Europe

890

You and I have been through a few close seasons together, so  it’s no surprise we have this uncomfortable feeling as we look ahead to (hopefully) four hugely important Champions League qualifiers while contemplating how ring-rusty Celtic have looked preseason.  These games really don’t matter, of course, they are there to allow us to experiment and build fitness for the real challenges ahead, but you would rather we were turning teams over 4-0 than being on the receiving end.  Evidence, perhaps, that the experiments were leading somewhere.

Lots of coverage today of the fall-out from Friday’s meeting between the SFA and Sevco, some of it informed.  Huge issues clearly still remain before they will be granted permission to join the SFA but they would not be helped by their prospective manager, Ally McCoist, walking away this week.   Sevco have not sold many season tickets but if McCoist goes their chances of doing to will become increasingly scarce. Friday’s comment from McCoist sounded like a scene-setter for a resignation letter.

i think celtic did have the development squad playing out of celtic park last year and a good few thousand turned out. i agree celtic should be looking to use the stadium/ facilities more often but it seems there is never any long term plans to grow the club or what it has to offer fans its a case of turn up when the first team is playing watch the games and get ta f&ck asap, while every business within 3 miles takes money from our fans, if only we could offer our supporters drink, food, warmth, music, hotels, shops, cafes/ restuarants, sports bars etc, if only we could get people into the stadium envios every day of the week in numbers, watching their team home and away, watching other teams, watching, other sports etc… we can but dream

i only hope that celtic have a grand plan that will see us become a more profit off the park, which will transform our fortune on the park, i live and hope

If things such as the Kelty cancellation was happening to Celtic can you imagine the fun the rags would have at our expense?

Kelty were stupid to have arranged the fixture.

For those of you interested in the ongoing operation Hornet saga, it would appear that the hornet is sharpening its sting, and that charges against HBOS officials are imminent!

Watch the fall out from this as much of the money pocketed by the corrupt HBOS officials appears to have been lodged in a British Virgin Islands Bank account with the name “Charlotte 18”.

Previous reports have stated that some of those who ultimately benefitted from the forced, “cheap” and potentially illegal sale of distressed assets belonging to HBOS customers included some of the banks favourite corporate customers like…… well one had his headquarters in Charlotte Square, Edinburgh and once owned a football club!

  4. Were there any tickests sold for the Kelty game and if so are they going to remain valid for their next meeting?

  5. Kit

I think included in Kelty’s statement it said that tickets already purchased would remain valid.

  6. Thanks for the replies.

I have to ask who was going to sue anybody if Sevco did not turn up but, instead the same group of Sevco-employed players turned up for the fixture to represent a local Kelty pub?

Could the SFA stop that happening?

Would anyone ask for their money back?

Or is it just because there’d be no valid insurance cover for player injuries?

is there any connection between hornet and Gavin Masterton ?

or it is solely HBOS, and not BOS ?

    _____

    from CU 22/04/12

To get a hold of Rangers in the first place, it is said that Murray approached Gavin Masterton. Masterton at the time was a senior figure at Bank of Scotland with his specific sphere of influence being corporate lending. He later went on to become both Managing Director and Treasurer of BOS as a whole. The story goes that Masterton tossed a coin, and told David Murray that if the coin came up heads, then he would accept Murray’s guarantee and he could therefore take over Rangers. Until then BOS had a security over Rangers in return for £6M– now they had that and a Murray guarantee. No need to even part with the nominal £1!

Many years ago I knew a guy from Kelty. I’ve never met anyone, before or since, who spoke in such disparaging terms about the place they lived.

He said that people in surrounding areas referred to them as the Kelty Cavemen :-)

Can’t disagree mate. Did you renew this season b.t.w? I did only last week but I guess it was very unlikely that I wouldn’t and now that oldtim will be closeby it was a no brainer:o)

But where does that put The Exiled Tim in his cave:o) Speaking of whom he’s probably just parking the tractor and feeding the dogs after a hot and tiring day in the fields. That would be the hot and hun free fields.

“However, operating with an embargo on an already depleted first team squad – even with a window to sign players – will make the task ahead an extremely difficult one.”

And the manager added: “It is important to remember we have already had a 10 point deduction from the SPL, # For going into administration.

lost our Champions League place for finishing second last season,# That was the old club. It´s going to be liquidated. Never paid any tax last year…

had a £160,000 fine,# Bringing the game into disrepute. Pennies for them…

been refused entry to the SPL,# The same league and members they cheated for the last 10 years. They weren´t wanted. Oldco or Newco…

been relegated to Division Three# No they weren´t. That´s where they should start as a new company, generous enough…

and lost the majority of our first-team squad# That´s their own fault and was not a punishment dished out by anybody involved in their mess

    – yet still the governing body has chosen to impose further sanctions. ??????????????????????????WTF?????????????????????

I don´t think they have even started yet……

  17. LuxCelt

Excellent idea, but I believe Celtic have already struck a deal with the Maryhill Magyars to play all under20s matches at Firhill next season. Why cant the matches be played at Barrowfield? Not been there for a while but is it unfit to host competitive matches? Or is it to do with the fact that redevelopment work is to start there soon, if it hasnt started already?

All up in the air at the moment

My son whom I go with is starting Aberdeen Uni in sept and won’t be going

Also I’m am somewhat depressed with the whole Scottish football set up …from the sfa and their save the Hun craic to CFC and their complete lack of ambition in the transfer market

I’ll probably renew ,I won’t be difficult to accommodate as I’m on my own and can sit anywhere

Normally I’m buzzing about the new season ahead……uncommonly apathetic at present ….maybe it’s the rain. :-))

Don’t talk to me about weather! We had rotten weather in France, the missus has just checked the 5 day forecast for where we were staying. Blue skies, sunshine and 25degrees, she ain’t amused!!

  20. Some comedy posts from a deluded Sevco website:-

“Being a Rangers fan right now is like being the only sober person in a car that is hurtling towards a brick wall, but nobody will let you drive.

The SFA, The SPL, the Tims and Diddy team fans etc… all seem perfectly fine with destroying the game and their own clubs because they where so short sighted that they could not fathom that no Rangers in the SPL meant no access to Rangers TV rights.

    F*** em. ”

“I still find it hard to believe that the SPL are trying to take our TV money away. Have we not been punished enough? They’re still attacking us with these demands for titles to be stripped and sanctions that take our TV money away. There must come a point when the club says enough is enough. We need to start fighting our corner before the SFA/SPL do damage that can never be fixed. ”

“After yesterdays news that unless the SPL recieve the rights to broadcast rangers games (of course they dont want to pay for them) in exchange for rangers license to play competative football & SFA membership, then they shall not be making the annual settlement payment.

This can only mean that the SPL is Financially BANKRUPT”

“tell them to stick their licence & see what their would do then.”

Are you sure Dumbarton did not retract from their earlier intentions? Brechin are one are they not? Sorry to annoy people but I would really like to know who were assisting the cheats.
