No rest period for Emilio will be welcomed

673

I know I’m not the only one with a pavlovian dislike of hearing Celtic players mentioned in international match reports in June.  Preseason training is only four weeks away, quickly followed by the Champions League qualifying round, so these weeks should be for rest and recuperation.  The one exception to the rule, this summer, is Emilio Izaguirre, who is set to play two World Cup qualifiers for Honduras over the next two weeks.

Emilio missed most of last season through injury and then sat out much of the remaining part of the campaign due to the impressive form of Charlie Mulgrew.  He is the one player in the squad who benefit from competitive football to restore his edge, and confidence.

  1. Sorry to hear about Alan Thompson.

He was one of the real men whom put the fear of all Gods into der hun, whilst lining up in the tunnel.

A great left foot coupled with courage and pride, made him a force to be reckoned with.

    Best wishes for the future.

Alcohol can be a curse mate.It seems like Lenny has winded his neck in,but do ya know what hit me there? – Thommo – he is only 38!! – just a bit older then i am,yet look at the things they have achieved, and the stress and grief that they have all been through – think Thommo has recently been divorced – Lenny and Johan couldn’t be much older?

How can i pass judgement myself,i am sitting here having a cold cider sure?

But the thing is this – i am just a regular worker,i am not employed by the CFC – When a person joins that outfit, there is a lot of responsibility – and i dare say that they are getting paid a decent wage.

Professional – that is the word here – you are talking about possible qualification to the CL group stages – the greatest show on earth – and the margins are slim – there are dozens of other European sides aiming for the same goal as we are.

There is too much at stake here.Nobody is bigger than the CFC,and that includes you,me,Thommo,Lenny,Desmond,Lawwell or even the great Stein himself.

Well said and I agree with all of it.

Neil knows now more than anyone else he is carrying the hopes and dreams of so many people and it is imperative that He himself improves and that means all the people around him improve as well.

The press will try and make this into a bad moment for Celtic but Neil will, IMO, make very good use of this crisis.

I can still see a cracked Celtic badge in the rags though. o_O

Is the Blue Lagoon not in Argyll Street? Under the bridge? There is another one, beside the train station all the same – maybe it’s a franchise these days?

A feed out of that establishment guarantees a heart-burn free next day hangover, literally swimming in grease the grub is.

Just on up,opposite the Witherspoons,on the other side of the street – there is this real wee hun dive – can’t remember the name of the pub,all black & white pictures on the walls of boxers and old hun teams – anyway, this Sunday night,me & my mates had been on a pub-crawl all over the centre – so we staggered into that wee bar, after Witherspoons, around 10 o’clock it was,ya just looked about the place and knew it was hun land – so we ordered the four pints and sat at the bar, there was only about half a dozen oul timers in drinking there at that stage (luckily for us maybe).

So they start yarnin’ away – the usual,”where yiz fae?” – “Shankill” – the obvious answer – then they start swearin’ the Pope,Fenians,Celtic…blah blah blah. And when yer in drink,ya can only listen to so much of that tripe. One of the mates goes for a whizz, then as he walks back into the bar,the hands go up and the Hail Hail begins, and we all join in – the oul lads start shaking and banging their glasses off the bar,and fair play to them, they called us all the names under the sun,”Papist bees”,i can always remember that old time insult.

Then the barman,a big c***,he grabs the phone and starts shouting – “gtf ya fenian so-an-sos,im callin’ the polis!”

We just lifted our pints and staggered outside, buckled over laughing, singing the Celtic Song. The worst thing is,there is this big swanky hotel just a wee bit up from all the madness.

There is something about Glasgow, even though that pub was a hun place – Glaswegians are tough, tough people. They drink this stuff called Heavy as well,it looks like an ale of some type.

Thinking back now,i consider myself fortunate that we didn’t land into that pub earlier, when it maybe could have been packed with huns.

Anyway – Peace to the Celtic nation.

  8. Chairbhoy,

I listened to a podcast tonight and the person was saying that they have just found an unblemished red heifer in Israel (possibly 2) and because of its significance they are keeping it secret from the Americans. Whether this is just speculation or not I don’t know as there is no news on google about it.

    Wonderful stuff?

I think if Celtic supporters are to survive into the 21st Century any further with the stamp of an egalitarian future in the spirit of brother Walfrid without the huns as a mill stone we need to find our role as Post Modern androgynous monkeys just to be unique. Ken likesy. Otherwise we’ll be like the

I think the Hun has devoured itself. I just can’t see anyway they can be operating next season. It has been like a game where the odds were stacked against us but we have not flinched a millimetre in the way we have tackled them. They are dangerous at all times but our gameplan has been long term, Brian Quinn has been essential, likewise John Reid for his short stint despite on field results not being good and hopefully Bankier will be as well

If after a season they come back and start in Division 3, they will not be anything like the supremacist scum they are now IMO. They will also have no history so most of the vermin won’t even bother.

In the meantime Celtic will hopefully be going onwards and upwards in every sense, especially as the FFP should level the field at least a bit now.

I agree with you. However, have you ever seen those documentaries where the lionesses seem to treat with depraved indifference the murder of their own young to the perceived powers that be? I still feel that Celtic is a healthy robust lioness that still doesnt call all the shots compared to its diseased nemesis.

The G man will be fresh for the Euros as he was not used enough last season by Neil.

From our attacking midfielders/forwards…….. this is the order of importance I have for each of them going forward.

    James Forrest

    Georgios Samaras

    Gary Hooper

    Kris Commons

    Paddy McCourt

    Anthony Stokes

James Forrest is going to be unreal next season, the improvements in just one year have been remarkable.

Georgios Samaras will get better and better when players around him are better, you have said this before.

Gary Hooper needs to have that “attitude” he had against Hearts every game he pulls on the Hoops shirt. He has the potential to be a Celtic Great but needs to threaten 40 goals next season which means very few off days.

The others need to do a lot more for me, Kris Commons has the best chance of getting a place next season but he will need to get back to his very best form.

Didnae realise ye had taken some timeout, I hope all is well with your good self and you are now suitably recharged and raring to go again.

We are in a country where we are not appreciated nearly enough.

    It is Bigotry.

I listened to Paul67 tonight talk very well on BBC Scotland, if I was a listener passing through without any allegiance, I would have continued listening because he spoke well and spoke a lot of sense.

If Dermot closed down the Huns, and lets face it he could because he has the finances and the contacts to do so, what would happen in Scotland?

Tims would feel the brunt of it, and very painfully because these bitter people would target the smallest and most innocent amongst us.

The way things have transpired, the Huns are destroying themselves because of their stupidity and because they are being constantly placed in situations where they are exposing themselves further all the time for what they really are.

I still have that nagging doubt in my head that they will escape this and Lord it over us again, thankfully, it is getting less every day.

Anyone know if there’s a definitive date by which everyone MUST know whether RFCiA are still going to be in existence next season, in order that the fixture lists can be drawn up, and so that we know exactly who’s playing in which league come the end of July / start of August?

At the risk of putting ideas into the computer that churns out the fixture lists, is there a possibility of a ‘delay’ being built into the dates for RFCiA’s fixtures so that they can start playing a condensed program of fixtures by Sept or Oct, “for the good of Scottish football”, in case that club are not ready by the start of the new season?

  22. Just woke out of a drunk sleep and seen tommo is gone no shock here think commons will be next if what I have been told is true from last season one of the reasons we did not see much of common it was not football reasons sad for tommo he has to get his life together it’s a downward slop he’s on
