Odsonne and fixing whatever ails Celtic

181

Six weeks after testing positive for Covid while on international duty with France Under 21s, Odsonne Edouard made his first return to goal scoring form with two early strikes for the French youths against Switzerland last night.  He is now clear as the Under 21s all-time top scorer.

This period has been a turbulent one for Celtic, who dropped five points in the league and suffered a humiliating home defeat to Sparta Prague.  Odsonne has been used sparingly since returning to the team as a late substitute away to Lille and looked short of full fitness.

If we are to fix whatever ails Celtic, getting this man putting the ball in the net regularly again will be necessary.

  1. SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12 & OSCAR KNOX on 17TH NOVEMBER 2020 12:19 PM

If they’d asked Shankly & Busby they’d probably have nominated Jock as higher than them on that list, at the very least.

Sounds to me like the daft thing a single issue magazine invents to stimulate interest.

How can you possibly compare managers from different eras and different countries, or teams for that matter?

A bit like history being written by the victors or in this case the one with the most cash…

I’m sure 442 had a handicap system so that Fergie got more points for his EPL league titles & his Champions League titles, while Jock had a paltry one Big Cup & one runner up & 9 diddy league titles.

I think Ferguson would even put Jock above himself in that list.

In winning the big cup the first time Celtic competed in it….

In winning it with the fabled 11 men from the greater Glasgow area…look away Saltcoats..

In winning it as the first British team after failures by the “better” English teams had failed..

In winning it fairly by defeating an ultra defensive, rich, multi national Italian team…

Anyway – guess who I’d put as my No 1

Be interesting if 442 did a survey of managers as to who they all thought was the best manager ever.

  2. I’m retired 17 years & never regretted it for one minute.

Obviously not too happy just now between lockdown & the weather but I think the vaccines are a game changer.

I reckon next season the crowds will be back at the fitbaw and with the help of God the Craic will be back and we will party long & hard to make up for lost time.

I retired in August (early I hasten to add). Your words are very reassuring and to be honest I have not regretted my decision and like yourself look to better times ahead. Well said pal!

  4. I was made redundant 12 years ago at 58 – did some partime work until I was 65 – still do volunteering at the foodbank. Always jobs to do at my family’s houses. Just back from fitting an extract fan at my daughter’s.

She’s just returned to work so we’re looking after our grandson every day 🥰.

Help out at my son’s cricket shop from time to time – so keeping busy is key.

  5. Remember to check under your bed before going to sleep tonight, Linda Bauld may be there with her anti Catholic health advice……………… Be very wary.

  6. I’m hoping to retire when the Covid shenanigans come to a close or at least almost anyway.

I certainly don’t expect to be bored.

    Swimming, Cycling, travelling and Celtic.

  7. I love optimism.

When we get back to Paradise, I will savour every moment. The whole match day experience.

I will certainly count my blessings.

    COYBIG.

  8. That 5 1 victory at Tynecastle was so good. Choccy’s hat trick, Tommy’s cool and composed finish plus a fantastic cross by Davie Provan to set up our first.

After the match, a van with Hearts fans in it, came out of a side street just off Gorgie trying to drive through our support walking back to the buses, parked more than a mile from the stadium.

Another incident at Tynecastle where something happened to one of our players with the culprit never being identified.

best have a wee look under your own bed (and say hello to the next door neighbour)

Sorry maybe that was meant to be a joke or at least a wee funny dig?

    I’ll need an explanation.

  11. I actually drove to Celtic Park on saturday, just to see it, was suprised how many people were at the shop and wandering about.

did pull on the aul heart strings right enough.

  12. TIMMY7_NOTED on 17TH NOVEMBER 2020 3:26 PM

I don’t believe our dear leader walks on water.

    Please look objectively.

  13. I retired 18 months ago.

My straight edges are not getting any straighter.

No regret, mind you I worked ’til I was 70.

  14. It transpires that the said pub was asked if a risk assessment was carried out for the Scotland match.

    Environmental health at its finest.

    Be wary, be very wary.

  15. Greenpinata on 17th November 2020 3:29 pm

Beauty is obviously in the eye of the beholder but I believe I am being objective here.

Some of the paranoid nonsense I’ve read here recently where apparently our whole approach to Covid is being played out by the FM in the prism of what is bad for Celtic???? Or even more scary that our Covid policy is sectarian ?

Now come on, if the huns were pitching that we’d be laughing at them.

Those opinions would be at home on FF.

  16. A 4pm kick off on Premier Sports for Greece U21 v Scotland U21. A win for Scotland guarantees qualification for the U21 Finals, something the wee laddies haven’t managed since 1996. A win would put them on the same point as Czech republic but Scotland would win on head to head. A draw probably wouldn’t be enough. Although the 5 best runners up from the 9 groups also qualify, Croatia, just a point behind Scotland, are likely to win their final game away to Lithuania.

    Here we go again…. 😉

    To all retirees

The best thing to do when you retire is to get a part time job ,

I have been retired now for nine years ,I Would go mad without something to do .

    Though present circumstances are different.

    …………………

Since I retired a few years ago ( Early retirement)…I tend to spend my hours away by Drinking Pints Beer in Pubs and chasing down…and chatting UP…Sexy attractive Wummin…solely on a Part time basis you understand, as I refuse to allow any Burd to interfere with my drinking although I am happy to combine both whenever possible…

Is the Aberdeen pubs still open…maybe I should Flit to there for a while… Are the Aberdeen Burds ….Eh…interesting ?

    HH

  18. I was planning to go to slaters and other shops tomorrow for some new suits, shoes, shirts etc…whats the Feckin point of any New Gear when there is no Pub Days/nights o get dressed up for…and show aff my new clobber to any unsuspecting Burds….So slaters and maybe one or two other stores will not be getting any Cash from me for a while methinks…..

    It’s political corectness gone mad.

  21. Would love to see how much the infection rate comes from schools and universities

Seems very odd that these are still open

  22. Has anyone heard about our Norwegian players and Duffy who are in quarantine about them being available for Saturdays game.

When we find out then maybe Timmy7_noted will confirm we are being paranoid.

So far we have been fined and punished for an individual breeching precautions although COVID negative. Had Christie as the only player suspended for Armstrongs COVID positive, Celtic have uniquely purchased 2 testing machines. No praise from Scottish Government unlike Sevco

  23. Slaters and other shops…

On the other hand, if I DID go to Slaters etc BEFORE Friday, I might find them willing to agree to a wee discount here and there, as they will be Closing for at least 3 weeks ?…and they MAY be desperate enough for any customer to spend Cash right now before Friday…

I will need to get my Glesga Barrow Bhoy Heid back on, and try and strike some hard bargaining assaults on the staff…LOL

Coincidentally,17 years for me also and level of regret is the same as well.

Retirement is not the same for everyone .I play golf, cycle, go to the gym, read and watch lectures on You Tube etc. I also clean the house now and again !

Some others go to the pub more often whilst I kept to my normal pub routine.

    Different folks; different strokes .

We are at the mercy of the ‘Track and Trace’ app .

My 16 year old daughter has a friend from School who has tested positive for Covid, they share numerous classes and a common room, the headteacher as informed them that the only people who have to self-Isolate are the ones who have been contacted by the Track and Trace app.

The rest of the close contacts can choose to isolate but they will be marked absent without leave and it could go against them if the Higher exams are cancelled in the future.

….and an equally funny reply :-))))

ernie can come over as a real vinegary sort of guy but he does know his stuff and his dry humour I find quite funny.

  28. Should bite the bullet and send students home now,Level 4 toll 11th December might help, then send students back a short time after that, then another spike.

I agree, we are playing at it , the restrictions are a waste of time and money whilst the Schools stay open.
