New Uefa seeding rules this year mean that teams in Champions League Pot 2 have a higher aggregate coefficient value than teams in Pot 1. So Barcelona (we’re bound to avoid them now they look a little lost), Atletico, PSG, Borussia Dortmund and the Manchester twins. Only Sevilla and Porto would provide some comfort, the latter, in particular.
From Pot 1 we could do worse than our old friends Spartak Moscow (18 coefficient points), although Shakhtar Donetsk, Benfica and Monaco would be decent draws.
As our primary objective is to remain in Europe after Christmas, the real battleground for Celtic is in Pot 3. I’d proverbially bite your hand off for Olympiakos, Anderlecht or Besiktas, even Basel would be acceptable. Prefer to avoid the Italians of Napoli and Roma, as well as Liverpool.
Remember, don’t go booking flights before the final confirmation of dates is concluded.
Hospitality for four on Saturday: meals, bar, Directors’ Box tickets, the lot!!
Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have offered four full hospitality tickets for Saturday’s game against St Johnstone. You and three friends could benefit from a stunning pre-match meal in the Walfrid, halftime refreshments, as well as a complimentary bar before and after the game.
You will also watch the game from the Directors’ Box. In collaboration with this raffle, we are raising money for Mary’s Meals. Over 3,000 children in Malawi and Liberia eat each school day in a kitchen supported by Celtic Quick News readers. You can donate a minimum of £5 here.
To win, email your MyDonate confirmation to me, celticquicknews@gmail.com with the answer to this question IN THE SUBJECT LINE:
How many Champions League qualifying games have Celtic played in the Astana Arena before Tuesday?
Other emails with the correct answer will also be considered. Competition closes at 14:00 THIS AFTERNOON (i.e. minutes away from publication time of this article). You need to be able to collect your tickets in Glasgow on Friday. Please ensure you leave reliable contact information on your email. Good luck!

Pot 2 looks stronger than pot 1
Where has the year gone.?
Lasy year watching the draw live in the boozer with a few gargle blasters, this year still excited, but without the liquid refreshment and still hoping for a favourable draw.
Don’t buy into this group of death p@sh.
On a different topic, which we have previously discussed on here. We don’t want to be alarmist and we definately don’t want to exaggerate the terror threat; but it is real and we must be vigilant.
The sooner we can get rid of this poxy OB act and concentrate on real issues the better and safer we will be.
HH to a favourable draw.
Never mind Celtic shares what’s Lord Livingston doing to my Dixons’ shares – profits warning – get it sorted
Guys – no problem.
The phone calls were extremely brief given that hell would freeze over (or Sevco win the league?) before I would consider selling – basically my shares are a family heirloom and are not for sale.
I do wonder though how these people have got hold of my details? – is the share register widely available?
A got the boot the top hat and the wee dug
After the tension, relief and elation of the qualifying rounds, I’ll probably be feeling anti-UEFA anger after the draw. Five English teams in the draw and the champions of so many countries missing. And Celtic in Pot 4.
Raffle for hospitality tickets for the top of the table clash on Saturday has been drawn, winner has been informed.
It took FOUR draws before we got a correct answer. Honestly!!! Karagandy was four years ago!

Not really, but they have a “Buy” recommendation albeit from only one analyst (Nice colour of green here https://markets.ft.com/data/equities/tearsheet/forecasts?s=CCP:LSE), although the same person is forecasting a price of 110p.
Basically the club is going to make plenty of money so the assets are going up faster than the liabilities and the difference between these two is shareholder equity.
Few shares ever become available. A big percentage of shareholders are fans and if we are not desperate for the money then we hold.
This from Gweedore in a comment made after the Souness saying `Celtic are rubbish article` next to the main article posted by ernie lynch on page i. ( if you follow me !)
” Off course we shouldn’t think that Celtic will derive any sporting advantage from having a football budget that dwarfs all other clubs in Scotland. The idea that more money is some kind of help in professional sport is just plain daft. Isnt it?” Quote of the week from Phil.”

What’s the cut off date for registering players for the group stages…….
1 September 2017 (24.00CET) for all matches from the first match in the group stage up to and including the final.
Scottish transfer window closes at 24:00 Thursday next August 31st
We should deliver any faxes by hand!!
Just in case.
Tim malone
I think you’ll find that he resigned ish:)
News just in from Nyon,Sevco Group
The Rangers
Emmerdale
Coronation St
Eastenders
Albion Rovers have been thrown out of the Scottish Challenge Cup and fined £2,000 for fielding an unregistered player in their win over Spartans.
It means the Lowland League side will instead host Linfield in the second round on 2 September.
Season Ticket holder at Spartans too, but that’s one game I won’t be attending.
Ironic after Spartans thrown out of Scottish Cup in 2011 when striker Keith McLeod signed a new contract in the summer but it was dated only once and the Scottish Football Association want it to be signed twice. No ‘imperfect registration’ argument then ?
After the draw tonight, will we have confirmation of dates and times for fixtures or will that be potentially tomorrow?
Also – 6pm and 8pm kick offs in the CL – thats not this season is it?
HH
Help! I’m confused.
“Emre Can scores 1st brace for Liverpool v Hoffenheim” trumpets the links on newsnow.
Why is it whenever a Celtic player scores a goal via a deflection it’s immediately put down as an og, yet any player bar a Celtic player does likewise he gets the goal and it’s not an og?
Anyone?
Anyone?
Beuller?
Anyone?
I honestly can’t believe they are doing the UCL draw this late in the day…
Aw the delegates will be steamin’!!!
Wee item on the radio re the soon come CL draw .
re- Ideal opponents for Juve / Roma / Napoli . ( have a dig time )
Juve — any city with good flight connections to the south of Italy .
Roma — teams who are likely to wet themselves laughing at Nainggolan’s hair .
Napoli — teams who won’t take advantage of Napoli’s -it must be that time of the month -thing.
TRAD

Just done the fake draw.
Real Madrid.
Man City.
Roma.
Ouch.
Hail Hail
Fingers crossed the rumour about extra stewards at 3.00 tomorrow is true.
Surely has to be Paddy.
Hail Hail
am not disputing the poor man was found dead in his “hoos”.
Merely pointing out the apartment his remains were found.
Now go and start an argument with someone else.
Its what you do……………or is that dooo?
Well? I doubt if I’m looking for an argument when I finish my post with a :)) then again what do I know, calm down tiger :))
I think destiny will prove, and we will draw Liverpool. Brendan would , if I could paraphrase Kevin Keegan, just love to beat them, just love it.
we shall see
Best of luck Celtic and please get a draw which would help us.

Did The Bill no qualify this year? :-)
A computer draw determines the final position of the teams within their group. These positions determine the order of the home and away matches.
NB: Pot numbers do not correspond to position numbers. Factors such as climate, KO times, country clashes for TV etc determine the club position in each group
The following match sequence applies:
1st match day: 2 v 3 ; 4 v 1 4th match day: 1 v 3 ; 4 v 2
2nd match day: 1 v 2 ; 3 v 4 5th match day: 3 v 2 ; 1 v 4
3rd match day: 3 v 1 ; 2 v 4 6th match day: 2 v 1 ; 4 v 3
Final fixture schedule will be released by UEFA after the draw possibly later in the evening
Good advice not to book until after dates are completely confirmed. I booked Copenhagen flights immediately after Celtic confirmed the dates o the website. Only for Celtic then to change the day of the game from the Tuesday to the Wednesday meaning I had to frantically change flights at extra costs.
The Bill is in Liquidation. It may come back as The The Bill.
Expect the worst, hope for the best,
KINGLuBO
Liverpool.?
Watched them last night..Been a while since I last saw them..Dreadful defending. A good team will eat them
Do not book flights too early as a game may have to be moved due to a religious march or something. :-)
Just done the draw,
Chelsea
Dortmund
Olympiacos
Do you get warm balls in the Champions League?
My preferences for the draw is to avoid English and Spanish teams and then have our last game at home, December 5/6. Post Xmas European football could depend on this match.

Said in the last thread I would go for Benfica, Man Utd and Anderlecht. The fun draw predictor came out:
Group A
Benfica
Man Utd
Besiktas
Celtic
Once Benfica went into Group A, I just had a feeling, and couldn’t believe it when Man Utd went in with them. Anderlecht was a 1 in 3 chance when they came out the ‘hat’.
