On Griffiths

1015

Leigh Griffiths problems are significant enough for him to be sent home from the club’s training camp.  While no charges have been made and none may be made, online speculation can jeopardise a successful prosecution.

Whatever you heard happened, this is not the place to repeat hearsay.  Notwithstanding that, it is likely the end of the road for Leigh.

‘In my opinion, it’s pretty far fetched to think Ange was ever going to be able to bring in his own backroom team.’

At most decent sized clubs it would be taken for granted.

    But not at Celtic.

Celtic want a manager who is easy and cheap to hire and to fire, and will all due respect to this guy, that’s what he is.

The board are at it. But hey, faithful through and through.

I just hope the board haven’t caw ‘ ed the feet from under Ange from the outset by lack of signings on the pitch and in the backroom .

    So what if they have?

The season books are sold, money’s in the bank, so that’s it for another year.

  5. Kennedy proved in 10 games he has not got a clue and also doesn’t care about Celtic results

Can’t believe the vitriol on here against two of our current coaching staff (not singling out anyone in particular…just using the above post as sn example).

    Who needs enemies, eh?

Granted, we had an unbelievably shocking season last year. But do we just forget about the successful decade of domination we enjoyed (with Kennedy there as a coach)?

I’m not saying Kennedy is a good or a bad coach. I’m not qualified to judge.

Others on here should admit the same.

Some absolute belters on here posting crazy stuff. Some are even calling for a clear out of ALL the board!

    Seriously?

Ok…let’s have your way and say the whole board resigned last December. Who is left to seek and appoint new board members? Who appoints the new CEO if the whole board are gone?

Jeezo…the lunatics are indeed taking over the CQN asylum.

If there was a new law proposed to limit Internet access to only those with a minimum average IQ, I am reading plenty of support evidence in here lol

Perhaps ‘modernising’ the football operation at the club doesn’t actually mean what we hoped it would mean .

A Celtic team group pic from 1957 which I hadn’t seen before now. How young does Bertie Auld look in that back row ?

    ______

    Cracking photo.

A young Bertie, being different as usual, with arms over player in front. Oh for some of his character in today’s team.

“The failure to bring in even one new coach alongside Ange has immediately ramped the pressure up. Like Griff, it’s an obvious error.”

    —————————

It really isn’t obviously anything yet. All those making a campaign for Ange to have something he odes not want for himself, need to look at your reasoning.

Ange does not have a settled back room staff that he takes with him from job to job. He has had different coaches wherever he was and he used them or got rid. He has the same allowance at CP and has pronounced himself happy.

John Kennedy did what he could with a dispirited defeated squad in his short spell as interim manager. The team started to move the ball forward earlier than they had done under NFL but, of course, after the abject Sevco defeat, everyone swore that there was no difference to be noted.

Ange is happy to have JK and Strachan jnr. He is not agitatiing to change them- only some fans , with no inside knowledge, are doing so, in a desire for some “complete change” as if that is a good thing in itself.

Ange has the power to ask for a change of coach if he determines any are incompetent or getting in his way.

Let him have his own say and do not speak for him. My impressions are he would not like that

    £1.4m for Bayo?

    If true, that’s a result.

Less than we paid for him of course but …. after a couple of turbulent and relatively unproductive years … a decent outcome.

Vakoun – good luck in your future career. I wish you well.

A compulsion to reply but no coherent response to situations and questions that surely must have, at the least, crossed a fair proportion of supporters minds. I have seen each of the points I make included, one way, or, another, in many different posts in the last month, or, two.

I am, like those others, perplexed by a situation where, in twelve months we have gone from leading the pack and forming the agenda, to a position of ‘playing second fiddle’ in all departments.

Apart from the ravages of Covid which have affected every club in Scotland, our financial position as the best placed club in the country should not have changed, and yet we see our only credible rival getting considerably ‘more bang for their buck’ – a buck that we are constantly told they don’t have.

The situations & questions I outline are reasonable at a time when we are just days away from the start of a season which, in my opinion, is far more important materially than its 10iar predecessor.

You appear scornful – if you have a settled view on any of the points, I would love to hear them.

  12. Southgate: “People have tried to invade us and we’ve had the courage to hold that back. You can’t hide that some of the energy in the stadium against Germany was because of that.”

That back four gives me the fear, I would’ve hoped I would never have had to see that with my own eyes, on the tv.

Don’t care what the politburo say.

But who knows they may allay they fears, as it’s only a preseason friendly after all

  16. Saint Stivs, Southgate, doesn’t do irony, and they wonder why the Scottish , the Irish & most of the Globe want to see them gubbed.
