On Griffiths

Leigh Griffiths problems are significant enough for him to be sent home from the club’s training camp.  While no charges have been made and none may be made, online speculation can jeopardise a successful prosecution.

Whatever you heard happened, this is not the place to repeat hearsay.  Notwithstanding that, it is likely the end of the road for Leigh.

  1. I picked Italy from that start and delighted that they won. Felt sorry foe the three boys who missed and knew they would be racially abused. Italy were by far the better team from the second last and most of extra time despite losing their three best players. Apart from the back line, Italy were midgets in comparison to England yet defended well. Just goes to show you don’t need to have a team of giants. Love that wee Verratti and also Chiesa and Insigne.

Back to reality and we still move on glacier like mode on the transfer front. Surely, surely we’ll see some activity this week. Will need to go with what we have for next Wednesday though.

As a Glasgow boy who has lived in London for 44 years – Scotland v England – Im very much Scottish

My family are English so I was saddened by the result last night the England team have galvanised the country during a difficult time, Scotland would be the same (emotion does not stop at Hadrian’s Wall)

I feel for the young boys asked to take penalties enormous pressure

But life moves on – my own emotions were torn to shreds by not winning the ten

I believe its called sport, the joy of winning the depression of defeat

    On to more pressing matters

AP and the swashbuckling Dom seem to be doing a lot of window shopping with no significant purchase (2 Shef Wed boys apart)

Relying on our youth players to get to the CL group stages could end like it did for the young English boys last night

One thing – Celtic have succeeded in managing my expectations for this year – i do not expect the football to match the upbeat talk and messaging from Celtic TV

But regardless our future or my adopted hometown 44 years down here does not dilute my first passion

Celtic are and will always be the only team that matters

Hail Hail my friends and spare a thought for the English – they feel the way we did last year

  3. Many English club supporters boast about the richness and quality of their top league. This year has shown 2 drawbacks to this set up

    1) the billionaire owners can turn it into a franchise and move it whenever they wish and whenever is commercially viable

    2) signing players from all round the globe leaves your national team looking pretty average.

Every opportunity comes with a cost

Well that was the week that was.Black english players getting hounded on social media, english supporters rioting,Italian restaurants attacked by english supporters. The cosy atmosphere that existed all week,as the wall to wall coverage, from the english media, came to an an abrupt end as over paid athletes failed.Credit must be given to the winners, who were the better side, and if truth be told, have saved ‘us’ from stories and tales about the heroics of England’s finest.Well done ITALY.

  5. During extra time, their Poster Boy Jack Grealish was apparently injured by a late Italian foul, which was rather naughty to be honest..BOTH Players got treatment by the Medics etc…the Italian player had to go OFF the Pitch and wait for a recall….meanwhile Poster Jack did NOT go OFF and took up position from Engerlunds free kick….I was just waiting for him to score and for the Italians to go Radio Rental with the Ref ?

I wonder IF VAR would have ordered the free kick to be retaken IF Engerlund HAD scored…with Grealish STILL on the pitch, when he should have been on the sidelines ?

I didnt hear ANY English Pundit/Commentator mention anything about Grealish NOT leaving the field of play and staying on after receiving treatment…when the Italian player was told to get off the pitch….and wait for the Ref to decide when he was allowed to come back on !

    Same old Engerlund…always Cheating.

I hope that Engerlund keep up that old ” Dunkirk Spirit”…prior to every time they get GUBBED !

    CHUMPS !

Not sure about the rules but when Trippier was crossing the ball for the Engurland

goal he had a player overlapping him in a well offside position although

not sure if not intefering with play exists in this tournament

By the way is Boris Johnson still going to announce a

National Holiday for the date of the final

If not why not at least a holiday in Scotland would be

    well celebrated

  8. Southgate is just another CHUMP who has got lucky…Fitba is littered with them.

A bang average player who became a Millionaire…and a bang average manager who became a Multi Millionaire who believes his own over HYPE.

Hes kidding no one with that Beard…as his face is like Shergars Erse…just another Ugly Loyalist Hun Bassa.

In the next few days it will be interesting to see if the vicious Engerlund media turn on him..his subs and tactics from the 2nd half onwards were dumb…at the very least.

    LOL

    Im LOVING It !

    Gareth MUST Stay !

  9. Roberto Mancini to be the next Pope !

Wouldnt that be nice….After all the English were getting ready to give Southgate a Knighthood ?

    LOL.

I’m down in Bowness on Windermere for two weeks, most noticeable thing that springs to mind is the lack of staff. A lot of posters outside pubs etc looking for staff as a consequence of Brexit one barman told me.

Hoping (rather than expecting) some encouraging transfer news this week .

I can’t shake off this old familiar Willo Flood , Stephen Fletcher feeling though .

  12. Never mind a Podium spot, if the counter on the front page is accurate, this is post number 1000.

  13. Southgate says his team handled the additional pressure of playing nearly all their games at home well.

Recent rule change that a player who receives treatment after a yellow card challenge does not need to leave the pitch after treatment

Well done to Italy. Shocking but expected behaviour from the England Sevco fans. The three lads who missed their penalties should be applauded for having the guts to take them not abused, all sounds so familiar and close to home though doesn’t it…

As far as Celtic, what the hell is going on?

I know Celtic have used them in the past when sending floral stuff to funerals.

  18. We all know the crushing feeling of defeat in a final, we experienced it as odds on favourites in the the European cup final in Milan in 1970 and again in Seville years later both after extra time. You could not but feel a little sympathy as the cameras focussed on some of the English youngsters decked out in team colours in tears.

England are a solid team but no more and do not have the extra skills required to win these big tournaments, we already know all the best players in English top grade football are foreign. Scotland had their measure and should have beaten them.

Not surprising that this was the sixth big tournament win for the Italians
