On Griffiths

Leigh Griffiths problems are significant enough for him to be sent home from the club’s training camp.  While no charges have been made and none may be made, online speculation can jeopardise a successful prosecution.

Whatever you heard happened, this is not the place to repeat hearsay.  Notwithstanding that, it is likely the end of the road for Leigh.

  1. Crazy decision by Southgate, to bring on two Subs to take penalties, players who had played little or no part in the Euros up until then

And to have the youngest player take the final one, complete and utter stupidity

And I would not have it any other way

  2. So Ingerlund with 6/7 games at home, easy half of the draw, quarter and semi finals against teams that lost first 2 group games, dodgy semi pen award (that Sir Harry missed), the home fans – and still can’t win … (or beat Scotland )

How sad, what a shame, never mind !!!

  3. Just think, yer knighthood at the feet of an inexperienced 19 year old who hadny even warmed up.

    Southgate lost the plot.

  4. Lol did you notice the Little Englander Anglican BBC changed the Catholics time of scoring the equaliser from 66 mins to 67mins? Anyway, the state of Southgate nominating the penalty kickers epitomised that of a panic merchant, giving out the instructions only to be corrected by his assistant. Giving out the instructions again the Anglicans were looking at each other shaking their heads in disbelief at Southgate’s incompetence in their moment of need.

From the very first game in the Euros, in Rome, it was clear to me that Italy were going to be the team that you would have to beat to win

And so it came to pass

  6. I suspect that most International teams will have worked England out after this … thank god … strong running guys with a couple of really good divers … next World Cup in a very hot country no chance

  7. I stay down here, the people are not all bad, but I am mighty relieved they did not win :)

  8. Tehe ……..Stats. 66% possession for the Catholics tonight. Had it been up to the Anglican BBC surely that would have been changed to 67%

  9. Didn’t understand bringing the two pk takers on with such a short time to go, don’t think they touched the ball before the pks.

I really am at a loss to understand why so many feel the English pundits/commentators are so biased as though the Scottish equivalents are bastions of neutrality.

    ——

Agree 100% – but of course the English commentators get much more practice at it and have honed their sycophancy – our lot live on scraps.

  11. Jorginho man of the match for me.

England fans doing a “Rangers” and rioting all over London, attacking Italian owned restaurants.

SoT’s absence all the more poignant tonight.

    i would agree with that.

  13. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Congratulations to Italy.

Genuinely think the best team in the tournament won.

In terms of aiming for excellence I always think Celtic should try to learn lessons or draw parallels from successful national teams.

    Suggestion for motivating our defence.

    “How bad were you guys?”

“Ciro Immobile scored against you ! ”

    🤭

    Night all.

  14. England, IMO, were far too negative, especially given the firepower they had on the bench. If they had really went for the 2nd goal when they were ahead they might have won. The 2nd half you seen 2 banks of 5 when Italy were up the field.

Not Ange’s cup of tea methinks.

  15. Back to Basics,

I thought Ciro has been p!sh all tourney. He can have no complaints about being subbed. The Italian wide and midfield players have been exceptional.

  16. PETEC

I suspect England’s problem all big strong lads are basically not very good so they need most of the rest of the team to cover them … Qatar in the heat will be too much for their big oafs at the back

  17. !!Bada Bing!! on

Southgate got found out as a coach there,Italy had the midfield from about 25 minutes to 90 minutes, incapable of changing his team to counter it….hanging on for penalties from a long way out

  18. Petec when the outlanders scored my first thought was it was too early.

At half time Mrs TT asked me were the too good for Italy, my response was naw but Italy were careless with the final ball but they had a far better coach and he would sort it out.

Thank you Italy from the Largs brigade.

    Don’t like the England players

    Don’t like the England manger

    Don’t like the English media

    Hate the English fans.

One of my favourite songs, Billy Joel ‘ Scenes from an Italian Restaurant ‘,might have a different vibe in the next 12 hours
