On Griffiths

Leigh Griffiths problems are significant enough for him to be sent home from the club’s training camp.  While no charges have been made and none may be made, online speculation can jeopardise a successful prosecution.

Whatever you heard happened, this is not the place to repeat hearsay.  Notwithstanding that, it is likely the end of the road for Leigh.

  1. The media already being negative about our club and playing staff,Griffin’s being hung out to dry all speculation, not guilty unless proven otherwise,I think it’s about time a lot of Celtic blogs stop feeding the biased media about all thingsCeltic ,they just give ammunition to beat us over the head with a lot offmade up stories, and they play to the Sevco Mob whom I reckon are more likely to buy that Anti Celtic Rag .

I don’t blame the plc for trying to max the fees for Ajer and Eddy. I’d rather we got £20M rather than £15M for Ajer too, even if that means waiting till the last minute of the window.

Where I do have a problem is their apparent decision not to buy until they sell. If they know the money will come there’s no reason not to buy now, when they need to.

Instead we’ll see the same old pish, last minute sales, followed by last minute cheap duds and crap loan deals.

The squad continues to be hollowed out from an already failing base. Brown, Moi, Duffy, Kenny, Laxalt, Frimpong, El Hamed, Bayo, Klimala… Ajer, Eddy, Shved, N’tcham, Griffiths, Christie, Bolingoli to follow. And still no money spent, despite the fees brought in and massive savings in wages? Not to mention 50K season book sales.

The reason is the entire enterprise is run in the financial interests of the biggest shareholder. We’re not fans, we’re donors. And we’re just about to get pumped out the ECL by a Danish team faving failed to lift a finger to avoid it.

All because fat cat Desmond is coining it in anyway.

Just watched a re-run of that game of two halves.

Lots of encouragement on view especially the work rate and shape of the team(s).

Good work by Hendo, Shaw and Montgomery throughout, but shame that Connell and Murray didn’t excel.

Despite those chastising Ntcham on other social media channels, I thought his appetite and work looked better than it has for months; Mikey J too looks to be raring to go. Ange is clearly setting out expectations.

In today’s market, mibby we should be happy with 12+3 mill for Kris.

Hate to see us do a Boyata and miss a fee for a player who ‘wants to break free’.

  4. I’ll stay at home today and watch the Wimbers final, and hopefully both players will bring their “A Game” to the Final and its very entertaining ?

Fair play to the Ladies in yesterdays Final…after a DISMAL 1st Set by the young Polish girl due to nerves etc…she overcame those nerves to win the 2nd set, but lost out to the Young Aussie Girl called Barty in the 3rd set. I dont often watch Wummins Tennis…but there you go !

    LOL.

Those Top Men Tennis players could really show our Footballers how to measure up when it comes to FITNESS….At times I am in awe at the Fitness levels of some of those Tennis guys who are forced to play for over 3-5 HOURS …maybe Celtic should bring some TOP Tennis Coach to get our Bhoys ” SUPER FIT” ?

Where is DD coining it in?

That is the issue — he isn’t lifting any growth bonus / T/O percentage.

Growth / football progress doesn’t interest him.

    He is just into arbitrage.

    He bought at SPL cheap.

He wants to sell at EPL dear.

He seems to think that he will have a better chance if we join with TFOD2.1 in tow.

Therefore we took our foot of the gas to hand them 3 leagues to the 1872 mob.

He was not bothered that we handed a league title to the 2012 mob.

    PL got his bonus.

    Everybody happy.

You must have got lucky — I am still waiting for my e-mail back from the Valley.

Regarding AM — hope he continues to get games — he looked as if he had an appetite for senior football.

The youths have too few players with that attitude — too many look as if they are happy playing in front of two men and a dog.

Is the Colts team idea of playing in the Lowland League all agreed.

What the club / business needs is more competitive football.

Women’s Team / Youths / Reserves / Age Group — get it on and show it on CTV.

Embarrassing that to see the games in Newport the opposition provide the easiest way to view the games.

Half the points no-one moves — just a couple of big arm swipes.

You get 30 seconds to settle down for every point.

Every 5 minutes you get a one minute break for a sit down and have some water.

You only have to control a 10M triangle plus you get a bat to extend your reach.

Tennis was physical exercise for the gentry / aristocracy.

Do you ever see them getting cramp?

Plus AM spent too much time in the gym and was over muscled for good movement.

Tennis — no / we can do better.

Bankiebhoy1, I spent 18 months up in Duntocher, Duntiglennan tae be precise, and knew Dicks, O’Donnell’s, the Goudiehill and the Clover Bar well, I believe a Celtic bus used tae run fae the latter.

We had a larkhaw squad working there and one wet day they wandered doon tae Dicks, the rain went aff and I was dispatched tae get them, they were all hauf oot the bag.

As they were leaving the barman shouted me back, “tell them no tae come back son as they’re all barred, in fat they’re lucky they can stagger out of here”.

Seemingly they had been singing the war tunes. After telling him ok, told him I had family here and when he found out who they were said “your ok son but good luck with that mob”.

    …………………………….

    Mr Tontine……….

The Dunty ( or O’Neils as we called it) was a smashin’ shoppe……….The Goldenhill ( or Goudie) was a useful fallback position when a change of scenery was required. The venue upstairs was the scene of many a party back in the day. Our squad used to venture down to Akrams Nightclub in Dumbarton – but only when transport was assured.

Dick’s bar – I’d imagine was what became The West End Bar ( far end of Duntooch???) If I’m right that pub was bought by Big Aleck Ewing – a Donegal man, great guy, great family ( he was teetotal) I also worked in the pub while I was a student……timmed-up shoppe and always had regular music nights.

If memory serves I think I met the former owner when it was called ” Dicks”…….. I vaguely remember a rather louche Gent with a slightly thatrical air ordering a ” St Clements” – normally such behaviout got yopu barred that establishment!!! I could be wrong but I think thats the fulla who had that bar at one time.

The older I get the more I think I learned behind that bar than I ever did at uni.

The one area of our ‘performance’ that definitely seems to have upped is the volume of brand-generated content the club is producing. To be be expected given Dom’s background in PR and Comms, but mibby Mr McCulloch’s performance review includes some freshly reviewed KPIs.

And if we’re looking for exemplars for athletic excellence, Aussie Rules players run between 12-20km per game compared to fitba at an average of 10kms – Ange will surely have access to the best methods:

  14. Guys,

I am jealous. This England team seems an alright bunch of guys. A very good reflection of our modern multi cultural society.

Their manager is also very hard to dislike.

I totally bought into the ” boogie” when Scotland were playing. I loved the together atmosphere in the pub and beyond. After numerous lockdowns it was a tonic.

I just wish it could have gone on longer.

As a nation Scotland should be proud, strong and magnanimous. Our football rivalry is healthy and well documented, But hatred of people or a race because of Geography is not healthy and is frankly outdated and infantile.

We are better than just being labelled as Anti English.

It reeks of an inferiority complex.

As for boosting the Scottish ” independence ” argument, absolute rubbish.

Maybe some of us need to get out more and live in the present and not the past.

  15. Greenpinata,

Having worked doon in England on numerous occasions now I dinnae harbour any resentment towards the English. What I will say is I really hope it is a cracking game Tonight – Hopefully with a lot of goals.

  16. GREENPINATA,

It is not the football team itself that is the problem. It is the media-driven reaction that is way over the top. The tory politicians have jumped on the bandwagon and fostered their (Dunkirk) spirit and the rest of UK can simply suck it up.

After the semi final betwen England and Denmark the Dutch referee was heavily criticised for awarding England a very dubious penalty. UEFA have taken this matter into account and appointed a DUTCH referee for the final.

Dunkirk was a defeat , but the Dunkirk spirit refers to the evacuation, against all the odds, of 340,000 experienced troops who went on to form the core of the British army for the D Day landings four years later. Without the evacuation the outcome of the war might have been different, and more in line with what Arthur Donaldson had been hoping for.

Hope England get pumped – if only to avoid the incessant superiority and arrogance of their press, and their patronising of ‘smaller’ teams.

I have two brothers who live in England and agree individuals are not the problem – meet some top-notch individuals but the press and media have always been hugely annoying. England football team getting pumped keeps a bit of a lid on that particular issue. If they win, the frenzy will be aking to ‘The Ranjurz’ having ‘won 55’ (except England really will have won).

That said, the anti-black / anti-asian racisim I’ve heard in the local community when visiting my brother – who lives a few miles outside Birmingham – has certainly been on the increase in the past few years – seems very much more out in the open.

Both extraordinary moments in our club’s history, great moments! RIP Charlie Bhoy, por cierto
