Operation Get Lawwell Out

837

When Tony Mowbray was in charge of Celtic the club wrote to the SFA regarding the standard of refereeing in Scotland almost on a weekly basis.  The outcome of this correspondence was not constructive, if anything, some at the Association hardened their stance.

A lot has subsequently happened.

Yesterday’s Sunday Mail referred back to Celtic’s dialogue with the SFA during Mowbray’s tenure, which I found interesting.  Soon after, when a referee was found to have lied to Neil Lennon (and his supervisor), the association were vulnerable.  Wounds opened at that time which have not healed.

The ‘paper suggested Peter Lawwell is “Driven, obsessively controlling, politically statute, manipulative.  A master of the dark arts.  There’s nothing he won’t do to get Celtic what they want.  No-one he won’t attempt to control to get it”.

Quite a character assassination.  I wonder what they’re worried about?

We are also told that our chief exec has “An over-arching influence on every facet of the Scottish game. He could have had a crack at sorting it for everyone.  But no. That wouldn’t have sold any season tickets, would it?”

Those of you who bought a season ticket on the back of Peter Lawwell’s letter must feel the club went to extraordinary lengths to win your business.  The article shared the fantasy many football fans have that Peter Lawwell being on the SFA board means Peter Lawwell controls the SFA.  He doesn’t, but he is a formidable advocate of reform.

So what are they worried about?  From my perspective, pretty much everything.  The old ways were liquidated, we’re living in times with only one Super Power.  The old ways are gone and they are never coming back.

Calls for Peter Lawwell to resign from the SFA board because he “wouldn’t recognise the greater good” are laughable.  Those who interpret subtext will know this reads ‘Lawwell is an animated asker of difficult questions’.

What started five years ago with DVDs arriving at Hampden showing Robbie Keane yards onside has gotten a whole lot more serious, and personal, judging by the sustained attack on our CEO.  If you think this is about Celtic writing a letter about a referee decision a week ago you couldn’t be further from the truth.

Never try to manipulate a master of the dark arts.

This year’s CQN Golf Open will be held on Friday 24 July at Aberdour Golf Club. This is our 11th annual event and looks set to be a cracker once again. We shall be raising funds for one of our nominated charities and there will be a number of fundraising activities both on the day and in the weeks leading up to the event.

Please keep an eye open for details. Cost for the golf day is £80 including the meal at night. There are a limited number of night time places for non-golfers, cost £45.

To apply for a place, please contact cqnopen15@gmx.co.uk

Thank you so much for your reply. I managed a few, not many, games in our 9 in a row era, poverty was rife then. I have no issues with anyone who does not think supporting Celtic is rewarding. As I stated, I worked my butt off to be able to be in this honoured position, and I believe it is an honoured position, so I will make the most of my privilege and support Celtic to the best of my ability. I may be wrong, but are some of these “supporters” who are decrying ST renewal from foreign lands??? If this is so WTF chance do we have. KTF.

It’s a mere three miles away, about an hour on Shanks’ pony.

  9. Scrolling back, I see that Zico has a couple of tests tomorrow, didn’t spot the post about ParkheadcumSalford but see Doc including him in good luck message so I’m assuming he has a test as well. Anyway I too would like to wish both the bhoys the best of luck. The bloody preparation drink is the worst part of it, after that you know nowt till a pretty nurse is asking you to wake up and have a cup of tea & a bit of toast. Believe me you will never eat nicer toast in your life. Ye’ll be fine guys and by Friday all will bother ye will be the ‘tic getting 3 points.

  10. Neganon2

Give me one reason why Celtic should trust guys like you to handle what they might reveal?

Maybe if you trusted them they might reciprocate.

To earn trust you need to encourage it it.

That is give those who fear trusting you the courage to do so.

Trust can go a long way if you give it a chance. It can be still born if it does not exist in the first place.

Scepticism can be healthy absolute mistrust is unhealthy.

Leave a bit of room in trusting or not trusting to be wrong but never be certain of being right either way.

Selective ticket pricing again from SFA, cheap tickets for ICT and Falkirk, I’m all for punters getting a good deal but they would have put the prices up if we’d have got there.

  12. Thanks for the thoughts, lhads. I have been through the procedures before but separately. I was happily surprised to hear from Zico-Matlese Bhoy that the preparation drink was quite nice. I have already bought the lime cordial to try and make it palatable.

Hopefully, I will be in my usual seat on Friday night.

If Rangers are letting ST holders into play off games for nothing, it would suggest that

    1) they are not as skint as suggested

    2) they dont have that many ST holders, so it wont make a huge difference

    3) the game was unbudgetted in their forecasts

    4) they will make up the cash elswehere , with non ST holders paying a premium, or maybe they will bring out another T shirt.

    Or, all four and more

As far as I know CO is not standing for re-election, but he should not be allowed to just quietly “retire” if he is guilty of wrong doing over the issues raised by Res 12.

Celtic should not be party to any deals that allow him to disappear into the sunset with his pension and ahem, EBT.

Much as I’ve grown to hate this word, so often has it been used in reference to the going’s on at Skull Mountain we do need transparency on all of the outcomes of Res 12.

If at the end of the process we end up with a team in blue playing out of Ibrox in the top division and the same blazers in charge of the game, what will have changed? Not a lot.

    BMCUW.

What I was trying to get at is that Celtic could be criticised if they weren’t winning the league since the deid clubs demise, but there have been many times that we have missed out on the treble due to failure in the cups against other teams

Rangers being absent from the league now (or indeed their past presence in the league ) has no bearing on our slip ups in the cup.

Pity the official Celtic FC website used Rangers rather than the accurate description used by the magazine.

They could just have mentioned the semi-final, and left it at that.

Saw an interview with the owner of Palermo .Most of it was devoted to the fabulous Dybala and how much it would take to buy him .Asked about a likely replacement for Dybala , he said he liked the Roma player who was currently on loan at Latina..

Did some digging – a Rome based journo has claimed that the player will either be at Roma next season or he will be sold. ( no more loans ! )
