Our midfield squad shuffle. Leigh, the panto misfit

550

I know what you are thinking, Ewan Henderson looked the part.  Even more so than his brother, Liam, who also left Celtic for a loan spell at Hibs, before moving to Italy.  That laser-precise pass at Tynecastle which set Celtic on their way to an important victory when Neil Lennon picked up the pieces left by Brendan Rodgers pointed to riches ahead.

Unlike many apparent teenage prodigies, Ewan never disappointed, trouble was, he did not play often enough to disappoint.  All we know for sure is that Lennon did not rely on him and after six months at Lennoxtown, Ange Postecoglou has moved him on.

Hibs, managed by Shaun Maloney, who worked with the player as a Celtic youth coach, is a good move.  He has a realistic chance of commanding a regular first team place in an aspirational side.  Celtic released him permanently for little more than an initial loan agreement that will prevent Ewan from facing them for the remainder of this season.

With two midfielders already signed this month, it is no surprise that Ismaila Soro is set to follow Ewan out the door.  For reasons that continue to perplex, MLS clubs continue to swoon around the edges of the Celtic squad, with New York Red Bulls reportedly hoping to add Ismaila to a list of former Celtic misfits that includes Patryk Klimala, Cameron Harper and Lewis Morgan, the latter moving from Inter Miami last month.

Another midfielder on the move is 20-year-old summer recruit from Sheffield Wednesday, Liam Shaw, who will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Motherwell.  Liam was one of the success stories in the win over Real Betis in December.  The move to Fir Park will hopefully give him an opportunity for first team football, it should also give you and me a better chance to assess his potential.

The Dundee pantomime season officially ends this week (oh yes it does) and Dundee are wondering what use they have for our on-loan panto act, Leigh Griffiths.  We are short of striker talent and Ange is still new to Scotland, so may be unfamiliar with how things work.  The panto season is also over in Glasgow, Leigh’s time at Celtic must also be over.

10 sleeps ’til Hibs.

It wasn’t an Aussie Government decision. It was a judicial decision. The Government lost in court.

  2. Great to see Novak winning in OZ .

At least Andy Murray kind-of supported him -unlike Bill Gates 2 mates the creeps Nadal and Federer.

  3. At least hes making a stand against this scam like more and more people are now doing.

Massive rallies across the world at the weekend -big one in Glasgow.

Children in some English schools saying “no more” to masks and restrictions.

And good to see a section of Aberdeen supporters at the Hibs game chanting “You can stick your effing booster up yer a***!”

Hopefully a sign of things to come.

So I had Covid symptoms, cough loss of sense of smell etc, I took a lateral flow test which was positive and I went for a PCR test which was positive and it turns out it’s all a scam ! Wow those guys are good at scams!

  5. Back on the 15th of December, Novak Djokovic had not been vaccinated and would have known that because of this, he’d be refused entry to Australia. So on the 15th December, his defence of the Australian open was over before it began.

Then on the 16 th he tests positive and uses this to get a medical exemption. What a very fortunate man he appears to be.

I see that despite his alleged covid result he still went out and engaged in social events during which he hugged and shook hands with scores of people including children.

Novak Djokovic is not a hero.

  7. The speedy roll-out of the covid vaccination is probably the greatest human achievement of the 21st Century.

Rewind 12 months to January 2021, as the vaccination was in its infancy. Daily positive tests 39,000, daily deaths 1,820.

Now, January 2022, daily positive tests 141,000, daily deaths 97. Source: Guardian newspaper.

The vaccines are not stopping the transmission of the virus but they are clearly greatly reducing the number of people becoming seriously ill or dying from it.

To think that SM was seen as the acceptable face of the right wing / neo con circus that keeps getting elected by locking people up and making various forms of misogyny acceptable.

NJ is coming across as a bit of a walloper — However he is an individual.

They are people with power and they seem unafraid to use it for their own ends.

Total shambles — at least the plight of the medical refugees is now in the public eye.

Just my take on it: Djokovic is in the wrong, especially his behaviour after he tested positive for covid. He put many people at risk by his selfishness.

  11. Aus — this is what happens when you give the thick end of 18th / 19th century villainy a sandpit to play with.

  12. I think I would want to check what the context of the villany was before a whole country is tarred as being somehow the construct of villany.

  13. Given the precarious nature of 18th / early 19th century economics the vast majority of the working class were pulling strokes to survive — only the thick or the unlucky got caught.

You’re assuming that the the positive test result is genuine. If it is, the timing of it was extremely fortuitous, given his wish to enter Australia.

I know this is a subject that goes far beyond football but I’m placing this link on the forum because it may have some relevance to the longstanding legal action against Celtic.

My basic understanding here is that the London High Court have rejected the claims against Man City because they had no corporate responsibility or safe guarding duty towards the victims.

That’s pretty much Celtic’s stance on the Thompsons legal actions. Notwithstanding that this case was in London, it lends considerable weight to Celtic’s legal position.

The character Đ (D with a strike) is known as a dyet and is pronounced like a J in English. The alternative is Dj combination which is widely used in standard English character notation.

Even in English we get Juke/Duke pronunciation as the letters as so close.

My wife Louise laughed that my name is “Dim”. Revenge was obtained when her name was written as “Lousie” in one of the legal documents we had presented to us.

The situation would appear to be slightly more complex than you suggest.

Seems to involve specific dates and specific jobs / responsibilities — when was he employed by MC and when was he just a hanger on with MC contacts.

The case mentioned fell outside of any direct MC employment and was struck down / dismissed / failed — not sure of the exact legal language.
