I know what you are thinking, Ewan Henderson looked the part. Even more so than his brother, Liam, who also left Celtic for a loan spell at Hibs, before moving to Italy. That laser-precise pass at Tynecastle which set Celtic on their way to an important victory when Neil Lennon picked up the pieces left by Brendan Rodgers pointed to riches ahead.
Unlike many apparent teenage prodigies, Ewan never disappointed, trouble was, he did not play often enough to disappoint. All we know for sure is that Lennon did not rely on him and after six months at Lennoxtown, Ange Postecoglou has moved him on.
Hibs, managed by Shaun Maloney, who worked with the player as a Celtic youth coach, is a good move. He has a realistic chance of commanding a regular first team place in an aspirational side. Celtic released him permanently for little more than an initial loan agreement that will prevent Ewan from facing them for the remainder of this season.
With two midfielders already signed this month, it is no surprise that Ismaila Soro is set to follow Ewan out the door. For reasons that continue to perplex, MLS clubs continue to swoon around the edges of the Celtic squad, with New York Red Bulls reportedly hoping to add Ismaila to a list of former Celtic misfits that includes Patryk Klimala, Cameron Harper and Lewis Morgan, the latter moving from Inter Miami last month.
Another midfielder on the move is 20-year-old summer recruit from Sheffield Wednesday, Liam Shaw, who will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Motherwell. Liam was one of the success stories in the win over Real Betis in December. The move to Fir Park will hopefully give him an opportunity for first team football, it should also give you and me a better chance to assess his potential.
The Dundee pantomime season officially ends this week (oh yes it does) and Dundee are wondering what use they have for our on-loan panto act, Leigh Griffiths. We are short of striker talent and Ange is still new to Scotland, so may be unfamiliar with how things work. The panto season is also over in Glasgow, Leigh’s time at Celtic must also be over.
10 sleeps ’til Hibs.

Good morning all from dark, damp Garngad
Looking forward to today to see the Celtic. Any form of Celtic is a good watch for me.

Thrilling end to the 4th Ashes Test with Australia chasing one last wicket in final three overs for victory.
England’s two tail-enders knew runs were irrelevant and managed to see it out for a face-saving draw.
Good to watch.
Now for some sleep.
Morning D66…the b team are playing later (celtictv) …makes me wonder what our A team looks like

On the face of it, a 23 yo play maker with 30 championship appearances for Birmingham looks a promising buy. Certainly looks more of a Celtic signing than Martin Boyle.
He’s an Oz international so if the signing goes ahead, we’re likely to reach the threshold of at least three players on international duty to ask for a postponement of the derby under the existing rules.

When the Everton accounts are published, I suspect it will not be £12M.
INQUITOUSIV, a wee bit late to the party here, but one poster a couple of days ago put up a copy of a tweet from the official Everton account that referred to a figure of £4.5m for Paterson (with add-ons off course). At the time I thought that was a more realistic figure than the crud in our MSM.

Bobby Evans. Much beloved of the Celtic faithful in the 1950’s. A fine player who was a notable Celtic captain. One of the greats.

Which player, in their time at Celtic, would you have liked to see play? Mine is Charlie Tully, por cierto.
PS. Jimmy McGrory is another, por cierto

SAINT STIVS on 9TH JANUARY 2022 10:35 AM
SAINT STIVS, thanks for that. I first started going to Celtic Park as a wee nipper about 1958 so I just remember the flame-haired Bobby Evans (who looked absolutely HUGE to me as he took a shy right in front of me). Did a wee bit of reading on Celtic Wiki and found out that he left us for Chelsea, even if it was only for one season.
Even then I was also impressed by Bertie Peacock who just seemed to run and run everywhere. Maybe a great fit for Ange-ball?
Though Charlie Tully was still with Celtic at that time I can’t remember seeing him in the Hoops, but I did see him playing at Celtic Park in one of those Scottish League/Irish League kind of internationals at that time.

Thanks St Stivs for the photo of Bobby Evans. I was very upset as a young lhad when he went to Chelsea. It was the same years later when Kenny went to Liverpool. Actually saw him play for the reserves the night before at Dunfermline. Could not believe the paper the next morning telling us he had gone to Liverpool. Never liked them since. Glad we beat them on their own ground. Thanks Big John.
My dad took me to see Charlie Tully at Love Street. That was the day he sat on the ball. What a player and what a character.

That is one of my all time favourite Celtic goals.

says who ?
imho, once fit, he will be a key to us winning the league.
Connaire12.
Superb memory to have.i don’t think you were a lone Celt in the Liverpool end,as you’ll note after our first there is a few Celts in the kop, doin what we do when the bhoys Score.
As Tony Rome states👍,the 2nd by bbj it is a lot of Celts favourite goal, was so glad there was a net to stop it,as it would have hurt the speed it was going.
It was an important game,I remember reading on here years later of Martin o Neil’s team talk, which was meant to be legend.
