Our redoubtable former manager

1226

No one on Celtic Quick News ever doubted Gordon Strachan, did they?

It’s been a long 8 years since that dark week but our former manager demonstrated enormous resilience to win three consecutive league titles and twice qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.  He is perfect for the Scotland role, although, to be frank, I didn’t think his squad had last night’s result in them.  Well done to all.

We have a special Father’s Day offer for the Willie Wallace book.  Order between now and Thursday morning and we’ll include a Father’s Day card, complete with your own message. See the big graphic to the right..

You can choose from two cards, see explanation and choices here, one with Tony Watt after scoring against some Spanish lot, the other with Billy McNeill receiving some trophy or other.

The charlottefakes email trail can be easily traced by any Journalist

As Gordon_j pointe out they print kies 99% of the time …why worry about this now.

I will take part in no campaign.

Clearly very few – especially on here – have realised that the authorities dont give two tuppeny ducks what you think. I include Celtic plc in this.

My only hope is that the authorities have been told to back off. If so I hope they have managed to gain some personal guarantees.

In the meantime …. Why would anyone give their hard earned cash to help provide these chancers, proven liars with a lucrative salary.

I have ditched the windbag route and I am firmly ensconced in the financial boycott route …as many may have noticed recently.

Every post I have made about the 5 way agreement has been FLATLY ignored on here. Well over 10 times since Celtic plc used Phil after the boxing day match.

If you want to watch a corrupt competition with Celtic plc obvious compliance then good luck to you.

Personally I think your turning our club into WWF plc.

Boycott at any level you seem fit but if you dont boycott now then please just accept it.

The reel of Old Firm is still very much in the air.

I believe our clubs stance is

Campbell do what you must, dont involve us, we will not interfere. As we have deen so far.

The loss of our only business model is too kuch for them to take. In fact that loss might have to see them getting involved a few hours every week.

    Celts for change badly needed

Barcabhoy, Can the Charlotte Fakes leaks not now be published due to the interest in them? Is there no legal loophole. I frankly don’t believe that this stuff is not in the interests of the common man.

    —————————

I’m not a lawyer, so I can’t provide that answer. I do believe that the BBC are our best hope of getting exposure on these issues. Not because the BBC are the only ones interested in getting the truth out there, but because the BBC legal advice will be weighted more public interest than commercial self protection

The leaks are potentially devastating for some individuals and some people could face criminal charges based on what we have seen so far, if the information provided is genuine and has not been adapted to alter the original content.

Should the email that was leaked last night, suggesting a government official could be bribed to provide confidential government files, turn out to be accurate, then thatis a very serious matter indeed.

Whether anyone took up the offer or not doesn’t matter. If a nutter offers to have someone shot in return for a payment, then that’s a very serious criminal offence. I would have thought that making an offer like that to a lawyer, who didn’t then report it to the authorities , would be a problem for the lawyer as well. Does Lawyer client privilege still apply when the Lawyer is the client ?

  5. The SFA denied myself the opportunity to watch my team in the CL and therefore diminished the product I had paid hundreds of pounds for.

NEIL LENNON last night admitted he would

stay at Celtic for the rest of his career if he

could be guaranteed a crack at the Champions

    League every season.

The Parkhead manager has been linked with

the jobs at Everton, Stoke and Wigan this

month but is adamant that nothing would

tempt him from Glasgow’s East End if he knew

he’d been leading them into Europe’s elite

    competition each term.

But despite last season’s heroics, which led to

a place in the last 16, Celtic have an extra

qualifying hurdle to negotiate this summer

and Lennon knows there are no guarantees

that his team will get to the group stages.

The 41-year-old admits he is ambitious but

    believes that regular Champions League

nights under the floodlights at Parkhead and

around Europe would satisfy his need to prove

    himself at the top level.

He said: “I’d like to stay consistently in the

Champions League. There is a big emotional

element at this club for me, I’ve been

ingrained in it for 13 years.

“It would be a massive wrench for me to go

    elsewhere.

“If you could guarantee me being in the

Champions League every year with Celtic then

I would have no aspirations to go anywhere

    else.

“There would be no better place to be and that

    would satisfy me, absolutely.”

Celtic have three qualifying rounds to get

through and will know their first opponents,

whom they’ll play on July 15 or 16, when the

draw is made on June 24. Lennon knows that

with Rangers still out of the SPL, the need to

be involved in the Champions League is vital

to maintain a strong competitive edge in his

    players.

He said: “The qualifiers are dangerous games

because you don’t know what’s out there.

“The most pressure I’ve felt last season in any

game was Helsingborg because we knew there

was so much riding on it.

“This year the pressure is alleviated a bit

because of what we did last season, but on

the other side the expectation is higher.

“It’s difficult because the coefficient works

against us. We had to play two qualifiers last

year and this season we’ll have to play three.

“They are very fraught because they are

competitive games and a hell of a lot hinges

    on them.

“Getting to the group stages again would be a

huge shot in the arm for our season.

“When Rangers come back, the Scottish game

will get an edge again, but until then we’d like

to be consistently in the Champions League

    groups.”

He described watching Celtic take the lead

against Barcelona in the Catalan capital as a

‘wow’ moment and wants more of that and

the feeling he experienced when his team

defeated the Spanish champions at Parkhead

    later in the campaign.

“You are standing there in the Nou Camp

watching your team and you see your team

take the lead,” he said. “There are 10,000

Celtic fans there on the third tier and you

    score to go one up.

“You look around and go ‘wow, have we just

    done that?

“For the 90 minutes you are engrossed in the

game and then to go and beat them at Celtic

    Park.

    “That exceeded expectation.

“When your team is doing what you want

them to do and you’re getting results from it,

    there’s no better feeling.

“I want to be in management because I love

the game and it’s the next best thing to

    playing.

“I’m in a privileged position because it’s the

only thing I’ve known since probably about

    seven years of age.

“So I know I’m privileged to be the manager of

a football team – and a great football club.

“All this talk of being linked with this, that or

the other – I’m not as blase to think that I

would ever go or be asked to go.

“It’s such a precarious job and I love what I

do. It gives me something to get up in the

morning for and challenge me every day.

“You have bad days, there are stressful days

but you wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Lennon has been linked with a host of players

but believes that having striker Anthony

Stokes available next term will be like having

another new signing – if the Irishman agrees a

    new contract.

Stokes missed the first half of last term but

ended the season in great form and Lennon

believes he can shine in the next campaign for

    club and country.

He added: “He is the quintessential lovable

rogue. He’s had discipline problems but they

were minor problems in terms of promptness

    and stuff like that.

“I’m not big on discipline but I expect players

to respect the rules of the club.

“In fairness to him, there has been a huge

change in his demeanour this season. He’s

always had the talent, he’s got great

movement and is good with both feet.

“He’s developing, he’s 24 now and is coming

into his peak years. I think we’ve got a good

    player on our hands.

“He scored seven goals in 12 games when he

came back from injury and had his best game

in a Celtic shirt at the cup final.

“He’s a big-game player when he puts his

mind to it – a very good finisher and I’d love

to see him play for Ireland.

“He needs to hit the ground running next

season. He’s definitely got the talent to play

    for Ireland.

“What he needs to do is find consistency and

    I’m sure he’ll do it.”

Neil Lennon was no Tony Mowbray he faced the SFA establishment head on and dougie dougie was the result, Neil paid a heavy price, the tabloid media consistently waged a war on Neil portraying him as a snarling, angry, violent individual, Neil and his family suffered as the SFA establishment used their contacts in the MSM to wage war to break Neil Lennon, it is unforgivable what happened to Neil at the hands of the tabloid press, it continues to be a major embarrassment to them professionally and personally as they continue to ignore what is happening at Sevco and the SFA, their sales continue to decline, i will personally be happy to see their demise

The “you are Sevco, that’s what we are saying” tape was published by The Sun. That was the end of Green as Rangers CEO. There was no conspiracy of silence. Alex Thomson as just tweeted the concerns for the media over Charlotte Fakes is hacking. Not anything else.

That supports my earlier posts from today, regarding the Media’s difficulties. What it won’t stop however is any Police action. The Police are obligated to investigate evidence of a crime, and I doubt will have any issues over how the evidence was obtained. The exception might be entrapment with Police involvement , although that looks highly unlikely here.

THIS CESSPIT REALLY NEEDS CLOSING DOWN…..THIS IS CORSICA’S REVELATIONS ON SALLY’S IDIAO WHITE WATER RAFTING TRIP FOR CHARITY….THIS CLUB IS ROTTEN TO IT’S VERY FOUNDATIONS…

Is Ally up s**t creek without a paddle?

Just another quick post to follow up some previous twitter comments.

Ally McCoist has embarked upon a £10k fundraising campaign for the Rangers Charity Foundation. Good stuff!

He is aiming to achieve this by navigating some white water rapids in Idaho (the River Salmon) with a team of Rangers Charity Foundation supporters.

My interest in this was piqued a couple of weeks ago when I noticed that he had only raised £219. I therefore raised awareness of the event in my blog and subsequently on twitter (I am not claiming credit here for now getting him to the £8,000 he has currently raised).

What I found particularly strange was that the target seemed so low. Mr McCoist is a wealthy man through his footballing and media endeavours as are many of his associates, friends and colleagues. Indeed, I would have anticipated a target of £100,000 to be more appropriate especially when one considers the costs involved in this wort of thing. I decided therefore to keep an eye on this.

My curiosity was further raised by a tweet from Ally McCoist’s son on Thursday, 22 May in which he stated that the airline had given away their business class seats because they were late. Business class seats on a fundraising trip? Hmmm…

So I have followed the redoubtable Mr McCoist junior and it transpires that he spent 3 days in New York City in a hotel overlooking Times Square. Then he flew out to Denver before catching a connecting flight to Boise, Idaho and then another connection to Salmon, Idaho. Following the rafting, Mr McCoist junior has helpfully informed us that he will be in San Francisco afterwards although it is unclear for how long or if this is part of the charity programme or, em, personal business.

A wee friend in the travel agency business did a bit of research for me and priced the flights only package at £4,500. A hotel in New York overlooking Times Square would set you back about £300 per night. So that’s at least £5,000.

On top of this, of course, one has to add the cost of the white water rafting. I am reliably informed that the RCF party are participating in a five day experience costing £1,500. So we’ve now got a running total of £6,500 per head.

Yes folks, Ally McCoist has gone all the way to America to raise £1,500. If Mr McCoist is indeed employed on an annual salary of £750,000 as rumoured that 1/500 of his annual salary or about half-a-day; not quite a tithe, eh?

Anyway, I digress. Eagle-eyed readers will have spotted that I mention both Ally McCoist and his son. They may also have spotted that I mentioned that Mr McCoist is leading a team.

Now, I could be mistaken here but I’ve trawled (yes, it is an obsession) Just Giving and I cannot find a single entry for Ally’s Idaho Challenge other than that under Ally’s own name. There is no account in his son’s name and there is no other account specific to Idaho.

That’s very strange…I mean where are the funds being raised by other rafters? You don’t think they could all be in one Just Giving account, do you? But, but, but, but that would mean that the charity is now paying everyone to take a holiday at its expense! Surely not?

Maybe those nice, responsive people at the Rangers Press Office or the Rangers Charity Foundation itself can reply and let me know (they’ve got the email address)?

If they do decide to respond perhaps they could also let me know how they plan to ensure that the insurance policy they’ve obviously taken out to protect the rafters is legally binding if it hasn’t actually been legally executed by the board of trustees?

It’s a matter of regret that the mods of TSFM, which is a multi fan forum, decide to delete posts which are neither defamatory or use offensive language. They do so on the basis that they and they alone will decide what you can write about.

When I post , it takes time and a fair bit of thought . I’m not alone in that , there are many excellent posters on here who also post on TSFM , who run the risk of wasting their time and effort in contributing to a debate on TSFM. The Mods there are every bit as bad as a paid for PR firm, when it comes to censorship.

I decided to stop contributing there as I wasn’t prepared to submit to censorship on work which was neither defamatory or offensive in language. I hope the others who contribute there do not have their time and effort wasted by a Mod with a control issue.

I agree … You have to be buttoned up the back and have lived in an isolationisme tank for 20 years if this is a confirming experience for anyone.

Lets not forget Craig Whytes motivations; Greed and avoiding becoming the patsy.

This is the newspaper which was frightened off from serialising Phil Mac’s Downfall, taking part on whomever’s game plan by rubbishing ole Chuckles after he had got the share issue through and sold the season tickets is by no means proof of no conspiracy to silence, its the exact opposite, maybe i will be made to look foolish by daily exposes by the Sun using all of Charlottes material, then again maybe not

As for criminal prosecutions i will wait and see
