Partnering Kelvin Wilson

704

After a couple of days away from the computer I caught up with the Ben Nevis Huddle photographs, magnificent achievement to everyone involved.  Our 1254125 project is in good hands.  I’d no idea there would be snow at the top of the mountain in June.

Have you bought your ticket for the Lions Roar event at the Kerrydale Suite on Friday evening.  It will be a great opportunity to watch the Lisbon game in the company of the Lions and enjoy a Question and Answer session afterwards.  There will also be a chance to get your picture taken, so get along.

Accurate news broke today that Celtic are in the market for a central defender.  We are not short of cover in this area of the team but no one has made an irrefutable claim for a place to partner Kelvin Wilson.

As we have often said, successful defending can only be done by a unit, not an individual, but unsuccessful defending by be achieved by anyone.  As ever, let’s hope Neil gets his first choice.

If you are still to renew your season ticket sign up for 1254125 at the same time – it’s every bit as important a part of being a Celtic fan as watching football.  If you’ve already renewed, get back and register.

You can buy Willie Wallace’ autobiography below:

    From TSFM

I think everyone knows by now the vital importance of CL money to Rangers survival in 2011. What is interesting is that this point was put to HMRC in July by Grier in terms of justifying spending money on players rather than paying the tax due.

HMRC obviously saw this importance, going as far as to ask for an update after the forthcoming CL game. (Rangers were 0-1 down after the first leg at home on 26th July. They drew 1-1 on 3rd August to exit CL..

It is clear that no agreement of any kind existed when the licence was granted after being submitted to UEFA by 31st May under Article 50.

It is not clear what UEFA were told in July by SFA (or in turn what they told by Rangers) for UEFA to give verbal assurances to SFA that the licence would not be withdrawn under Article 66. This process would take place during July/August. It looks like the justification used was “ongoing discussions” but those were not about disputing the bill that was accepted, they were about agreeing terms to pay and no such agreement was ever reached.

There is no record either of the £500k payment towards the tax bill being made, the reporting of which first emerged in September and was taken as a fact by reporters of the issue thereafter.

It is hard not to conclude that all parties saw an advantage to themselves of Rangers getting CL money. It would have kept the club going, satisfying Rangers and the SFA and SPL at that time and it would have paid the wee tax bill satisfying HMRC.

The point though is that Rangers were only in a position to get at the CL money because of the tax schemes that everyone except LNS thinks improved their chances of winning titles not to mention the accumulated debt that UEFA themselves were starting to put the shackles on with the introduction of FFP.

The Carslberg level irony is that the backoffice unsporting skullduggery to put the club in that postion in the first place was undone by sporting merit on the field of play.

only managed to dip in for brief moments over the weekend, busy busy, but now catching up on last nights stories ( The McGrory, one, and Tommy Devlins sleepover at Celtic Park are wonderful imagineering).

and then Charliebhoys from the heart memories his father,

making me feel all very Celtic about things.

    ——————–

yesterday dropping Mrs H , mother in law and daughter at Saint Enochs ……..

mrs H “what you going to do ?”

me “em, swing buy Glasgow Green and see if there is any games on …………..”

mrs H “you said fitba was finished ”

me ” och i will just wander about for a while ”

mrs H ” your gonny go to Celtic Park aint you ………………..

so, around 3pm, there i was in the car park, I dont know if its sad, but I like to get along to the park every close season, just to see whats going on. Nice day, decided to take a look around, very very busy , fathers day events in the lounges, the shop packed out, quite a few tourists in, american voices, german students, busy busy.

In years gone bye, i recall being the only person there, place locked up, taking a rest.

Now its a hive of activity, you can see what i think is a relaid pitch, through the big gates , a flock of pigeons on the grass. The noise of workers shouting, high up on the roof I think, dare i say it, in the middle of June

“there is a buzz about the place”

And then there are the statues, and the Tommy Burns plaque, adorned by a solitary scarf and picture, cant help but feel proud and humbled at the same time, a wee lump in my throat thinking of great goals, and that time on the pitch at hampden, “there and allways there”

Jimmy had some flowers at his feet, a family are lifing a little curly haired hooped toddler up to share the plinth with Mr Stein, Brother Walfrid, Andrew, sitting in serenity, his area is fenced off as new paving is put down, i read the names, surely many would be the same as the Marist Brother new himself. A Corrigan perhaps, and a Devlin for sure.

I like to look around, think about what used to be here, map it on in my own head, the railway line which divided celtic end from main stand, the giant wall at the other side, the pools office, the president at the door, and that wee hatch inside, a glimpse of the Thomson Memorial , the orange seats !.

The school, och, well, time to move on.

I wonder to myself, when it was first built was the east end truelly the edge of the city ? From the Gorbals to Garngard to the Calton , How were quarter of a million people crammed into a few square miles.

What visionaries those early celtic men were, those who had the ideas, Mr Glass drive, and the irish men and woman, who made not one, but two, Celtic Parks.

If Andrew Kerins walked again with Tommy Devlin today , would he be amazed ? or not suprised at all, that once given the chance, the descendants of those people fed , would nowadays be climbing ben nevis in their hundreds and feeding kids the other side of the world.

Like I said, fathers day yesterday, Brother Walfrid, makes me feel all very Celtic about everything.

    Keep it Lit.

We know skulduggery was in play. It would now appear we may have evidence to support our “paranoia”.

    By Chris McLaughlin

Senior Football Reporter, BBC Scotland Celtic are stepping up their efforts to sign a central defender and have turned their attentions to Cedric Mongongu, who plays at French Ligue 1 club Evian.

The 23-year-old former Monaco player has 10 caps for the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Scottish champions are also interested in Virgil van Dijk, a Netherlands Under-21 international.

The 21-year-old moved to Groningen from Willem II in 2011 and is under contract for two more years.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is searching for a new centre-half, with Thomas Rogne moving on, Rami Gershon’s loan expiring and Efe Ambrose missing the start of the season because of his involvement in the Confederations Cup with Nigeria.

The draw for the opening Champions League qualifier will be made on 24 June, with Celtic’s first match scheduled for 19-20 July.

You have been chasing after the unaccountable SFA pretty much single handly egged on I’m sure you told us, by club reps ? Correct me if I’m mistaken.

    ===========================

Indeed you are. I wish I had got that kind of encouragement but they were unsighted on my pursuit.

I’ve chased it because I thought I/we were lied to and treated like mugs and that such folk who mislead should not be trusted to run our game.

I now know having read the CF stuff listed that we were lied to and the rules were broken not only to grant a kicence but to retain it and then avoid asking for financial information that would have shown how bust Rangers were.

I can understand why it was done and that those doing it thought it was the right thing for our game and if they would only come out and say that I could start to change my attitude.

I’m not sure where I gave the impression of being encouraged but this issue never came up before now and I wish I had had some encouragement.

Nope I just resent being treated like a fool. Who does’nt?

I was a bit taken aback by your post but I understand it now. No probs.

  23. Fed up with the SFA and all who work within

To think they are still running our game after their behaviour over the last twelve months ….utterly depressing

  24. Auldheid

Who is going to expose them ?????

All the relevant info is there, they, the sfa are imo, part of a major corporate fraud, the huns are deed, so they are off the hook, they have never been on the hook mind you.

So who is going to make a name for themselfs ?

All this bollix about not disturbing your enemy when the are hanging themselfs, is just that. bollix, accelerate their demise, expose the corruption.

I would wager in any other business, the party who had had millions defrauded from the would be doing something about it.

I understand that as a club, the suits are reluctant to go down the legal route, and quite rightly so, it would only cost us…..but can we not ask the question, go public with the fraud, the rest will take care of itself, no need for the club to get involved, the media will have no choice if we ask the initial question.

So why are they staying silent, what is their goal ?

I reckon it’s all about the bigot pound…….and I would be willing to stake a fair wedge on that….and that will make this Tim unhappy, as it will many others.

Someone somewhere has to step up, and do the right thing.

Thanks for all the good wishes after my positive result from the bone scan last week and thanks to Summa for passing on my message.

I still have CT and MRI scans to come but the bone scan was the big one and the greatest worry. To get the all-clear was a massive boost and I cannot thank you good people of CQN enough for your thoughts and prayers. I am not quite out of the woods yet but I can see the distant moonbeams.

After my bone scan last Thursday morning Tracey – my better half – took me to Gold Coast airport and a few hours later we were on a beautiful secluded beach in far north Tropical Queensland, where there is no such thing as winter. It was so peaceful and I spent many an hour fishing and sailing. It’s a wonderful way to meditate and contemplate one’s life and re-assess one’s values.

I only got back last night and only now getting the chance to thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
