Partnering Kelvin Wilson

704

After a couple of days away from the computer I caught up with the Ben Nevis Huddle photographs, magnificent achievement to everyone involved.  Our 1254125 project is in good hands.  I’d no idea there would be snow at the top of the mountain in June.

Have you bought your ticket for the Lions Roar event at the Kerrydale Suite on Friday evening.  It will be a great opportunity to watch the Lisbon game in the company of the Lions and enjoy a Question and Answer session afterwards.  There will also be a chance to get your picture taken, so get along.

Accurate news broke today that Celtic are in the market for a central defender.  We are not short of cover in this area of the team but no one has made an irrefutable claim for a place to partner Kelvin Wilson.

As we have often said, successful defending can only be done by a unit, not an individual, but unsuccessful defending by be achieved by anyone.  As ever, let’s hope Neil gets his first choice.

If you are still to renew your season ticket sign up for 1254125 at the same time – it’s every bit as important a part of being a Celtic fan as watching football.  If you’ve already renewed, get back and register.

You can buy Willie Wallace’ autobiography below:

T&T, I haven’t bothered with flat horses in quite a while and am not sure what the fancies are this year for the big races. I’m gonna renew my interest today and since I can’t be bothered going through the form, I’m gonna follow your tips for Ascot.I’m sure there as good as what I’d get in today’s Irish Times or Irish Indo. Weather is beautiful here in Dublin today so hoping the gee gees can make it an even nicer day :-)

  4. So quick question. If we sell hooper , who is our only goal scoring forward. Do we:-

    A) only use a part if that transfer money and sign a promising player and continue on our policy of buying and trying to develop

    B) use all of hoppers transfer cash to sigh on proven goal scorer

If Celtic get 6 million plus for Hooper

They could pick up a decent goalscorer for half that price. I’m sure JP and the scouts would be made aware if Hooper was likely to go and have a similar replacement lined up.

Then again might just blow the lot on Charlie Austin.

just booked the hols yesterday – away 2 weeks today wooohooo! – but downside is no, yes NO, bets at all this week.

Have very happy memories of RA too.

First ever placepot i bet was RA 1990. In fact it was same day as Scotland v Brazil in Stadio Delle Alpi in World Cup (yep the one where that wee judas rat missed a sitter in the last 2 mins).

Was down in Manchester for a few days staying at my mate’s brothers place. Didnt know what i was doing at all – only bet i ever placed back then was in the National, well I was a student at that time! – and had to ask what to do. The horses i chose basically had names i liked or the jockeys silks were combinations of Green-and-White. So did a straight £1 on 1 horse per race for the 6 races. My mate and his bro had a wee chuckle to themselves at my “naivety”.

They weren’t laughing so much when i picked up £306.20 the next day at Ladbrokes in Sale ;-)

A small fortune back then, especially to a poor student!

I did buy them a beer though :-)

Enjoy and good luck today lads.

  19. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan supports Kano 1000 on

    Good Morning.

I followed the “debate” between Auldheid and Canamalar on these pages with some interest last night.

For those who have not read back C started out ( by his own admission somewhat harshly ) by saying that Audlheid’s indefatigable pursuit of the SFA over licensing and regulatory issues had somehow detracted or distracted proper criticism of the Celtic PLC board who had questions to answer over such things as the Steven Fletcher affair.

While I am not really going to go into the Fletcher non signing — I have grave doubts about him being worth anything like £15M– I do want to comment on Auldheid’s relentless highlighting of rule breaches by RFC and the failure of the SFA to properly administer its own rules.

Auldheid and I had a long LONG chat outside Celtic Park fully two seasons ago where we both agreed that the absolute KEY in the forthcoming Rangers issue was the granting and obtaining of a licence to play football– both domestic licence and UEFA licence.

At the time, the MSM were all reporting that IF the big tax case went against Rangers then they would go into Administration– but they refused to even contemplate the notion of absolute insolvency– basically Liquidation.

For my part I stressed that I could see no way out of Admin if the big tax case went against them– that was totally impossible. As a consequence I had started to look at the licence situation because from experience I knew that you can have the premises to trace, the staff to trade, even the money to trade but if you had no licence then you were as good as a dead business.

Having exchanged some e-mails, Pat ( Auldheid ) and I blethered on about the regulations and precise provisions that affected both domestic and UEFA licences and since then Auldheid has become an absolute expert on the provisions and rules both as they stood then and as they have been amended since.

The detail is incredibly complex as you are dealing with the regs of several different bodies– SFA, SPL, UEFA– and so on — and I know that he has compared the rules of other associations as well.

It is abundantly clear between Auldheid’s research, the public pronouncements of those in authority and the Charlotte leaks that we are dealing with complete and utter manipulation and breaking of the rules on a repeated basis…. by the SFA!!!

The Charlotte leaks, for me at least, lack focus.

I have no doubt there is a huge amount of info but I get the feeling that the whistleblower does not follow each thread of info through all the way beyond the information leaked by herself/himself etc.

It is also annoying that no one in the MSM can or will chase this up and make enquiries of the powers that be.

    To take an example:

Campbell Ogilvie has publicly reaffirmed what his role was whilst at Rangers setting out dates in which he was in charge of player registrations and dates when he was involved in player contracts. He was company secretary and as such a full legal officer of the company and bears the responsibility of an officer of the company.

He has also accepted that he was aware of the EBT scheme but unaware of any possibility of inadvertent rule breaking so far as registrations were concerned.

Further, he states that he has nothing to hide but adds that there is no situation arising here which might place him in a position of conflict with his SFA role and so on.

    All well and good.

Except that there is clear conflict and as a result of the Charlotte leaks that conflict is now abundantly clear.

First of all Lets start chronologically with Charlotte’s leaking of the side letters in the case of Flo, and De Boer.

While these are not signed by Ogilvie, they are issued at a time when Ogilvie was in charge of the registration of contracts.

Accordingly, if it is the case that they were not part of the player registration with the SFA

( and they weren’t ) then clearly questions should be asked of the person in charge of ensuring such a failure did not occur.

    That person is Campbell Ogilvie.

Next– according to Lord Nimmo Smith there was a failure to properly register players. LNS says that this was a perceived failure, a failure that broke the rules for which the club should be fined, but perhaps not a deliberate failure. In other words there was a degree of negligence at the very least ( deliberate failure was not proven in his eyes ).

Taking that at face value– then one of the persons who failed and who were negligent for ensuring proper registration…… was Campbell Ogilvie.

However, if we go further– at one point certain people who were responsible for compliance etc throughout the whole EBT affair simply denied that any side letters existed at all. In short they lied.

Campbell Ogilvie has stated that he was unaware of the mechanisms of players EBT’s and was unaware that there were side letters. In other words, when he was given the paperwork to register with the SFA he was either lied to by officials within his own club or he was lied to by way of omission. Either way, that then makes Campbell Ogilvie a material witness in any SFA investigation into these matters with his evidence as to

what he registered in good faith compared to what the truth was being crucial.

Further, as someone who at certain times had input into both contracts and registrations, he should be asked to comment on the contracts and side letters of De Boer, Flo and indeed Craig Moore.

The Charlotte leaks show quite clearly that the side letters set out undertakings to fund the EBT’s as a result of the contractual relationship with the players concerned– which of course is illegal.

However, those undertakings and obligations appear not to have been taken by the PLC but at all times by “The Club” — with the registrations submitted by the same Campbell Ogilvie to the SFA on behalf of the registering body– namely ” The Club”.

Duff and Phelps repeatedly defined the club as including the PLC — remember that their reports etc were all sent to the court as part of the Admin process– and Campbell Ogilvie was an officer of that company until the day of his resignation from office.

The PLC is in liquidation and clearly has no connection with the SFA today– however there is plenty to suggest that some view ” The Club” as still being an SFA participant and Auldheid can explain clearly what steps Sevco Scotland Ltd had to go through to gain any form of membership and any licence to play football.

At the same time, we are told that there was a five way agreement which included an undertaking by the Newco to make good footballing debts– such as those debts due to other football clubs.

No doubt, payment of a players wages must rank as a footballing debt– I am sure Fraser Wishart would agree — as would an agreement by ” The Club” to indemnify and make good any taxes that are due on any payments to a player– after all that is another key part of the registration process– namely that the wages and taxes on the wages are paid within timelimits– as without these being paid a club would be in breach of the requirements that need to be met in order to get a licence to play.

Again, any club’s understanding of that rule– or indeed a club’s lack of understanding of the meaning of any such rule would be a key issue– and who better to explain what the club’s take on player and contract registration than the guy in charge— Campbell Ogilive.

If it is really the case that one of the leading clubs in Scotland completely maladministered the registration process due to lack of understanding of the effect and intention of the rules then surely the person in charge at the club must be due criticism — unless of course they were lied to by their fellow executives– such a person as Campbell Ogilvie.

Of course all this is happening at a time when there is real disquiet about the actings of Craig Whyte and his decision not to pay the small tax bill at all. Yet there appears to have been correspondence suggesting that the tax bill at the time was under appeal, being paid by agreement and so on — only for this to be refuted by HMRC.

Yet even after Whyte has been banned sine die he appears to have had dinner with amongst others– Campbell Ogilvie– the guy who was entrusted with the registration process on behalf of Rangers at the relevant time.

In short, at different times Campbell Ogilvie may have acted for a club, a PLC if that is different to a club, and the SFA all in relation to the same issue… yet does not see himself in any type of conflicted position.

    Now– back to Auldheid.

In order to obtain and maintain a UEFA licence certain docs and assurances have to have been given to theSFA within strict time limits to clear UEFA licensing.

The 2011 licence was crucial to Rangers PLC and questions were being asked about the conduct and the liability of that company for a period of time when Campbell Ogilvie was an officer.

As part of the UEFA process there has to be an AUDIT by someone within the SFA who should have access to all of the relevant documentation– including the docs revealed by Charlotte.

If the Auditor is doing his job he will have notes showing that the contracts revealed by Charlotte did not form part of the documentation which eh was shown in support of the gaining of a licence– and he will have a note as to who he liased with in relation to compliance– most probably the guy in charge of registrations at the time of the contracts( Campbell Ogilive ) and at the time of the 2011 submissions ( Andrew Dickson ) who at the time of the contracts worked for…… Campbell Ogilvie!!!

Chasing down the detail of the registrations, the rules applicable at the time, the method for registering players, gaining a licence at the time and the entire correspondence surrounding the 2011 licence– ( don’t for get Alistair Johnston’s comments where he says a licence just arrived in the post to his surprise ) is just one area to focus on as a result of the Charlotte leaks…. there are many more.

Auldheid asks and asks and asks… and the more no one gives him a straight answer the more the whole thing smells and smells and smells…… badly!

Been over 8 years since we signed a top quality goal scorer

    BBJ

With zero goal scoring forwards if hooper leaves, can we afford to wait another 8 years

Our signing policy has indeed been excellent in every position except for goal scorers. Goal scores cost a premium. Chance are we won’t get one for 3m. More chance if entire hooper money goes on this premium position. We can afford it :)

I am assuming the MSSM won`t be using it (it does, after all , show Celtic supporters in a good light) so I would suggest that as many CQNers as possible email it to as many football friends as possible to show a) The kind of fans we have and b) How our exemplary behaviour is ignored by the MSSM.

Then again if he is holding out for more money he may be left waiting!
