  1. Nobody knows the background to Brendan’s decision regarding Boyata, but he may be sufficiently worried enough about our central defence for this up and coming EL game to make a compromise. The players may have been consulted about this, we don’t know. Anyhoos use him, abuse him (fans) then sell him. Unfortunately he’s the only player who looks like and is capable of scoring from a corner.

  2. prestonpans bhoys on

The return of the Boyata? So what could have happened over the last few weeks. Was he promised a release for any decent offer post WC. Did he think a decent WC would raise a good price and acceptable to the board. Was Brendan then pished off at the lack of Lawwell transfer activity and blocked it. Did the bold Boyata then throw the toys oot the pram. Now post mad English market closed Brendan knows a more modest price will be offered so may as well play him. Who knows Poirot may?

  3. Bad defending! Napoli centre halves deary dear!.

OH and if boyatas agent turns up at lennoxtoon again, set the fecking alsatians oan the fecker!!.

  5. Blaming Hendry for all our problems is unfair.

Blaming Boyata for some is justified.

    Football is a team sport.

Hendry could have done ensive better at their goal but so could Ajer,Brown and Nt’cham.

I feel most of our problems stem from an unbalanced and purely implemented midfield.

Nt’cham is a great linkman but has no defensive positional sense.

Rogic has some great creative moments but not enough and offers no defensive help.

Brown does not look fit and he is left with to much work to do for one guy.

McGregor has great attacking ability but he does not seem to have a defined role.

The above leaves us with vulnerability in the most dangerous part of the field

Our wide men Sinclair and JF are inconsistent and only JF tracks back.

To many of our central players are in no mans land due to our poor positioning and system.

They neither get forward often enough to support our forwards or hold position enough in the defensive zone.

The gaps between defense, midfield and forwards is to large leaving acres of space for opponents to exploit.

Either the coach is trying to make us a cohesive unit and the players not following instruction or the system and personnel is flawed and needs amending?

Young Hendry may not be Beckenbauer but being held accountable for the collective failing of coaches and other players is ridiculous.

  7. I think the only way I would be in a forgiving mood with Boyata, if Brendan is determined to keep him, would be if he sacked his agent. And publicly admitted his head had been turned by him.

Having said that, I would still rather sell him. we need better.

  8. Jack Hendry is a 23 year old who had played 57 matches in the lower leagues of England and Scotland prior to signing for Celtic. The decision to play jack is the managers. Give the boy a chance.

  9. Gerryfaethebrig on

some of the assaults and they are assaults on our captain in the last 12 months in the Spl have been ridiculous …. does it need Broony to get a career threatening injury before the refs & thugs are taken to task

Scott knew that Craig the cheat hun with a whistle saw that today, I understand Brendan opening the door for Boyata whether it’s too enhance the team or enhance the price of an asset that’s on its way out but I would prefer a comment on Broony getting tackled on a regular basis that are career threatening

Or does Broony bring it on himself ?

    Rhetorical question

  10. Regardless of what happens, in the future we should never deal with that agent ever again, directly or indirectly. If he ever comes to us with a player, hunt him. He is poisonous.

  11. Interesting to note the different volume of posts on cqn after we win today compared to when we lost on Tuesday. Says a lot about us as Celtic supporters.

  12. GFTB, Broony does not bring these assaults on himself, never in a hundred years. He is made out to be a lot worse than he is by the media so they can ‘even things up’ with many thugs at other clubs. Look at what happened after the Hearts game. Just so they could let Naismith off the hook.

  13. Stairheedrammy on

I guess Brendan is being pragmatic in hinting he may play Boyata on Thursday. With only inexperienced and off form CH’s available and little likelihood of getting in a suitable replacement for such a big game, Boyata may well be needed, no matter how distasteful that is for many of us.

A reasonable win today with a partially second string getting some game time. We took the foot off the gas and paid for it, but upped 2 gears for 10 minutes and blew the jags out of the water. There was only going to be one winner, no matter what the BEEB says.

That’s the first thing I look at when we don’t win :-)

    Jimthetim 8.53pm

I know it’s not Broony he is actually got a tremendous record as a combative midfielder very rarely suspended although my wee mate Neymar sucked him in in night :-)

Not sure I have noticed more since Leveins ridiculous comments about our captain but some of the tackles have been both sinister & nasty

  15. Gordon, that game today gave us a lot to talk about. I was pleased with IZZY, Bain, Gamboa for instance. Decent individual performances from others if not perfect – Sinclair, Griffiths, Moussa, Forrest, Johnston. It was not all doom and gloom.

Plus, it was Brendan who spoke about the Boyata re-introduction.

  16. Thanks for all the Birthday wishes today Bhoys and Ghirls, glad your team one…

    Good night and God Bless…

    Until we meet again…

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

  17. Jim The boy Storer’s assault on our captain courageous today was one of the most deliberate attempts to maim a player I have ever seen. It was beyond shocking. The lad has a history and clearly has issues which should prevent him playing professional football. However that is no where near the worst part of this story. Scotland’s most experienced referee Craig Thomson was a matter of inches away and had a clear view of the assault. Thomson is an absolute disgrace in his failure to protect players. He should be dismissed now before its to late. Hh

  18. Gordon, you know what I laughed at? That PT player who had the dirty tackle on Ajer, he got a yellow card. I’m sure the injury he got treatment for and then had to go off with, was as a result of that challenge. Karma! (Even if it wasn’t, I’m still happy)

  19. Positives from today were plentiful Griffiths going on to 99, Moussa’s knee and free running fitness, James Forrest’s slide rule touch, playing in Gamboa in a super sub assist.

Izzy showed there’s no pro, like an old pro and played like he’d never left.

Jack Hendry continued his development and was fine, along with Ajer who are fast tracking, whether we like it or not. I’d expect more shuffling with so many games in such a short space of time Brendan Rodgers might want to risk Dedryk Boyata in Lithuania before his inevitable move, by playing him safely outside the 100 mile radius of Glasgow.

Thick and fast games coming up there is one on the horizon that can’t come quickly enough ‘mid crisis’ or not.,

Sevco by the law averages alone ,should be better equipped to avoid a humping what with the Slippy Gee factor and the new Waltenacchio template they must have snaffled from Rainjurz..

I think we look vulnerable due to European games both because of results, and through a weakening of the side, to take in Euro games, its clear the revolving door will be very busy IMHO before the morning of 01/09/18.

We have four centre backs only two play per game , which two? on the 2/9/18 , not even Brendan Rodgers has a clue.

    I’d imagine CSC

  21. evening bhoys have not been on for a few days, could not be bothered about celtic until this morning. joan said to me get back on the blog life goes on. so here is why my interest in celtic waned over the last few days, as you know we have a dog grooming parlour, well on Thursday Annette one of our customers collapsed outside the shop, she had been suffering severe headaches. she was rushed to the Walton centre in Liverpool who told her she had an inoperable brain tumour and could only offer her pallative care. now here is the sad part she has no family except a 25 year old daughter who is wheelchair bound and has the mind of a three year old, Annette said to joan could you help with anne her daughter and her westie George she wasn’t bothered about she only had weeks to live, so joan is taking care of anne till we can sort something out with social services and ive got George the westie sometimes we think we have problems if celtic are getting beat, but things like this make you think life is so precious hh.

  22. I wonder about playing Mikael in the centre and giving Gamboa a go again. I don’t think Lustig has the speed anymore for darting up the wing. In the centre it’s not needed so much.

  23. I think BR has had an agreement with DB & hence the current situ.

BR probably expected players in ( not McG) & has been caught short.

Not his fault but Im cool on players coming in being sorted.

  26. Is it beyond any possibility that boyata will sign an extension and would that be accepted by the supporters and the club?

Big P an awful situation and a very caring response from you and your wife.

  27. glendalystonsils on

Find the man who sorted out James Forrest’s hamstring problems and point him in Moussa’s direction.

MD was the man who pulled us out of the doldrums today and gave us the spark that ensured we would not be embarrassed. Vital that we keep him fit.

  28. The Boyata situation is a complicated one requiring separation of DB as a football player and him (and us) as human beings.

Rather than try to express the dilemma Ive copied over from Twitter exchanges on the matter, I hope they are not to diificult to follow.and might generate more light than heat in any subsequent comments.

Some concepts are alien to the Glaswegian mind. Salad. Dentistry. Forgiveness. Craig Russell. The Long Glasgow Kiss. However forgiveness is not for benefit of wrongdoer but the forgiver. Not to forgive is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.

If he accepts his mistake and shows remorse..if he signs a new deal and his team mates are happy with that, then there’s no reason not to forgive . We all make mistakes. Otherwise we’d never know when we were doing something right

For forgiveness to come into play a wrong has to be recognised for the degree of wrong that it was. Whoknows the difference forgiveness might have on Boyata? I’m not talking about him as a Celtic player but a human being whose role in life is not to keep me happy. That’s my job

What Boyata did was wrong. A huge mistake, but unforgivable? If he gets another chance it shouldn’t be because we don’t have another CB & he will settle defence but because we are big enough to reflect the Christian ethos that created Celtic.

That is a football issue and the manager is the best judge of whether what we have is better than what we don’t. So two levels at play. Judgement of DB as a footballer & judgement of him as a human being. BR can do the first and who is competent to do the latter?

  29. Not at all keen on Boyatta pulling on the jersey ever again but if our manager thinks it necessary, then I am content.

I think CQN has become so influential in giving a real voice to Celtic supporters, that so much effort is spent in undermining it. I spend more time ignoring certain posters than i do actually reading comments. There are so many at the moment, things must be bad over in Govan.
