Pivotal night in the title race

58

Hibernian are on an excellent run of form.  Undefeated in the league since they drew with the Champions in October, they won their last three games (Kilmarnock, Dundee, Aberdeen) and if results go their way tonight, could go third in the table.

It now gets complicated for them.  Celtic Park is the first of four consecutive away games.  The win at Dundee is their only victory away from Easter Road in six games across three months.  They find Glasgow, in particular, difficult, losing at Ibrox and to 10-man Aberdeen at Hampden.

Our away record in the league this season has been outstanding with only one minor blemish, an anaemic performance against a packed Hibs defence in October, as the consequences of Reo Hatate’s absence began to hit home.

No one will convince you or me that Celtic are in an excellent run of form.  However!  Since that draw to Hibs in October, a last-minute Motherwell goal is all that stood between Celtic and a 100% domestic record. Even sub-par, the champions perform like champions.

An aside for tonight, apart from Hibs, Hearts are the only other side to have won their last three league games.  It could be a pivotal evening in the title race.

    Kyogo on the bench.

  7. Delighted that Iwata is getting a chance, hopefully CalMac is further forward, his best position IMO and hopefully he has his head up looking for that forward pass…….

    So…BR was clearly unhappy with the efforts of some at Perth.

    Yang would have been the most obvious. Post game comments about Turnbull would put him on the list.

    But Kyogo? His lack of touches of the ball isn’t due to his laziness. It’s due to how we now play. Sideways.

    If BR wants more out of Kyogo, it is simple….

    Don’t send your FB’s up to where the wingers are;

    Pass the ball quickly to the wingers;

    Don’t have the wingers coming inside all/most/any of the time.

    Get them quickly to the by line, whip low ball across the box;

    Let Kyogo do his magic…..

    Just my 2 bucks worth….
