It is quite incredible that the European Cup/Champions League final has not been held in Lisbon, one of Europe’s major football cities, since 25 May 1967. Lisbon is the home of one of the early giants of the tournament, and has had imposing cathedral-stadiums ever since, all but one of which was brought up to modern standards for Euro 2004.
When the Lisbon Lions return to the city of their greatest triumph, one day before its 47th anniversary, they will once more represent Celtic on the world stage, just as they did in the Lisbon sun all those years ago, and on hundreds of occasions since, when they have pitched up at supporter or media events.
This is a team of The Ages. The games’ dignitaries will pay homage to them next month, while locals of an older generation will recall their youth with a glint in their eyes. Delighted their going back, hope they bring their boots.
We’re in for a treat in the run up to this year’s final.
Well done to the Celtic fans who rallied round to buy Johnny Doyle’s 1977 Cup Final shirt for his family. Stunning work.
Is it unacceptable to say ‘Hearts are going bust’? The only disputable element of this claim is its transient nature; Hearts are already bust. I think it’s commendable that a Celtic player mixes socially and culturally with Hibs fans, who he previously performed for. Remember and acknowledge those who helped you on the way up.

I don’t have any spares as yet for Tannadice but Smashie has a couple and is waiting until Friday to see if my bus needs then.

Why the insults?
Firstly, I’m not a Unionist apologist and if you knew a thing about me you would know that well!
Don’t throw SNP pish at me and what they have done or are doing for education in Scotland.
I live here, I work under the cuts that they’ve made, I witness their policies in practice, I see how those policies affect the children, their families and our ability to provide them with an education system and curriculum approporiate to their needs.
Get your head out of pamphlets and manifestos, that’s where you’ll see the real SNP.
Cultsbhoy
Was up in your neck of the woods on Sunday watching the two bhoys I take to games
with me(my bhoy and his pal) knocking out some your finest from the Scottish cup semi final.
Long return journeys are great when you win .

In Scotland, where there is enjoyment there will be a Presbyterian organisation with a law to quash that enjoyment but it cuts both way’s as all clubs are on the receiving end of this legislation although Celtic more than most!!

Billy Bhoy 05,
Far from being worth a few bob, my granny had to raise 6 children on her own from the 30s, as my grandfather died then from wounds he received in the First World War.
The former club were Scotland’s shame. Now the cybernats shame Scotland.
Williebhoy
Apologies if I have this wrong but iMichael said that the only bhoy playing now is Michael Tidser, who is at Ross County.
Regardless of that I still feel it is a lovely story.
Ps
Confusion can maybe be caused because there are two age groups in the 19 ‘s
See if Scotland don’t win independence I’m feckin moving to England. :-)))

I’m having a bad day today. It was meant to be a joke. Now I can sympathise with a certain other poster on this site.
It seems that bad refereeing is no impediment to getting big games in England too:

Scotland’s shame comes from you Unionists….Not a people who seek independence from you Right Wing Warmongers, who compete with each other in how far you can reduce benefits to the poor
Look at the evidence…13 years of Labour Misrule

Just friendly advice.
Less is more.
You are coming across, strongly, as a political troll trolling on a Celtic board.
I don’t really want you to go away- hence the smiley.
What I’d prefer is that the balance of your posts are more to do with football and less to do with regurgitating, often lengthy, purely political arguments, with no relation to or impact on Celtic.
As you can see (again, dare I add) from the reactions on here, you have irked more than persuaded. It may be time to review your strategy.
This is friendly advice. I get it that you are an SNP man- no problem for me. Many of the posters on here, I’d guess, are inclined to vote Yes and some of them will be SNP men too.
They do not post a regular string of one-sided propaganda articles though. MWD’s regular jibe that Voting No makes you a Paisleyite is equally counter-productive as a persuasive argument. I doubt he really cares about being persuasive, though. :-)
You DO want to influence fellow Celts to vote Yes, I believe. Let me tell you, in a friendly way, that I think you are undermining your own purpose.
Less is more.
That is all. Feel free to ignore but don’t say you did not get feedback.
bankiebhoy
for that I am going to join the English CQN too and get right oot of this foresaken hell hole.

lionroars,
I don’t know the exact procedure but we are hardly dealing with an organisation that deals with exact procedure, the Jorge Cadette case being a prime example.
It is easy to criticise Celtic regarding the SFA, the realities of dealing with the SFA and the committee structure is completely different, as someone who has decades of involvement in football and has watched the committee structure in various affiliated bodies and the SFA themselves i have to tell you Machiavellian doesn’t even begin to cover it.
We have legal people on the board, our major shareholder will have access to some very sharp legal minds and it should not be very difficult to build a case that exposes the organisation for what it is
The legal route like FC Sion from Switzerland ? would we win in a court of law ? how much would it cost in legal fees ? what if we lost the case, more cost in legal fees, a long lengthy court case could cost Celtic millions with no guarantee of a win, Fifa, UEFA and all football associations do not like clubs taking them to court, it is an option which has many costly pitfalls and certainly not to be embarked on untill we have weighed up all pros and cons
http://www.avocat-sport.fr/#/news/show/court_of_arbitration_for_sport_-_uefa_-_fc_sion_-_case_commentary
What is the alternative? If we continue to sit back, these spurious attacks will continue
Hopefully Res 12 will see success, although i am not trustful of UEFA doing the necessary when the Res 12 gets to that level if it does, there’s been a lot of work and effort went into Res12 and lets hope the CQN posters and friends who worked very hard for Res12 and Celtic get the result from Res 12 they deserve, on a personal level i do not attend SFA games at any level, even if means missing out on a Celtic cup final at Hampden i won’t go, will not support the SFA representative sides either as the SFA are not an organization fit to represent Scotland, i have to trust Celtic are working hard behind the scenes hopefully with other clubs to change the SFA, i believe that is the only way change will happen if member clubs change the culture and the personnel running the SFA, the clubs all have one vote collectively change should be easy…………………………………………
SFTB
you got me, :-(
Spent long enough on CQn to know that you will never change entrenched views.
So best just to take extract the urine and have a giggle. :-)
MWD is voting YES and if you all vote NO I will turn into WMD.

I don’t think there was any malice in BILLY BHOY 05’s post-you are both of a similar age and background, and could probably do a local version of The Four Yorkshiremen!-but I am in awe of your grandmother!
That was some task, and she was well entitled to the occasional wee treat here and there.
While I’m on,do you fancy jumping onto a train to Ardrossan of an evening in early May for a beer?
I’ll be in Kilwinning,so it’s a halfway house, which is the kindest thing you’ll ever hear me saying about that town.
Let me know, please, nearer the time if you fancy it. I might bring my Dad along for a wee night in his home hovel.
Thanks guys – tickets sorted!

I rarely stroll into politics on here. Mainly due to the fact that what I know about the subject you can write on one side of an ice cube with a felt tip pen.
That said, I think Sftb is absolutely 100% spot on. You do more harm than good.
HT
I am fortunate to have put two children through Uni and another one going this year. Not a penny owed in charges: but under Labour proposals they would owe over £30k, the oldest even more as she did a Masters.
I’m not an SNP supporter but I am a Yes voter and I appreciate what they are doing towards that end. I also hold the view that some fairness should be in evidence. I would also suggest that you are aware SNP is not responsible for the cuts. You know how much the % of the budget they have to spend.

I don’t know GordonJ personally but I’d say we’re in broad agreement on many topics and I think you’re very wide of the mark with your attack.
Regardless of whether you are, or aren’t, attacks like that do neither yourself or your argument any favours. Nor does it do anything to enhance or benefit the experience of using this site.

You are entitled to your opinion. I take it you think accusations should be made and accepted without challenge.
Scroll back please and see what I’ve posted this morning. If i got something wrong it was still meant well.
The Labour MP one is true and HT took exception to it and I responded.

I had a quick-very- chat wi a fella yesterday who insisted on telling me that The Widower is a great programme,I should watch it.
Politely,I said that I rarely watch TV,never have.
“But he comes from up your way”,he continued. “He would go back home, get married in a kilt and everything”
Again politely,I pointed out that by his methods,The Yorkshire Ripper came from down his way. Patronising bas….
Point being-as you know-I’m not in favour of independence. So,fancy moving to Swindon?
Any port in a storm, and I might need hauners when I finally snap wi this lot down here. Some a…hole avoidance therapy required soon.
Billy Bhoy 05,
Thanks for proving my point!

The word ‘erse’ springs to mind…….poverty will never be eradicated, irrespective of which party is in power……it would result in less money being available to allow politicians to fiddle their expenses on ‘jollies’ etc……..
