It is quite incredible that the European Cup/Champions League final has not been held in Lisbon, one of Europe’s major football cities, since 25 May 1967. Lisbon is the home of one of the early giants of the tournament, and has had imposing cathedral-stadiums ever since, all but one of which was brought up to modern standards for Euro 2004.
When the Lisbon Lions return to the city of their greatest triumph, one day before its 47th anniversary, they will once more represent Celtic on the world stage, just as they did in the Lisbon sun all those years ago, and on hundreds of occasions since, when they have pitched up at supporter or media events.
This is a team of The Ages. The games’ dignitaries will pay homage to them next month, while locals of an older generation will recall their youth with a glint in their eyes. Delighted their going back, hope they bring their boots.
We’re in for a treat in the run up to this year’s final.

Is it unacceptable to say ‘Hearts are going bust’? The only disputable element of this claim is its transient nature; Hearts are already bust. I think it’s commendable that a Celtic player mixes socially and culturally with Hibs fans, who he previously performed for. Remember and acknowledge those who helped you on the way up.

I remember that the SFA suspended Donald Findlay “sine die” for singing the sash. The SFA stood up for fitba and ensured sectarianism had no place in our game.

I have a pretty good idea on what they have tried and advised them on what they had not. and have been very patient because there may be other things I do not know that might explain their approach so far.
It has entered the realm of politics within the club, the SPFL and the SFA which is the unknown territory, hence the need for patience, seemingly of the infinite variety.
The message to the SPFL and SFA has to be this is not going to go away.

Re the prayers, no bother at all. Those holy words were memorised from the end of a wooden pointer tapping out a rhythm, on a blackboard, at an age well before the beauty and consolation they expressed were apparent to me.
One of the wonders of the pontificate of John Paul ll, for me, was his emphasis on the veneration of Mary.
Anyway, I continue to offer the prayers each midnight.
Around the world, at every stroke of the hourly o’clock, there are twenty four midnight prayer vigils available to anyone so minded.

Not at all……to me anyway and as BCW suggested……Leigh needs to wise up.
Maybe he is a Hibs fan but he is a Celtic player now and as much as he can have a wee(or big)inner grin at what is going on……Celtic come 1st now.
IF he was English….or Polish …..or whatever Nationality…..and had went home to support the club he loved, then that to me is different, but he is Scottish and IS playing here!

I know that you guys(and girls)live and breathe Celtic and instinctively fight tooth & nail for our club, but if something is right….or wrong…..then it just is and i do not think Leigh should have put himself and subsequently Celtic in this situation.
Comparing the behaviour of some of Celtic’s greats…..guys like Billy McNeil, Paul McStay, Tommy Burns, Henrik Larsson…… is a great bench mark to me and IF Leigh is ever to be remembered as fondly then perhaps he needs to up his game not only on the park…….but off the park as well?
Henrik knew before he stepped back on our pitch that scoring would be such an awkward moment and as a professional and winner that is exactly what he would have been trying to do…..but when that moment came…..he had respect…..and class.
Actions can be spontaneous and pre-meditated, but in this instance it looks like Leigh has went out with some mates for what was a momentous, legendary, iconic….call it what you will day for them…..but he should have known better and i don’t mean because things are not quite like other nations here……just that…..i am disappointed that he wasn’t streetwise and professional enough to realise that CELTIC is everything now…..well…..it should be.
Whether that warrants the SPFL to punish him is beyond me though…….does that mean, now that players cant celebrate goals because it will have some kind of disrespect/bringing the game into disrepute or whatever vibe and then charge attached to it?
Celtic can only conduct themselves as they choose.
IF other clubs players want, and are allowed to act as they choose then that is up to them.
My blood boils too at thoughts of the antics of players and board member’s of clubs in the past.
I hope Celtic set a higher benchmark for themselves and for us and i believe they should take their own disciplinary action regarding Leigh.
The final sentence of The Clubs statement suggests a loaded gun towards our “governing body”…..will they pull the trigger though?
