Predictable SFA back their team

202

As predicted yesterday, the SFA appeals process rejected Celtic’s application to have Yang’s red card, awarded at Tynecastle on Sunday, rescinded.  The merits of the case can be set aside.  The SFA were being asked to consider whether one of their senior referees intervened unfairly in a manner which changed which team was top of the table with nine games remaining.

That was never going to happen.  Any technical justification for the recommendation to upgrade the initial yellow card would be seized.  Unlike offside, which is a definitive on or off, foul play remains under the remit of referee interpretation.

The lack of consistency, which resulted in a Motherwell player not even being cautioned for a similar challenge on Daizen Maeda a week earlier, is explained by referees interpreting the circumstances differently.

VAR is never going to change the fact that Scotland is a small place with a very small number of teams capable of winning the league.  It has shone a greater light on this lack of consistency, but it will not change people and will not quickly change processes.

  1. What are the chances the gaffer misses Livingstone and Sevco match with a 2 match ban!

28th March is when the punishment is being dished out. What’s the hold up?

That game was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me, and has put me off Scottish football for the foreseeable.

    ——–

Genuinely saddened to read this M.U.

For my part I broke financially with the rest of Scottish football twenty years ago.

I can comfortably count on one hand the number of away matches I’ve attended this millennium.

The last time I bought a ticket for a match at Hampden (went to Commonwealth Games athletics) was for the league cup final March 2000.

I don’t attend home cup games as the gate receipts are split.

    Only Celtic get my money.

Not the SFA, not any other clubs.

  3. The one thing that Celtic could try to do, is gtf out of Scottish football. Easier said than done I suppose, but that’s what would make me happy.

    From the Celtic Fans Forum…

    ____

Michael Nicholson actually saying something is a bit like “Garbo talks”. The guy is an empty suit. Need more of us to attend that fans forum meeting.

  5. !!Bada Bing!! on

We won’t get a better chance to try and mark their card than now,but ssssshhhh let them keep cheating

  6. ref the fans forum,

is it not some sort of compliance requirement now to have one ?

it is just another talking shop, it will raise issues that will be papped away or given lip service.

quit scottish football, tell the world you are doing it in a certain time frame,

come out and explicitly state “there is no old firm model”.

as an aside, for all the complainers , who is not renewing their seats ?

only effective action that could ever be taken.

    right back to reaserching.

  7. I know this goes against the grain of some of our support but we should try to boycott away games except for the few cubs who actually like us, let them try and survive on the hun pound, as the song says “we’ve done it before and we’ll do it again” I believe that even Sir Bob encouraged that at swinecastle

  8. All it needs is Celtic to question the integrity of the refereeing establishment.

They will take the huff and go on strike again. When they return from their strike, question their integrity again and again until the whole shithouse crumbles down on them

  9. “If the VAR feels the referee has made a clear and obvious error in only cautioning a player rather than sending him off, they can advise the referee….”

Robertson cautioned Yang, presumably for “reckless” play, automatic yellow card. Some might see it as “careless” lack of attention etc…no caution. The one thing he did not see was “serious foul play” otherwise he would have had to send Yang off. John Beaton thinks otherwise, Brendan criticises Beaton’s intervention from afar which resulted in us being down to ten men for most of the game. Celtic should argue that Beaton’s action represented “a misapplication of the laws of the game”. As in another Dougie Dougie moment.

Maybe they will all go on strike…..

  10. The 18-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, with a host of clubs said to be monitoring his situation in Glasgow.

Now, Watford is the latest team to hold a firm interest in the Republic of Ireland youth international, according to The Athletic.

The report claims Vata is keen to play first-team football, with opportunities in Brendan Rodgers’ starting XI hard to come by.

If the championship club were to forge ahead with a deal, then they would be made to pay Celtic £239,000 in compensation.

  11. What’s to stop a team under pressure to qualify for champs league to offer financial reward to refs ?

  12. If your a critic of the way Celtic Football Club is run, then there is no way you will be allowed into the fans forum .

  13. I have longed for us to leave Scottish football for a very long time. Oh that it were feasible. As an interim measure I would suggest we give NOTHING to any other team by refusing to take any allocation anywhere. SKY might exert some pressure if all the Celtic games they cover away from Celtic Park have fairly empty grounds.

  14. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Celtic will be absolutely livid about all this. The last thing anyone would have wanted would have been an old firm title race…..

  15. Bada that is a real concern and worry the man who should be strong and show good leadership. We have a board not fit purpose clearly.

    ——

The SFA’s robust vetting procedures of candidate referees, their strict compliance procedures for clubs and almost dictatorial insistence of adherence to codes of conduct across the board.

  18. When required the officials assist if I recall the pens and reds dried up when they wanted that dud Beale eat then once gone normal service resumed and is now well and truly in overdrive.

  19. if they ban our manager , the club should tell them to stuff their flag they must be desperate with all the cheating and that the games a bogey.

  20. Bada

Aye, and his galoot of a boy ,these bastards shouldn’t be protected .

  21. Re foreign refs :

Do we not remember some of the refeering in our recent European campaigns.

A quick read back after our European games will determine our actual thought process regarding Foreign refs.

    HH.

  22. An Ibrox European trophy this season will surely empty the PLC coffers of vast amounts of Celtic fans ticket monies which would wipe out considerable value off of the share price paving the way for a removal of the PLC pro old firm fraudulent executive who’s only function seems to be banning the Green Brigade because the GB said fk the media and their bandwagons of psyop’s [psychological operations] and other bs.

So it looks like Celtic supporters will lie on their lazy and spoiled arses and not give a monkeys about the PLC and their on the way down manager who isn’t stupid…but he is good at acting stupid.

When all you have to do is rip the utter shyte out of 60,000 empty heads, who stand for nothing and fall for everything…mug the mugs for the PLC old firm grift….and then bugger off when the season is irretrievable with your £50k per week pay off and NDA, PLC-EBT brown envelope, and let these leaderless fans dry up and blow away in the wind.

Sevco are total guff, but given the chance, Sevco won’t take their boots off of your throats.

Uefa masons might teach Tims a lesson…by fixing a European competiton for Sevco on behalf of genocide land.

The 60,000 empty heads need to empty the park…its that simple…says Simon!

When I woke up on Sunday morning to go watch the game, my wife said to me are you excited, and I said to her no as we will not be allowed to win the game. She laughed at me and called me paranoid. I showed her the highlights and even she said that was never a red card or PK. The truth is none of us are surprised by any decision that goes against us. All we have to do is look back to the Cadete registration, his goal not counted at Ibrox, or even farther back the 1986 ? skol cup final when even wee mojo remembered how to bless himself as he was ejected. We could all look back through our respected ages and timelines for decisions that went against us. I remember being 11 yrs old at the rapid Vienna game and laughing at the bottle missing the guy by a mile but him falling down and the coach starting to take his team off. How we all laughed until about a month later on the 3:05 pm news bulletin and we were told we had to head to Old trafford for a replay. yes it hurts everytime we are blatantly cheated against, but as Big Jock said we should be good enough at all times to take the ref/mason, fill in your own word, out of the equation and finish off teams. Remember when Johnny Doyle was sent off for hitting the ball against the ref:))) I remember after a Glasgow Cup youth game against thems at Shettleston. We got a man sent off in the first 5 minutes of the second half. I moved from Right wing to right back. we scored the winner with about 5 minutes to go. Our whole team bar me and big Mark McLean in goals were in their net celebrating. I got down on my knees and did my best Tommy Burns bless you and git it right up yees in front of their fans. When the game was over I was about to get chewed out by Benny Rooney when Mr. McNeil came in and said that was the passion I want to see at this club. I was so feckin relieved but that is us folks, always backs to the wall, but sticking together through good and bad times. Let’s keep together and pull these bhoys across the finishing line. it’s never over till the fat lady sings, and I am not talking about Ally McCoist.

    Cmon the hoops.

    Sean

  24. An incompetent referee is far more desirable than one who’s remit is to ensure that your club is hindered at the slightest opportunity at every opportunity.

  25. 😂 Celtic to leave Scottish Football…..and go where? Ireland ?

Which other league would offer us a place after quitting Scotland ‘in a huff’’ .

Scenario: Interview to enter another league:

    Q. Why do you want to leave Scotland?

    A. We wur always gettin cheated.

    Q. How did that affect your club?

    A. Well we only won approx 40 out of 70 competitions since 2000

Laughter erupts😂 – “sorry case dismissed – all of our clubs would love to be cheated like that”

  26. Darwin on 6th March 2024 7:37 pm

Great is the power of steady misrepresentation.

    #GenocideApologist.

  27. Ah… So we are cheated in about 42 % of trophies , that’s fine then let’s all laugh and joke about it …

  28. Think the SFA have backed a loser here. If,and its a big if,this Board want to take this charge against BR on,then they need to Lawyer up.Plenty of precedent set in the recent past from across the City, with no action taken.

Again its our Board we are talking about, but the open goal is gaping.

If they did ban Brendan from the dugout, who would guarantee his safety at Ibrox Sutton again a precedent.

Lots of worms in this can.

  29. Mikey J doing the business for WBA again.

    Didn’t happen with us.
